Tres - SF is dedicated to quality and fun. Our tequila bar features fresh, hand-squeezed lime margaritas and other tasty tequila cocktails, plus Mexican beers on tap. Our food is new to the United States, but we're just taking our cue from the traditional restaurants of Jalisco Mexico. We serve wholesome, soulful renditions of Jaliscan classics using the freshest possible ingredients from Bay Area farmers. And like our counterparts in the special region of Mexico, all side items are included with your meal and served family style.
"The waiter was terrible. It took forever to get our food and drinks. I ordered a beer and it took so long that I walked up to the bar, got a beer, came back and the waiter still took another fifteen minutes to bring the beer I originally ordered. The food order took over 90 minutes!! Beautiful restaurant but too slow and terrible service."

"My first time to Tres... The bar was bustling between the Giants game and the flow of Margaritas to celebrate the day. I came with a party of five. A party in the back was thumping with a DJ, taco truck, and a batter at the pinata. I ordered the carnitas tacos with the best chunks of pork I've ever had. Meaty, tender, and very little-to-no gristle. The chips / salsa are addictive; chipotle salsa and salsa verde are great. The guacamole is also a must order – just like homemade, chunky and well salted. Chicken mole enchiladas – another delicious choice with soft corn tortillas, tender-moist chicken, and a flavorful mole sauce. Our server was as caring and attentive as if it weren't a big, crazy game night happening on Cinco de Mayo."

"Food at Tres has improved recently. We used to go just for the Carnitas. Now there are more items on the menu we enjoy. Queso Fundido is an excellent appetizer, almost a meal. The Chile Rellenos are also quite good. Of course, there are many Tequilas and a good bar, but we actually go for the food. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Nice neighborhood place, especially when the Giants are on the road."

"We have this in our rotation before Giants games because food and drinks are good. The bad points are that service is not always the best and you can barely hold a conversation because of the horrible acoustics. We keep coming back because food is a little more exotic than basic burgers/salads which we get tired of."

"my feelings are mixed...we arrived at 5 pm from the Giants game; my reservation was at 6 pm....while tables were empty perhaps the wait staff was not ready....we were told to go to the patio area in the back ir 20 to 30 minutes....not a very pleasant place for a Grandmother with 3 adult children and 4 (ages 10 to 21 ) grandchildren....and how did they expect that we could hear the page when our table was ready... we had seen the ads at AT&T Park for Tres Agaves....the wait staff was hurried, but pleasant...my feelings are still mixed.....the doorman was kind...."

"Always a gtreat place for nourishment and refreshments before a Giants game. Not nearly as busy as some of the other neighbors and the food is always excellent. Thanks...."

"Every food items is a hit here. The Chile Relleno is such a great interpretation; steamed and filled with vegatables in a wonderful cinnamon scented sauce. The ranchera soup is fresh and loaded with flavor. The Chili Verde is savory and the meat perfectly prepared. Even the tortillas are a hit!"

"First time to eat here and I'll definitely be back. The food and drinks were great, and there are plenty of other items I'd love to try. The one downside was that our server was not very attentive. She was either too busy or not efficient, but we had to wave her down a few times."

"We had a wonderful time here. The service was great and so was the food!! The atmosphere is great and we really like the wood burning ovens and open concept Kitchen. It's also very convenient that it is near the Caltrain station for those of us commuting home after dinner. We will be back."

"Came for the margaritas and we weren't disappointed. The food was equally delicious, not to mention tasty guacamole and plenty of chips to dip in the flavorful salsas. The interior was young and inviting, perfect for it's SOMA location. We'll be back again, likely for a special occasion as the price is slightly over what we'd pay on a typical date."

"As usual, Tres was great. I live in the neighborhood so I stop in a couple of time a month for a cocktail after work. It is a great place for a business lunch as my last visit was. The food was great, the wait staff was attentive and the bill was reasonable. All and all a good experience."

"I actually don't know why we have been back here a few times. I always feel we aren't getting good value for what we get here. Margarita choice is obviously outstanding and the house margarita was good and decent size. Guacomole dip was average and was $10. Got quite a bit though. I had the Carne en Jugo, which was some sort of salted meat that was supposed to have crispy bacon in it. It was basically a soupy kind of thing and was $18.00. My wife had the Carnitas and they were average - $18.50. Had a nice table by the window though, we went early, and it wasn't too noisy. Service was ok, not great. I have to remind myself next time to go for the margaritas and tequila and not the food."

"I booked this place because my husband likes good tequila neat or on the rocks. I knew it was a tequila bar but i didn't know that there wasn't much else. no olives for my martini, no wine selection to speak of (they ran out of white wine) but on that note the food was excellent, well prepared - a party of five we had no complaints. yes addicting guacamole. The waitress was adequate, every time we ordered something she would not wait around to see if anyone else wanted anything. she disappeared. it was strange."

"The restaurant space is in a nice high-ceilinged converted old brick building. I sat near the kitchen, with a coal grill and a rotating spit for chicken. This is different take on Mexican food. Everything I tried was delicious, including the basic marguerita. Very good salsa adn chips too. They were happy to make a cheese enchilada plate, when only a chicken enchilada was on the menu. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with Mexican chocolate ice cream - no wonder I was full."

"Food was good - nothing to rave about but definitely good execution on the typical choices that you'd find in any decent Mexican restaurant. Wide variety of tequila is their main selling point, but having to drive home sort of made that a moot point.
Problem I had was that the service was phenomenally slow. It was a quiet night so perhaps there was insufficient wait staff. Took a good 10 minutes for our first drink order to go in, and it seemed like quite some time before the drinks actually started to filter in (not all came at the same time for a table of four), so it was a bit awkward. Same with the food - three of four entrees showed up, and we waited around for five or so minutes for the last entree."
