Welcome to Davide, Boston's premier authentic Italian restaurant. Located in the Historic North End, Davide has continued to serve outstanding regional Italian cuisine for more than two decades.
Davide is proud to have been an integral part of the North End’s incredible dining scene for over 20 years. Our doors first opened in 1982 and ever since then we have provided Boston with the highest quality culinary creations. Our talented chefs pool their collective years of experience to create dishes that reflect the rich traditions of Northern Italy and at the same time amaze diners with their originality. Their work has earned Davide numerous accolades — "Best Italian" - Pat Whitley Show and Phantom Gourmet - "Greatness" — over the years, including a Five-Diamond award from AAA, a rating of Excellent from Zagat Survey, and recognition as one of the nation’s top 50 Italian restaurants.
"We went to Davide on a cold, rainy Tuesday,a week after the Boston Bombing. It's below ground level made for a warm, cozy dinner setting. When we arrived, here were only a few other diners, which made for an intimate, romantic evening. Loved the mix of music. We were given bread with WONDERFUL dipping oil. We decided to share a salad - good choice because it was huge- more than enough for two.Our meals were served piping hot. The Chioppino contained an generous amount of seafood. My Satler chicken was crispy on the outside, moist and tasty.Part way through our meal a large party arrived.Since Davide is larger than most North End eateries, they were seated in a separate room and we weren't disturbed in the least"

"I have been there several times; this time I was disappointed to find that on Tuesday of this week they had a wine and five course matched tasting and they were still serving several of the same courses that were left over, on Saturday. I learned this after I had ordered and eaten. While there was reasonable taste, the pasta torte puffed pastry was slightly stale, the papadelle was for the first time a pasta that was made days earlier with a ragu that was served top of what appeared to be a simple marinara sauce. Salmon was removed from the menu another disappointment. The service was reasonable only because the Maitre d was vigilant. The wines were enjoyable from the Tuesday affair. They matched well with the courses we had from Tues."

"We ordered traditional food for dinner - lasagne and veal scallopini. The lasagne was good but the veal was not. The veal was tender but the sauce was not good."

"We were a family of 4 visiting Boston on vacation. We shared 2 appetizers - the Bruschette with prosciutto, fig jam, and goat cheese and Stuzzico ( capicola, prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella). Both appetizers were delicious! I had the Tagliatelle with shrimp and preserved lemon, my husband had the Cacciucco, and the kids (age 16 and 14) had the Pappardelle with the short rib ragu. The pastas were perfectly cooked al dente. You could taste the quality of these handmade, homemade pastas. The sauces were nicely balanced in flavor. The Cacciucco had a good portion of different seafood and the broth was fantastic. We shared 3 desserts - the cannoli, the limoncello cake and the tiramisu. All of the desserts were excellent."

"We celebrated my birthday at Davide's and happened to be there during Boston's Restaurant week. Their menu selection and wine pairing was excellent value and delicious. Tables are not close together, so plenty of privacy even if the restaurant was full. Fresh produce and ample portions too! Great personal service! We were there on a Sunday night, so not the busy Saturday night scene. I would suggest going there on the "off nights" if you want that individual attention. Also, great walking location to Fairmont Battery Wharf if you happen to be staying the night."

"Davide is a cute little Italian restaurant with a cozy and intimate ambiance. Usually the food is great: the bread is fantastic, the appetizers are delicious. However, the entree I ordered was not that much different from the usual pasta with red sauce. They do make their own pasta, which is always of the highest quality, but this time around it fell just a little short."

"I rated this restaurant "good" overall because the visit to this previous Kitchen Nightmares restaurant was odd. Why was it odd?.....we were the first customers at 5:30PM on a Sunday with only 6 tables seated by the time we left at 8:00, no candles on tables, chilly inside, only one front of house person: host, waiter, bartender, food runner, busboy all in one - kind of a comedy show. The really nice waiter knew what he was doing and he was trying so hard. Our appetizer special (mozzarella and prosciutto with oil, balsamic) and caesar salad was delicious. We shared the lasagna which was good, but nothing amazing. I can't say anything bad, I just can't say great either, walked away not knowing what to make of the place."

"Great food in a quiet downstairs setting. Went on a Saturday night and, while crowds of people milled outside the other North end Italian restaurants on Hanover Street, waiting for a table to open, Davide's was available and served delicious food just a short walk away.
My wife started with an awesome salad-- big chunk of fresh burrata served over sliced beets. I had the mussels, cooked in a thick tomato-based broth. Light and wonderful. For entrees, we had the veal scallopine and an off-the-menu special of s seafood stew. Both were great."

"Davide was a great restaurant. The service was wonderful. The owner /manager was very helpful in helping us pick great wine and menu items. There isn't a bad choice because everything we had was very good and I'm sure the rest of the menu was just as good so I am not going to tell you each item. All I'm going to say go find this hidden gem a little bit off the main drag in the North End . You will be happy you went"

"I have heard many great things about Davide, but to experience them in person was something else. All 3 courses were simply delicious, I had the salmon and my girlfriend had the lamb chops. I would not hesitate to recommend or to dine in again."

"Enjoyed our dinner at Davide. Menu was less extensive than we expected. Cocktails were delicious. Bruchetta was good. The veal scaloppini was the only veal dish on the menu. It was good. Service was good. Notice I've used the word good and not great. We dined there many years ago and really had high expectations. Honestly, we've dined in several other restaurants in the North End and I'm sad to say that this would not be our first choice."

"Off the beaten path for a reason. Sat with no menus out of first 2 wines ordered server was petrified of guests no floor management presence worst martini I've had just gin in a glass. Food was not bad but service trumps all sorry chef. Do yourself a favor and eat in the true north end."

"The food was fine. They seemed to be out of a lot of the wines on the wine list (maybe it's time for an updated wine list?) They do NOT have a dessert menu which is not too surprising for a North End restaurant but it was cold and snowing so we weren't going to walk down Hanover and wait in line at Modern or Mike's Pastry for some dessert."

"This restaurant is off the beaten path, but well worth the walk from the main North End drag. Setting is romantic -- it is elegant without feeling formal. Service was EXCELLENT -- friendly, efficient, helpful, but not over-bearing.
Most importantly, the food is some of the best I have had at an Italian restaurant in Boston. Everything -- from the soup to the salad to the entree -- was so fresh and flavorful. Not a down-home mom-and-pop pasta and red sauce place, but not a foofy, trendy small-portioned place either. Just perfect. I don't usually write restaurant reviews, but my husband and I enjoyed the food here so much that I feel obligated to let others know about this well kept secret."

"Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. He was attentive and our food was delicious. One diner in our party was vegan and the kitchen accommodated him wonderfully. We had an excellent experience and will definitely be back."

"Second time there and it was as good as the 1st time. Not small, crowded and noisy like the typical North End restaurants. Service was very good. Will definitely go back."

"On a cold night it might have been easier to pop into one of the heavy traffic restaurants on North End however Davide is worth a couple more minutes walk to come to a restaurant where the welcome is warm and genuine and the food is fresh and delicious. The booths make for a cozy intimate romantic dinner and the service was attentive."

"Very good Italian restaurant in the North End. We went on coldest day of year in January in middle of week and found only two other couples dining there. Service was slow but waiter very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent especially the lobster fetuccini. Don't miss the canolis for dessert!"
