"We have been to the Horse and Hound twice and have not been disappointed. They cooked the filet to perfection this time around. I definitely recommend this restaurant!"

"My family was visiting from California for UVA graduation, and we decided to try out Horse and Hound. We made a reservation for 8 through OpenTable, and it worked fine. We were seated promptly, and the server was very gracious about waiting for the guest grad of honor to show up. The restaurant was running a special grad weekend menu, and we all found something we liked. My dad ordered his steak medium, but it came out pretty close to rare. The server remedied that immediately, replacing the dish with a smile and not much delay. Overall, we were very satisfied with both the service and the food. Nice people, and a very nice dinner. We would definitely go back."

"We frequent this restaurant quite a bit and love the food and the atmosphere. This was a visit for Mother's Day and there was an unusually large crowd, plus an after wedding party going on outside. Even though the service was not their usual "top shelf" the food did not suffer at all. It was super delicious!"

"Meal was very good. Service remained slow even after a couple of apologies and when it wasn't very busy. Homemade corned beef was outstanding. Other brunch items were very good."

"I tried the house-made bangers during this visit to the pub and I will definitely return for these again. They have a bangers and mash special weekly! I always enjoy my visits to Horse & Hound."

"Brunch was excellent! Every one of our party of nine enjoyed their entree (including six 18-21-year-old males who left fully satiated). Best grits I've ever had! (They say the secret to their fluffy creaminess is they're cooked for 24 hours.) The Bloody Mary's were also delicious with lots of grated horseradish. Can't wait to come back in warmer weather to sit outside."

"Brought our son, his girlfriend and best friend for brunch to celebrate his 21st birthday. Terrific food (for both vegetarians and omnivores), great and friendly service - will definitely return!"

"We enjoyed our dinner at Horse and Hound. NIce room and bar BUT there was a combo playing and we literally couldn't talk. It shouldn't be a concert but an accompaniment to the experience of dining. That really diminished our experience there."

"We dined with friends during their Mardi-gras special. We enjoyed it very much, the menu was different and gave us a chance to explore new foods. The local wine was excellent as was the service."

"The Mardi Gras food did not taste like we expected. I am not a person who likes super spicy food and the meal came across as bland, I was disappointed based upon all the advertising.
We also felt like there should have been bread with the meal. We felt as though had we not have ordered appetizers we would have left still feeling hungry."

"The Guests where from out of the country and they said that it was a great experience being from a different country. It was a classic gem of southern hospitality, the service was great and so was the food we will come back in the future."

"The atmosphere at Horse and Hound was pretty casual, but the service was good and the food was excellent. The beer pairings for each of the three courses were spot-on. This is a great place for beer-loving foodies. We will definitely eat there again."

"Wonderful food and great service. They feature beer pairings with meal courses. We drank wine which was very fine. If you're into beers and great food, elegantly prepared, this place is for you. If you're not that into beer, don't let that slow you up. There are good wines to choose from. Great place to take a date, but a bit pricey for frequent outings."

"Went for restaurant week just to check it out and the meal was fabulous! We showed up with more than our reservation and even though they were booked the manager found a spot to fit in our party that had increased from 5 to 8. The food was absolutely delicious! The scallops and cauliflower purée were to die for. Everyone in my party was pleased with the meal and presentation. The service was good, attentive but not overbearing with our large group. Will definitely be coming back!"

"We went for their January 2013 restaurant week menu, and it was outstanding! Not only were there excellent choices throughout the menu, each offered a well matched beer pairing that made for a great dinner."

"We went to Horse and Hound for restaurant week. Bottom line is that that food was good but not great. Our server was very pleasant. However, when she took away our first course plates, she took all of my silverware. When she brought out the main course, she forgot to bring silverware and quickly disappeared. As my plate got colder and she was no where to be found, we had to flag down another server for utensils. Overall, ok but not great."

"Went for Restaurant Week. Everything on the menu sounded good so narrowing the selection was tricky. 2 people. Apps: crab salad (okay. one crab claw. Dressing could have been more flavorful); mini lamb donner (lamb and sauces were good. The "naan" was just a mediocre flatbread); mac and cheese (delicious) Entrees: scallops (cooked perfectly. bizarre combination of ingredients esp the artichoke) Lamb leg (surprisingly tender. every component melded together. it was lovely) Desserts: thousand layer cake (filling and the sauce were excellent. the filo was hard to eat for some layers); baked Alaska (sauce and lemon sorbet were delightful. too much meringue and the cake element was terrible. Service: our waiter was very attentive and quick."
