"This restaurant can get a little noisy, but the food is always fresh and well prepared and presented. I love the fact that they use local food whenever possible and I can definitely tell the difference in freshness. It can get noisy, especially early when families dine, but that is a small price to pay for consistently excellent food."

"NYAJ's in Watertown is always consistently good with regard to food quality and service. I love that they take special requests in stride. Sauces on the side, extra veggies, whatever I ask for I get with no hassle. Bartenders are also consistently good in making a great martini."

"Service was slow and the waitress was unattentive. It was busy, but she spent a lot of time talking to the manager/hostess and socializing. Had she paid attention to our drinks, the bill could have easily increased which would have increased her tip. Guess it was more important to be social than earn a living and take care of customers. We will be back for the food definitely, but would steer clear of the waitress."

"This was our first time here and it was good because we had a reservation. We were seated on time on a very busy Friday evening. The drink menu was fun especially for seasonal drinks. Food was very good, too! Last but not least, our server was great as he was attentive and knowledgable. Looking forward to going back."

"THough a local chain, its food is the most palatable you'll find at any. We lingered longer than we had a right to and they were accommodating and gracious. And with Open Table, there's no need to wait in the long weekend lines. If they start selling stock shares in their company, I'm in!"

"I love NYAJ in Watertown. The food is always eclectic, fun, and interesting. Our server, Evan, was awesome, great personality, attentive, and presentable. I had the meatloaf, oh yum! Stuff with mozzarella, how can you not get it! Had to have a doggie bag to take the second half home. Also had the 'peanut butter thing' for dessert, definitely a fan favorite. We couldn't finish it and also took it home. My left overs were fantastic the night after. Would definitely recommend. Possibly my favorite chain restaurant."

"I am a frequent diner at this restaurant, becuase the food is always excellent and the service efficient and friendly. We made some requests for changes to our food due to dietary restrictions and preferences and, as always, they were accomodated without hesitation. My friend asked the bartender to make her a nonalcoholic "fruity" cocktail and he did a great job in creating one for her, even going so far as to name it when she asked what it was called. Those extra touches made the experience more enjoyable.
There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, notwithstanding our reservation, but we didn't mind becuase we were likewise not rushed at the end of our meal."

"This trip to Not Your Average Joe's was quite Average. The hostess was a bit antisocial walked us to the table dropped all the stuff on the table and walked away not a single word not even an "enjoy your meal" Second the table was in kind of an odd spot like it was just thrown there to generate one more tables worth of revenue but since I made my reservation on OT that is what I get since I did not want to wait 15-20 minutes for a different table ::shakes head:: Third and final the food was just okay, I had the smokehouse jambalaya; the rice was under cooked and the shells were still on tyeh shrimp (i know this is standard but i can't stand it) my girlfriend enjoyed her meal, she got the cranberry-teriyaki chicken with butternut squash"

"The food was very good as usual. We were seated at a table that was perhaps too large so that conversation was difficult. The noise level in the restaurant is very high making communication with anyone other than immediately next to me almost impossible. The restaurant also dimmed the lights while we were making our menu choices so that the older couple with us couldn't see the menu. When they complained to the waitress, the manager came over and claimed that he had no control of the lights since they were on a timer. He did try to ameliorate the situation by bringing over a few candles."

"I made reservations a day ahead of time and was denied a booth that was clearly available. A couple ahead of us who were walk-ins requested a booth as well and received a booth. The service was extremely slow. They also forgot chicken on a salad and presented it on a plate halfway through the meal without a sincere apology. All in all it was a good meal, but sloppy service."

"Not Your Average Joe's in Watertown was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday. If you join their birthday club you get a free entree and dessert. My companion and I enjoyed our delicious meal of two different salmon choices. My companion chose the Vietnamese salmon entree and I chose the fruit topped salmon. We had the crab cake appetizer, which was excellent. I love the focaccia bread they serve with olive oil and herbs for dipping. My dessert was the butterscotch pudding which I will not order again (not the taste I remember from my childhood). I will most definitely return to NYAJ's for meals in the future, perhaps tonight. I highly recommend this neighborhood style upscale casual restaurant."

"We are on a special diet, so we were pleased that there was a gluten free menu. There were several options for us to select from that met all of our dietary restrictions. I chose the scallops on a rosemary skewer and it was delicious! Also, when they brought out our side salads with cheese on them (we can't have dairy either) they were very nice about taking th salads back and bringing us new ones."

"Not kid friendly. When I made my reservation, I called to let them know that we'll have a baby with us and would like to keep her in our stroller. When we got there, they seated us in an area where strollers were a "fire hazard" and asked that we remove it immediately. Disappointed."
