25 Lusk is a sophisticated, approachable fine dining restaurant specializing in seasonal contemporary American cuisine. All of the original exposed brick and massive timbers are still in place, creating a warm and inviting ambiance while maintaining the building's classic, industrial aesthetic.
The 9,800-square-foot space includes 120 seats in the main dining area, a spacious lower bar and lounge level, 30-35 seats in the private dining area, semi private dining for parties up to 14 people and a community dining table.
Perhaps the most unique element of the 25 Lusk transformations is the open space which allows soaring steel fire orb flues to pass from the main dining level to the lounge below. This design unifies the two-level space while still allowing each level to exist as a distinct venue. 25 Lusk's one-of-a-kind basement level bar and lounge offers a stylish and contemporary setting with an expansive selection of classic and modern cocktails.

"Had brunch here on Sunday with my mum, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco! Everything was beautiful, from the decor to the food, and the service was tops. (The restaurant, from our meal, seems to specialize in doing simple fare really well. It's all fresh and tasty.) We'll definitely return next time we're in town!"

"We were visiting San Francisco over the Mother's Day weekend and took advantage of their Mother's Day brunch menu. Great choice of food, three really varied and interesting courses, excellent food that was tasty, fresh and well presented. The service from the wait staff was excellent, attentive and friendly without being pushy or overbearing. The restaurant was busy and buzzing but not too loud to talk to my table companion. I will definitely be going back the next time I'm in San Francisco, the bar downstairs looked great and I want to try them for dinner. Only problem was finding them - the taxi driver didn't have a clue!!"

"I had a reservation for 10 on a Friday night. The table setting was absolutely gorgeous and away in its own section in the corner. I don't remember our server's name... it started with a R and was a hispanic male. He was so sweet and gave awesome recommendations. The margarita was absolutely delicious. Everyone had the option to pick their own entrees (it wasn't prix fixe, which I loved). Some of the food was hit or miss (mostly hit). Food may have come out a little slow but when it did come out they brought on plenty of staff to bring all of our plates at once. I loved the service, the ambience, the drinks. Would definitely come back and recommend for large parties if you can get the reservation!"

"There were 4 of us, and everyone had a great dinner, except for me. I listened to my waiter who strongly recommended the Hungarian Pork, and, frankly, it got a D+; no flavor, tough, and hard to imagine that it would be served in a restaurant like this. However, everyone else had a great dinner. My appetizer, the octopus, was great. I had to return my cocktail but they did it right the 2nd time around. Our waiter was very nice. Overall, service was slow but eventually things came together. LOTS of great wines, but not meant for those with a weak wallet (there were just a few bottles priced under $100)"

"The food and atmosphere at 25 lusk was perfect for celebrating the promotion. I appreciated that the waiter had a good understanding of their wine list. I also appreciated the waiter paying attention to my allergies and adjusting the meal accordingly. The one downside to the experience was we were served our meals around 9:45, when we had 8:15 reservations."

"Nice Menu for Mother's Day Brunch. Good selection for three course brunch. All the dishes had nice presentation and tasted delicious. The only things we weren't too crazy were the Bloody Marys and the fries. The Bloody Marys were overspiced and the fries had way too much salt on it. Other than that, it was a great experience!"

"My partner & I went here for the first time for a congratulatory dinner and really liked 25 Lusk. I really enjoyed our server's knowledge and recommendations, helping us to pick a couple of good wines. We had the steak and the pork dishes and we both loved the steak and were both "meh" about the pork. Our appetizers were great: octopus sausage and baby carrot salad. And we really liked the space - a great combo of rustic, old SOMA building with sleek looking furniture and lights. Other than the pork entree being a mixed bag, the meal was great. It is on the pricey side, so not somewhere i'll do frequently."

"Party of 4 well traveled foodies. Saturday Night in the City - and cash to burn.
This was our first (and probably last) time here. Our expecations were raised based on others reviews. Unfortunately, 25 Lusk failed to live up to the pretentious welcome and service. We each had drinks (very good), a first course, main and dessert. None of the courses was a wow. Wine service was disjointed and slow. Our server was nice enough but really seemed to be in a hurry for us to order. We felt rushed and timing was off all througout our meal. When one is dropping $150 per person one should be dining not just eating. Despite the flaws, we chose to have a couple more drinks in the bar downstairs. If I go back it will be for drinks and bar bites."

