"If you are looking for a dining experience this is the spot. The food is delightful a little reminder of food that moma used to make. As someone who has eaten here on many occasions, I find it hard to resist. It’s a versitle spot where you can meet good friends, take out a client or share a glass of wine with someone you love. The portions are adequate and filling, leaving you feeling like you got your money's worth. Best service at a restaurant in the city by far. I will definately be back!"

"The food was great, the noise level at our location was high and the service was very bad. We had to wait the entire night for a water refill even though we had specified we were dinning there for a special occasion. The waiter made sure to tell us every time we asked for something that he was very busy with other customers and we had to wait."

"I booked this restaurant for my husbands 50th birthday. My husband dropped us off to park and we entered the restaurant and were seated. When my husband came in the hostess ignored him so eventually he texted me to ask where we were seated. The waiter was very attentive and efficient and we enjoyed his service. The food was Ok.Our friend had pizza which he enjoyed very much. My husband had spaghetti carbonara which he felt was very bland. I had the seafood risotto and I was disappointed- flavourless but the seafood itself was perfectly cooked. I would imagine it wouldn't offend anyone but it certainly wouldn't excite them either. It wasn't an unpleasant experience all in all, just one I wouldn't care to repeat."

"We selected Al Porto for a business lunch and found the ambience and noise level to be just fine for conversation. The server was attentive and helpful when I asked about vegetarian options (almost none on the menu). I am looking forward to the day when restaurants attend to the large number of diners who are vegetarian. However, once the food arrived it was bland. The tomato sauce on the penne pasta was boring, although the sun-dried tomatoes were nice. I checked with my colleague who ordered the wild mushroom risotto and she, too, said that her meal was bland. Finally, it seems unnecessary to charge for a refill of iced tea."

"We went for an earlier dinner with a Groupon on a Saturday, and had the place to ourselves for about an hour. Service was attentive without being annoying.
Food was delicious. We started with the bruscetta, spinach soup and in salata mista, and followed with the salsiccia pizza and penne salsiccia. All were very delicious, with our favourite being the pizza which we ended up taking 1/2 of it home. We were too stuffed for dessert, although I think next time we'll save some room.
We will definitely return to Al Porto!"

"I've been there a few times now however I find the service of the servers hit and miss. Sometimes when I am with a table of 2 or 3 I feel the service lacks when there is a larger table nearby being taken care of the same server. "We always enjoy Al Porto,from the warm welcome to the pleasant farewell.Last Sat. we both enjoyed the generous tomato bocconcini salad with lots of fresh basil and the lovely halibut special,moist and perfectly cooked.When we mentioned the pasta was tepid it was immediately replaced.The wine list offers a good selection at different price points which is appreciated.
As 2 "mature" ladies we enjoy the attentive but never intrusive service and will continue to return."

"Our son chose Al Porto for his special birthday meal and it did not disappoint.
We arrived early for the early-bird special and chose a pasta and appetizer for each diner. ($18) My son chose a chicken penne dish that he loved coupled to a caesar salad. My wife and I chose the Goat cheese with candied walnut salad and the seafood fetuccini.
Both the salads and the pastas were very good. The seafood was a bit sparse: mine had two mussels, two shrimp and two clams while my wife had two mussels, two clams, two shrimp and two scallops. Luckily she shared a scallop with me.
The house wine was a Chilean Pinot Noir which, for $35, was a bargain and suited the meal perfectly.

"We went for Valentine's day night. Warm atmosphere with friendly server, it was a great experience. They had special Valentine's Day menu, which was good, but they did not have greens for that night, which I thought was strange. Food was great, service was great, although it was not inexpensive. "I came here with a large group of 15 people. The restaurant was really accommodating about keeping us seated together, and the service we received was top notch. Food and service were prompt, even with our large group size, and everything was absolutely tasty. Everyone in our group left, happy, and I would really recommend Al Porto for anyone needing a great spot to host a big group of hungry people!"

"Service was ok. With a large party of 12, gratuities were automatically included and I think this brought the service down a notch. I've been here before many times and servers are normally very attentive. The food took way longer than expected, I wasn't paying attention but it must have been over 30 minutes for our food. Also one person ordered an appetizer soup they forgot and came out at the same time as his main course.
In the end, the server was nice though and I have had better experiences so I still recommend this place."

"restaurant was really accommodating about giving us the seating that we wanted. Food and service are always reliably good, so that is why I continue to return here. We came here for Valentine's - I would have preferred the full menu, but the set menu was fine, though I would have preferred larger portion sizes for both the salad and dessert (smaller size tiramisu, chocolate ganache torte and 2 chocolate-dipped strawberries to be shared between two), and a few more options for the pasta (there were only two gnocchi and risotto). The chocolate cake was decadent perhaps the best I have ever had. I chose the filet mignon with vegetables, including portobello mushroom, were melt-in-your mouth. Waiters were very attentive."

"went for valentines day, they had a set menu. There were a few courses for a reasonable price, included desert to share. The food was great, I had the chicken which was very good.
Service was excellent, our waiter was attentive and helpful. The restaurant staff seemed organized from when we walked in and we were seated quickly."

"We came on Valentines Day and were disappointed with the food.
The tournedo was cooked raw the first time when it should have been medium rare.
When it came back the second time it looked microwaved and was tasteless.
My halibut and scallops were over cooked.

"Al Porto is an annual tradition while my group participates at the Vancouver Spa Show. While the food and atmosphere is always great, our server dropped the ball a little. A couple of ladys had to wait quite a while after been seated to order drinks. I wanted to order appetizers but could not find our server. Bread was not brought until after we asked for it. When the bread came it was another 10 minutes before the oil and vinegar came.
It appeared that the server was fairly new and if that is the case, a senior server should have been helping for a table of 9.
Just my 2 cents, see you next year."

"Had higher expectations for this restaurant, service was super slow. Appetizers were excellent, entrees were fair would not reccommend to friends, well after we finished our entrees the waiter brought our bill first and our dessert hadn't even arrived yet. The waiter explained and said the chef is so busy preparing 100 desserts at the same time thats why it took some time but the table next to us arrived 30 mins later than us had recieved their dessert and exchanging glances both tables knew the waiter simply forgot. I love italian and that is why I was so ecstatic to go try Al Porto for my first dineout experience but the food and service was not outstanding at all to make me feel like going back there."
