"Our Family of 4 went there for brunch on Mother's DAy and were lucky to have reserved a table outside. The service was excellent, the staff all very attentive & friendly, and the food was quite good. I had a Mediterranean Omelet which I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely order again. Others had the Eggs Benedict which they also said was very good."

"The food was okay no bad but not anything great ..I personally think their regular menu is way better & they should have been better off keeping it for Mothers day. My Mediterranean omelet was just ok .. plain tasting .. the kids menus was so blah too ...Denny's could have offered the same for a lot less. We ordered the stuffed french toast ..1 piece $13 that a bit on the high side. It came with 4 raspberries.
I would not come back for a special event only for regular breakfast ..I recommend the bourbon fench toast ..the best!"

"My family and I love this restaurant. We love coming here with friends for brunch on the weekends and dinners for special occasions. They have a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of comfortable seating for a smaller restaurant. Most importantly, their food is fantastic. They smoke their own salmon in-house, and it is not as salty and rough as your ordinary smoked salmon (definitely the best I've had). They have specialties that you can't find anywhere else in this area, such as their Thor appetizer, which consists of 3 types of pickled herring and their famous smoked salmon. Nonni's also offers a wide variety of wines and even Icelandic beers! They use quality and fresh ingredients, and seem to put a lot of care into making their food."

"With downtown restaurants, we don't set the bar too high because of past disappointments. Our experience at Nonni's Bistro blew our socks off. Warm, friendly, attentive service on a busy Saturday afternoon - food was awesome. I had "The Eggplant", which I didn't realize was a sandwich until it arrived, but no matter - beautifully presented and so good that I ate the whole thing. Portions are perfect - not grossly oversized and not nouveau cuisine sparse. Prices are perfect too. My dining companions equally enjoyed their selections. The ambiance was to die for - warm spring (felt like summer!) day so the whole front of the restaurant was open - just gorgeous. Simple, elegant styling, great vista of Main St activity - fabulous experience."

"What a nice find! Small, intimate and charming are all objective adjectives to describe our experience. Excellent service, relaxing atmosphere and great food. We started with the goat cheese crepe and smoked salmon flatbread appetizers. Two of us had the short ribs and one had the mussels. All were superb."

"We love Nonni's, but for some reason, we had a waiter that seemed to ignore us. Also, the day I made a reservation on Opentable it only gave me options of 5:30 or 7. When I got there at 5:30 I told them this. The guy said all their spots were open. I told him what I saw and he actually argued with me. I am an Opentable veteran. I know how to use it. BTW, he was also our waiter. I don't like him. But I do like the resauranr"

"We were there for a 6:30p res. They were not super busy which was a good thing as their appeared to be one waiter and one bus person. The restaurant is small and has some tables outside so I would not bring small children. We sat next to a large open window. The menu is not extensive but every dish we ordered was very good. The wines offered had a nice variety and the prices were very reasonable. What was really nice is we were not rushed. I would definitely go back."

"The food was very mediocre. The short ribs had not much flavor to them. The soup of the day was very good. The rosemary dinner rolls were doughy. I had the pumpkin ice cream with ginger cake for dessert, and the ginger cake was very wet and sort of weird. I ate only the ice cream."

"Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Nonni's Bistro. The salmon salad was delicious; salmon perfectly cooked and greens, capers & dressing nicely complimenting it. Would definitely order it again. We were delighted to meet the Icelandic chef who came to our table and recommended some delicious wines. The noise level was quite energetic when we arrived making it a bit difficult to hear but improved when the large party seated in the center of the room departed."

"We had guests in from out of town, and they wanted to take us to dinner. We haven't been to Nonni's for awhile, so we chose to go to there. All of our dinners were delicious, and service was great. We always appreciate the personal touch from wait staff. We look forward to dining there again soon."

"Restaurant was half full on a Sunday evening - but still cozy and the servers gave everyone extra attention. Their famed smoked salmon platter was yummy. The grilled flat iron was tasty, but not as perfectly grilled on outside as had before. They are masters with a basil vinaigrette!"

"Wish there was room to put the review. If you really want to read it go to the linked-in site and go to the Pleasanton Ca group. We arrived at 8AM for our reservation and we have been there many times and even for mothers day. There were 3 of us. Well the hostess did not feel comfortable sitting us at a window because the restaurant might be busy. WHAT? No worries we went to SCOTTS restaurant in Walnut Creek. AWESOME. To the owner of Nonni's this is just the beginning of my review. When you stop treating repeat customers and residents of Pleasanton like good customers, it is time for you to close your doors Sir!"

"Nonni's Bistro is a find! Friends and I picked Pleasanton as a central place to meet for lunch. I looked on Open Table and saw Nonni's Bistro. It looked good. It was great! Far exceeded expectations. The service was wonderful. The food was super! I had a cobb salad made like it should be with real turkey, bacon, avocado, blue cheese dressing etc. My friends were equally happy about their meals. Great wine list by the glass and bottle. Would drive all the way to Pleasanton again to eat at Nonni's."

"Very good little Pleasanton restaurant, capable staff, food well prepared. Good selection of dishes with a leaning toward Sandanavian cuisine. The staff was very nice and didn't intrude on our dining experience, except when needed. A very enjoyable evening."