"Lusk is a neighborhood spot that is worth investigating. The wine pairing on the tasting menu is very reasonably priced in comparison to bottle prices. The only negative I've found is that the upstairs dining area gets warm after the bar becomes crowded downstairs. Need ot do a better job maintaining the room temperature for the (high end) paying customers upstairs."

"The restaurant food and service was excellent.
The bar was not. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation. it was slow, yet the bartender took 10 minutes to take our first drink order and even though we explicitly stated we had a 6pm dinner reservation and wanted to try a second cocktail before we headed up he never returned until we called him over for our check.
So go to eat but not drink."

"Go the 25 Lusk for small bites, snacks, and appetizers with cocktails. The cocktails are amazing! The small plates are delicious and perfect proportions to order a few and share with a small group.
I recently went for dinner and did the tasting menu with the wine pairings and unfortunately it was not worth the price. The food was delicious, but the wine pairings, though interesting, didn't complement the food and it was distracting. Avoid the tasting menu, go for the cocktails, and order several apps or small plates. That experience is definitely worth it and a great spot for a romantic night for 2 or a hip place to go to with a small group of friends."

"exquisitely designed atmosphere, knowledgeable server (Christina) who was attentive and helpful in making menu choices, but was not invasive in any way. Do not miss the side dish of cauliflower with manchego and brie "fondue." The lobster appetizer was petite but delicious and the vegetarian pasta as well as the vegan risotto were delicate and flavorful. In addition to the restaurant, the beautiful bar area downstairs is casual and appealing."

"We were greeted by a surly parking attendant upon arrival. He didn't believe us when we told him we had a reservation because it wasn't on his print-out, so he didn't want to park our car. Wrangling with him over this was surprisingly annoying. Yes, we complained to the hostess, and yes, the manager came over to soothe us. Wish it didn't have to happen.
In a half-empty restaurant, we were seated at a table next to the bar, which was not so great when a large group of energetic hipsters came in for their reservation.
So these folks need to polish up the valet's manners and figure out how to seat folks, especially with such a precious menu.
Otherwise, the food was great, our wait-person was fabulous."

"With two floors, I was worried that the super hip vibe in the downstairs "lounge" would be left behind when we headed upstairs to our 8:45 dinner reservations. The cocktails were so good and the area was so big and open, we almost cancelled our dinner reservation and just stayed on our comfy lounge-area couch. After all, you can get the full menu downstairs.
We went upstairs to a proper table, and were pleasantly surprised. The hip and vibrant vibe continued but was met by a knowledgeable-yet-nonintrusive wait staff. The food is tasty and complicates, bordering on pretentious. In other words, it was exactly what we were looking for."

"After having an outstanding brunch here, I just had to come back for a dinner, and it was great. All 5 of us had something different on the menu and the food was excellent.
Very interesting choices. The only bad review was for one of the martinis.
As a side note, we came from Market and Powell, and finding a cab at night is a chore. I didn't realize that the Muni has a stop nearby, so next time we'll hop from the BART to the Muni.Definitely worth the trip."

"This was my second time in the private room at 25 Luck. The service was wonderfil but nothing can compare to the food. The lobster Benedict was incomparable, and I've had alot of lobster in my life. We had an amazing time celebrating a birthday and Easter with just the right amount of privacy and attention."

"The space is amazing no matter what stop in for a drink. We ordered the tasting menu with hopes of a line up of big hitters. The first course was an experiment of imbalanced flavors & textures and a complete strike out. The second course less disappointing but a "walk" at best. The third course was excellent and made an admirable seventh inning comeback attempt. The dessert was a home-run but still couldn't bring home the win. The wine pairings were good but unremarkable, back to the minors for those Portuguese selections! The chef clearly has some talent, but is only batting five hundred on his flavor and texture combinations. Lusk will need to do better for my recommendation."

