"Superb food artfully presented. We dinned on a Monday evening and there was a large group occupying the entire ground floor so we had to go up a steep flight of stairs to the second floor. Our service alternated between two different servers, one very good and the other fair. Perhaps the big group on the ground floor was overwhelming them. Ample self parking in a lot right beside the building. There is a extensive wine list by the bottle and a small list by the glass. RGinTally"

"We celebrated our 25th anniversary there and they had specially designed menus just for us celebrating our big day. They also prepared a special desert with Happy 25th written in chocolate. Outstanding meal."

"We chose to eat at the Ivy Inn to celebrate Mother's Day. It was simply perfect. We've eaten at the Ivy Inn before, but every time it gets better and better. The food was outstanding, service attentive and courteous, and atmosphere relaxing and quaint. Will definitely be back again (and we live over 2 hours away!)."

"We had a very special Mother's Day meal at The Ivy Inn Restaurant. The food was stellar -- not really a single dish was lacking or unsatisfying in the five courses, and their take on dishes was creative and tasty. We were all very pleased with what a good meal it was. The only negatives were: a slightly higher noise level (making it a bit hard to hear over a large table); the service was a bit slow in tending to us in a couple of spots; and our two children didn't really have many choices on the menu. But overall, having never been there before, we were very happy with the meal and would certainly go back again for a special occasion."

"We have dined at The IVY INN several times for our Anniversary celebrations and it has always been perfect. For Mother's Day we had three teens with us. We were a little concerned that they may not find something on the menu to enjoy!! WRONG! They loved everything and want to go back there soon!! Everything was just perfect. Chef Angelo in fantastic, as always. We will be back!!!"

"Our experience was disappointing. While the food was good our seating was awful. They moved us and it was worse...we were in a bench that was too high and the room was loud. They were out of the wine we ordered and the one recommended by the waiter was awful."

"The Ivy Inn is the most incredible restaurant's in Charlottesville, without a doubt! Having travelled a decent amount, my wife and I have enjoyed some great meals in New York, Chicago, New Orleans - some of the truly great restaurants in the country - and our meal at Ivy Inn has been our favorite.
I am not sure where to start or how to describe the food other than just saying it absolutely blew us away. We started our meal by splitting a salad and appetizer, which was the single best appetizer I've ever had. For dinner, my wife had scallops and I had beef - both of which were cooked to perfection.
But as much as we enjoyed the food, I think the service was even better!
I am out of characters or I would keep going!"

"Our group of 9 senior citizens visiting Charlottesville had a wonderful evening. The salmon, scallop and chicken dinners were excellent. Those having appetizers instead of the dinners had plenty to eat and everything was delicious, especially the one with the crispy egg! It was especially nice having a private room where we were not disturbed by other dinners. Our waitress was efficient and very pleasant."

"old house on country lane. Tableclothes/ well dressed patrons, some birthdaying and anniversarying. Quiet/ staid, but not stoggy.Young, knowledgable,personable staff. Expertly prepared/well presented,short, "foodie oriented" menu (available on Website) emphacizing local and obviously high quality ingredients. Good cocktails, extensive\ample wine list &"wine by the glass" selections. Entrees as good as appetizers. Fine vegetable preparations/ sauces accompanying both my wife's steak and my scallops. I started with a great version of shrimp and grits in an unusual (I think country ham oriented) sauce. Chef taking well conceived, but not "crazy" risks. Sensational English Toffee "thing" dessert. $125 for 2 w/. drinks, coffee,shared dessert."

"We went to ivy inn for our anniversary. They did a nice job, from the complimentary glass of champagne to start off our meal to the special menu we could take along with us. My meal was outstanding (scallops) but my husband's meal was ok (pork chops). Our salads were good and desserts were great. It was a good choice for our celebration."

"The Old Ivy was a tip from a friend and we came here on a anniversary trip. The waitress said the menu changes everyday and I asked what stays on the menu all the time. She said the filet, the lamb and the salmon. The lamb dish was 4 lamb chops on some coucous accompanied with half gyro sandwich. Sounded unusual enough to give it a try even though typically I am not a gyro fan. Buddy let me tell ya it was off the hook. really really good. Also had Shrimp and grits which was very nice as well. great food, good people, great memory of the Old Ivy Inn."

"The Ivy Inn Restaurant food was incredible, it is gourmet food with classic Southern influence. When we got there we were seated immediately and the waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. We received our appetizers and salads in a decent amount of time but received our en-tree approximatively an hour after being seated. The waiter apologized and tended to us as needed, but explained that there was a large party who got their orders in before us which forced everyone else at the restaurant to have to wait.
I got the Spinach Ravioli and my wife got the Chicken with Country Ham, both were impeccable. Overall, great choice for romantic night and excellent food. Would highly recommend to anyone else."

"My daughter,11, and I picked the The Ivy on a whim but once we noticed the Coconut Cake on the menu, we were hooked and booked the table. A huge fan of Coconut, my daughter would eat anywhere that has this menu option but she was also excited about the pork chop. We had a 6:30 reservation but my daughter was declining fast as we finished up the UVA tour after a full day at Montpelier plus the two hour drive from home. I called and they got us in at 5 with no problems. We order a beautiful salad, she has the pork chops (TERRIFIC) and I have the Salmon (FABULOUS) and then dessert! She has been waiting weeks for this dessert! Christian, our waiter comes back to tell us that they are sold out! Bummed but recommend the Toffee Pudding!"

"First let me say I was only here 1 week, doing some training for work. I met a local girl who I wanted to impress, figured I would google "best place to eat in Charlottesville". Well every single site I reviewed suggested The Ivy Inn as #1. This is a no brainer!
I asked her to dinner and suggested The Ivy Inn, she had never heard of it....really? A local who didn't know of such a hot spot. Believe me when I say, she WILL remember this place, as will I. From the first sight walking up to the building, walking in the door, etc...it was very impressive. The appetizer was amazing, I don't even know what it was, something with mushrooms, but wow! She had duck as her entree (as suggested by the amazing waitress), I got the Angus beef. AMAZING!"

"Fantastic trout and osso buco dishes, some of the best we have ever had. I never eat the skin on a trout but did based on this chef's preparation. "My girlfriend requested The Ivy Inn for Valentine's Day and after listening to her talk about it my expectations were very high going in. We were greeted right as we came in and were seated at a simple but well set table. Noise level was very appropriate and the lights were dim but not too much so. It was expensive but well worth it for a romantic dinner. The portions were just enough so that when we got to the end we were both pleasantly full yet not stuffed. The food itself was wonderful and the options, even for a set Valentine's meal would fit any palate. The staff was very attentive and everyone at the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was an overall wonderful experience and I would go back (and most definitely will)."
