"I selected Acadiana for my 13th anniversary dinner. Unfortunately, I regret it as both the service and food were barely average. My server only came over to our table the prescribed 1 min after he dropped off each item. He couldn't be found to refill my cocktail. We were rushed through each course as if I was in a cafeteria. I wouldn't suggest this establishment for lunch.
The fried green tomatoes were soaked in oil and some garish overly pungent sauce. The turtle soup and gumbo both taste like the base was from the bottom of a burnt pan. The veal and grits were no better. To be fair, the crab cakes were decent.
I had to give this restaurant a 1-10 rating it would be a solid 3."

"My mom's a KY girl at heart, and has been missing true Southern cooking - from start to finish each bite was followed with an "oh my god." Although the mission of our return was for their light, fluffy homemade biscuits w/ cream cheese & pepper jelly, you won't be disappointed with any dish. I'm a sucker for the smoked trout nicoise, & the rest of my party only raved about the flavors accompanying their ribeye steak and duck. Whatever you're craving, consider the carrot cake to polish off your meal - great balance with the pear! And from the smiling hostesses and attentive waitstaff, service is nothing short of excellence. Definitely be back to try the bar bites and drinks!"

"The menu is full of seafood choices and we sampled a few... all were excellent. It is a very big restaurant so event though it was full, we felt like we had plenty of space. The server was very friendly and was able to describe all the menu questions we threw at him."

"Visited the restaurant for a lunch to catch up with a business associate and had a great meal and a wonderful time. The noise level was moderate enough to allow for conversation across the table. We had a lot to discuss and were not hurried by the staff. I had the shrimp & grits which was really tasty and a nice deconstruction with the grits in a cake form. One of my favorite places when I am in DC on business."

"Being from southern Louisiana i wanted to check out its Sunday Jazz Brunch. Very nice atmosphere and the server was very friendly... BUT the food was average at best. Beignets were delicious and so was the pain perdu. Those are sweets. Unfortunately, the crab soup tasted like it was made with a faux cheese base and salt was the only seasoning. The eggs sardou received last place in the table voting, but the eggs acadiana and shrimp and grits were ok. Note: the grits are not creamy more like polenta. The seafood crepe gratin was pretty good. The biggest disappointment came at the end of the meal when they served the strawberry bread pudding. It was pink and had an odd texture. Pink??? Plain authentic bread pudding is the way to go!"

"Acadiana is consistant with the quality food, I know that if I'm taking someone there for the first time or the third time we are going to be treated to a wonderful meal. I make everyone try the deviled eggs, charbroilded oysters and the bbq shrimp as they are my favorites when they are underdecided and they has not yet been a disappointed person in the bunch."

"The biscuits that they serve as bread for the table was great. But my lunch was lackluster. There was a non-alcholic dring that was fabulous. But the food was just good, not mind blowing. Server was great and the ambiance was decent as well. I may try them for dinner but not likely."

"It was my birthday celebration and there were many nice touches. My name was printed on menu and a beautiful dessert with happy birthday written on the plate. The food was exceptional. The service needs to improve. Our server did not know the menu and when I asked if there was any meat in the dish I order, I was told no. I was shocked when my rice contained pork. In addition, the food was placed in front of the wrong people. When I complained, the manager went to my husband and not me. They must improve customer service. They did however, try to compensate and make things right. As the food and the drinks are excellent, I will go back."

"I reserved a table for six for a business lunch. The round table was ideal for the needed conversation, and there were clean plates all around. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance supported the importance of the discussion. I had the fried catfish entree. Excellent. My only suggestion would be to put a plate under the wire basket, in case the diner is using a knife and fork to eat."

"During a business trip we ate here twice. Our first visit, for lunch, was a disaster. we opted to sit outside to accommodate our group of 8; that was a tactical as we were in the shade a a very cool spring breeze left the gentlemen sharing their jackets with the ladies in the group - meaning we were all cold! While the place was crowded, it seemed that waiting 45 minutes to get our appetizer was a bit much and we actually had to leave before our food was served, given we had meetings to attend.
We returned for a dinner reservation and the service was MUCH better. Those with whom I dined said the crab cakes were EXCELLENT. I unfortunately had ordered the duck. It was overcooked and very salty. The other food items were quite tasty."

"I was pleasantly surprised that the noise level was so much better than a few years ago when I ate there - of course, it was for lunch and this was an early dinner reservation. Also, I thought it was great that two of us were seated before our other two guests arrived, which isn't of the norm in most upscale DC restaurants. The waiter could not have been more delightful - Daniel I think? Food extremely high caliber. Not too many restaurants that advertise jumbo lump crab cakes actually serve lump crab. The wine suggestions of the waiter were perfect too, as well as the special drinks to the toast."