"It was a very special "thank you" dinner for a client and a friend. I couldn't take the chance of having something go wrong. In this case I relied on the reviews on Opentable and selected 25 Lusk. It was everything those reviews said and MORE. The service was amazing (over the top really), the food was unique and special (with every detail included -- and international travelers, the lamb was better than we have had around the world!) The atmosphere was fun and vibrant. I will definitely go back and can say the same for our friends who were very, very impressed. We had a perfect evening."

"I loved the food and the sleek elegant look of the place as well as the service. The food was a bit on the rich side, so not for everyone. I was very pleasantly surprised by the lobster with ice cream - it was REALLY good. My whole table thought so. The lamb chops come with a fabulous sauce, which I would put the sauce on the side next time - I loved it but not too much - it is rich! They accidentally did not save my "doggie" bag, so they re-made my dish to take home. Very Gary Denko of them! It is very expensive, but this is not what you make at home! My out of town guests LOVED it. Wish the chef would come out and visit with the peeps - his cousin sent me there, and I did not get to meet him."

"We had a great time at 25 Lusk! We took my partner's parents here for their anniversary (visiting from Chile).
They were very impressed with the seafood options and the entrees themselves.
Appetizers are on the smaller side, but were followed by filling entrees.
Would definitely recommend 25 Lusk for a special occasion or for foodies!

"Although all the best reviews I got from this place before booking my reservation, I was still surprise that the food and service lived through the expectations. The food and service inside exceeded my expectations. The waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and provided a detailed explanation of various dishes.
The only negative I felt was the valet parking that although we arrived early, there was no one else around and the two gentlmen helping to pick up the cars just did not move to help my wife with the door, assist in getting the restaurant door open or even a short "welcome or good evening". Both of them were just plainly worthless and not a reflection of what the inside experience is."

One big gaff was when the entire restaurant heard a chef yelling at his staff - the room quieted a bit, all eyes big. It was not a "great job!" yell, but a frustrated/angry (albeit brief) berating of the cooks. That's why my 'ambiance' rating was 3 stars. The food arrived quickly. The bar drink I had was the only slow thing (espresso drink). Drinks done by servers arrived quickly (great servers here!).
Love the decor there - brick, heavy wood beams with sleek, modern touches."

"We brought two other couples from out of town on Oscar Sunday night. It was very quiet with only a few tables occupied. Despite that the hostess was insistent on us seating us right at our reservation time without finishing our drinks at the bar. Appetizers were not good. Had the gnocchi, the seafood sausage and the celeriac salad. Two of the main courses went back to the kitchen. In one case the server ordered the wrong dish, the other was the veal chop, that while delicious, was undercooked initially. Sturgeon was overcooked and very dry. The chocolate brownie dessert was delicious but the "explode in your mouth chocolate" was silly."

"We came here for Valentine's Day, so I cannot comment on the regular menu. The food was good and the service was great, but I paid more money for this meal than I remember paying, well, ever, and the food wasn't at the level of "memorably outstanding." First course was creative in concept but chose out of season fruits (strawberries in Feb?) and thus lacked flavor. Main course was delicious but again, not remarkable."

"Two couples who hadn't seen each other in several years enjoyed time together at the neoindustrial 25 Lusk. The menu offered several meat, seafood, fowl options that made choosing difficult. The squab first course with a mushroom pot-du-creme (sp?)was excellent as was the shaved celery and cucumber salad. The sushi-grade seared ahi tuna was a hit as well as the little seen (Alexis is long gone) pheasant offering. Another enjoyable dish was the perfectly cooked rack of lamb. The only disappointment was the veal chop---the preparation was fine but the chop itself was fat infused and lacked consistent body and texture. The four of us shared the "textures and chaos" dessert which was tasty and not as chaotic as the name suggested."

"This restaurant is off the charts. It was our second visit there, and we were wowed once again. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and, while it was difficult to choose, we chose well; our entire party was thrilled with their selections. This place is destined to become an SF classic with staying power like some of our other favorites ---Zuni, Bix and Gary Danko. Gracious, uncomplicated, yet well educated service, plus innovative, perfectly cooked food offered in fair portions."