"When we arrived on a Wed. evening, the place was full, but we had reservations. It was very noisy. We were given menus, bread and wine. Then no one asked for our orders for about half an hour. There was only one server. We had to ask to order. When the food came, it was quite good. I had the lamb shank with potatoes. Something green on the plate would have been nice. The restaurant was more pleasant when most of the diners cleared out. The light is quite bright, not much ambience. The breakfast menu looks interesting."

"This was a great spot for lunch with friends. Good food, cute place. Can sit outside if you want. The only negative was that, although we had a reservation, it didn't seem to make a difference and they didn't have a table for us because a large party had come in. (?) So we just had to wait about 25 minutes but then we had a really nice lunch."

"1st time to visit this restaurant. Are only in the area once or twice a year. Usually dine at Haps in Pleasanton. Will now dine at Nonni's in the future. The food was excellent, the service was very good. It was a Friday night and there was never an empty table but it did not seem disorganized. They probably could use a larger venue but the present one is cozy with just a moderate amount of noise. We are seniors so noise can be an issue. Definitely a recommended place to dine."

"We loved Nonni's. Our first time but we'll definitely be back. The Thor appetizer was great, we lived the herring and (cold) smoked salmon. For main courses we had the braised short ribs and the vegetable cassoulet, both very tasty and well prepared. Very friendly service, attentive and made good recommendations. The food was served on time and warm. Nice European touch in a cozy neighborhood ambiance, definitely worth coming back."

"This was my second time dining at Nonni's Bistro. First time was for dinner. Was just as impressed with food quality and service during lunch. My friend and I both ordered salads. The Chicken Curry Salad and Cobb both were beautifully presented, amply portioned and delicious. Homemade rolls were savory and yummy. Shared the bread pudding; moist and delicious. Server was attentive, friendly, but not intrusive. Nonni's provided a lovely venue to catch up with a good friend over lunch."

"I took my friend for her birthday lunch and was nicely surprised. I never had the opportunity to lunch at Nonni's before so when we entered it was NOT a disappointment. We were excited about the menu that we didn't know what to choose but we ended up with great choices. I would definitely go again and try something different. You can tell the clientele was either business or casual (like us). Overall I really like it, we loved the food, pleasant staff and clean bright atmosphere."

"My wife and I went for valentines day. The food was fantastic, but I didn't think that it was a little to expensive. The service was good but not great. We didn't get our water refilled without asking. I was not asked if I wanted another glass of wine and my wife didn't get her soda refilled. The quality of the food saved the day, though. The rack of lamb and filet was wonderful. Texture was perfect."

"The person who called ahead to confirm our Valentines Night reservation failed to mention that there was a "special" Valentine's Day 3-course prix fix menu at $69 per person. My husband is a vegetarian and there were no veg'y options on the menu, so they offered 1 of 2 pasta dishes. He said his mushroom ravioli was one of the worst dishes he's ever had. My scallops were under-seasoned and on a bed of greens and cold butter sauce. Weird. Dessert wasn't even good. It is a small dining room with way too many tables. The regular menu looked interesting and the reviews were good, so I was very disappointed that the food and experience was such a disaster. We only had 1 glass of wine and the bill was $110 for 2. Definitely not worth it."

"This is one of those places that does everything right that needs done right. Great outdoor seating with blankets and heaters, good wine selection with local wines, and very good food. We order the goat cheese crepe for an appetizer. Awesome. We ordered the special and the mushroom ravioli. Great. And the creme brûlée for dessert was delicious. All in all a wonderful night out."

"I had one of the best meals in a long time at Nonni's. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food fresh and freshly prepared and some nice wines by the glass. As I was dining alone, I didn't get to sample too many things, but everything on the menu looked excellent and I had a hard time choosing. It's a limited menu in terms of numbers of things, but there is a wide range of items (not ten beef dishes, in other words). The kids menu is fun, too (too bad mine live 1200 miles away). I had a great meal at a reasonable price and will return when back in town."

"After reading reviews, we were excited to try Nonni's. We arrived at 6:32 for a 6:30 reservation, and were seated immediately. The waitress appeared promptly and took our order. We had brought a special bottle of wine, and I told her the cork was very long, hoping she understood. But no, she snapped the cork right in half. She didn't apologize, just kind of laughed it off. Then it really started to go downhill. Exactly 60 minutes after we placed our order, the food came out. She had come back once in that time to say out food would be right out. Not so. We were not even offered more water even though we had emptied the carafe. The table next to us was seated about 20 minutes after we were, and their food came out two minutes after ours."

"Saturday night dining, the restaurant was full. Reservations were absolutely necessary! The noise was beyond energetic - it was flat out LOUD, making table conversation possible, but challenging. We chose to have coffee/dessert somewhere else as a result. The tables are TOO close to each other, resulting in s omeone's back side getting too close to your food as they got in and out of their seating. Three of us loved our food, the fourth thought it was just so-so. My salmon was described as being served on a bed of beans - I was expecting green beans. It was a pile of white beans, fava beans, and other legumes. The salmon was delicious, cooked perfectly. The beans were a terra-cotta colored pile - didn't look appetizing & I didn't try them"