"Fun Derby crowd. We hoped to enjoy the patio but we wimped out (like everyone else sitting outside) and moved inside after a drink. Everyone was very understanding and accommodating. We always enjoy their food and atmosphere. Thought we would start with some nice gulf oysters but since it was chilly by dinner, I opted for the gumbo and my husband the spicy grouper. "The fried soft-shell crab special was excellent. I thought the green beans would be a bland side dish--but they were also flavorful, seasoned by shallots and the brown-butter sauce that was drizzled over the crab.
Husband ordered the duck. A delicious and generous portion, they could probably cut back on the amount of sauce they pour over it. It is very rich.
Apps were fine. Fried green tomatoes were good. Could have skipped the alligator fritters--more dough than alligator. Charbroiled oysters were great. Turtle soup was good, but not really something to order again.
Dessert: Blondie sundae was great, except it lacked the walnuts I was expecting to give the dessert a nice crunch. But still tasty. The husband's pecan tart was nice, too."

"This review is based solely on one plate of food. I have no recollection of anything else I ate there.
On the last day of our DC trip, we stopped at Acadiana for lunch. Had we eaten here on the first day, it's possible we would have just had crab cakes at every meal. The crab cake was literally the best we've ever had and I'd even go so far as to say it was one of the top 10 things I've ever eaten. Our trips are based around trying to find great food whether it's haute French or street-cart. On this particular trip, the most memorable item was a crab cake."

"We were a party of three doing a pre theatre dinner. We are from NY and 2 of us are in the food industry (meaning we are picky). The food was fantastic.. Especially the charbroiled oysters. The cocktails were a highlight. Our server Meg walked us though the details of the menu and then of the individual drinks and dishes we were considering. Because it was our first time to the restaurant, her patience and advice made all the difference."

"The air conditioning was way too cold, even though the restaurant was full of people.
The waitress was attentive, but as cold as the air conditioning.
I had a veal dish that tasted like liver. My husbands meal was fine.
Overall I was very disappointed. Too many good restaurants in D.C. to go back to this one again."

"Acadiana is one of my top 3 choices for lunch. We make special trips there just for the blackened tilapia, mac & cheese, biscuits, and corn pudding. However, the dinner menu is very different and not as appealing. Our recent dinner experience was a tremendous disappointment. Even the biscuits were hard and not freshly baked. Acadiana offers a vastly better lunch experience."

"Food is great! Started with oysters on the half shell & chargrilled oysters (my favorite). The group ordered gumbo, boneless short ribs, oyster po-boy, BBQ shrimp (Sooo good and buttery) & fish special. Nothing was left on our plates. Beignets were good (considering they weren't from New Orleans' Cafe du Monde)and key lime pie was great, too. Always a good experience at Acadiana."

"Indulged in a blackened catfish po'boy (dressed) and Abita Amber draft for lunch -- scrumptious! The po'boy's lighter-than-air Leidenheimer bread made even that huge sandwich do-able, although I could have handled even more kick in the blackening spices. Served with Zapp's chips for an authentic Louisiana experience (just visited NOLA three weeks ago). Ready to go back and try Acadiana's version of shrimp and grits!"

"We have been here several times, never have been disappointed. The restaurant still shines as new, always clean and inviting and service is superb. The food is wonderful, but the pork dishes do tend to be on the salty side. This past visit we had the smoked chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, the roasted sweet corn and blue crab soup, the portabello mushroom salad, the meat pie trio, the pork boudin balls and the jalapeno cheese grits. We arrived early for our reservation and so ordered a cocktail at the bar to wait for our table. Great Bloody Mary's, again perfect service, a very comfortable place."

"If you are a fan of overcooked seafood and amateur servers, this restaurant is for you. Our server neglected to inform us of any of the daily specials and the wine service was poor. My entree was Mahi Mahi and served so overcooked and dried out that it was tasteless."

"What I enjoyed about Acadiana was that they don't interpret Cajun or Southern cooking to mean drench everything in cayenne pepper and char it. The dishes are well thought out and prepared, and the talent of the chef and his staff is evident from the first bite. It was a bit loud the night we were there, but there was a party in the back so it was understandable and it was never so loud that we couldn't hear the conversation at our table. The meal did take quite a bit of time, so it's not a place I'd recommend for a "quick bite," but if you want a delicious meal and a relaxing evening, Acadiana should be on your list."

"Great food! Veal medallions with grits were fantastic! Fried green tomatoes didn't taste like anything but horseradish. Waiter was not warm and friendly at All, minus him, it was a great experience and what a great setting for 11 people! (We always felt like we were "bothing" him! Not a good quality in wait-staff.) That back room that can hold 15 or so people is great! I will definitely come back again when need a venue for a big group!"

"I'm new to this area of DC and recently handicapped. Acadiana has installed a lift that handily eases me to the dining room floor without fuss or bother to other diners. My meals have been refreshingly novel because of the slight twist the chef adds to each food choice. Presentation is appealing which excites the desire to dine. And, most importantly, there are sufficient portions to create a thoroughly wonderful impression and satiate your hunger. Yes, I've found a seat at Acadiana several times and expect to find myself with friends there several more times. Oh! and lest I forget, the waite staff team members are unobtrusive, knowledgeable, perceptive and kind."
