"Went to Il Lupino for Mothers Day Brunch. Good Eggs Benedict. Only issue was seating. The reastaurant was nearly empty at 1015 AM, yet despite my Open Table reservation, we were seated int the back right next to the kitchen. When I asked the hostest if we could move to a table away from the Kitchen, she said she'd have to check and see what was available (?). There was only one other party in the restaurant and about 20 empty tables!!! We were seated at a nicer table up front - end of issue."

"The gnocchi is to die for- light and fluffy and the truffle sauce is yummy. The caprese was different- the balsamic comes in the form of little balls which provide a burst of flavor. The pizza is more like a flatbread and the type of mushrooms they had on it was kind of strange. The service was impeccable and the staff were really great with the kids. We ate at 5:30 pm and were practically the only ones dining for the most part we were there."

"Cons: Awkward service, food overpriced and uninspired. Pros: nice outdoor seating; wine was good. Definitely not for those looking for a memorable meal. Foodies would be extremely disappointed by what you get for the price"

"This restaurant is reasonably priced and walkable from many hotels in the Waikiki Beach area. The service is always good and making a reservation through Open Table increases your likelihood of getting an outdoor table."

"OK, so you're in Waikiki and thinking, "Italian in Hawaii, would we want to eat Italian food in the tropics?" Our answer in this case is YES! The setting with a view of the Royal Hawaiian gardens if very nice, we ate al fresco and it was perfect. The food was REALLY delicious; there were five of us foodies and we all liked our dinners. A criticism, if you could call it that, is the Chessecake Factory-sized helpings. In our case both the appetizer and entre could have been split between two people."

"This was our third visit to Il Lupino and we're VERY disappointed with the experience. The bottle of red wine was a little warm so we asked for a wine bucket -- which our waiter forgot to bring. 40 minutes after arriving, we had olive oil and vinegar in our bread plate, but no bread. My husband finally asked for the manager, who explained that they were waiting for bread to finish baking. She also went to check to see if she could expedite our food order. The arugala salad was then served almost immediately. The poached pears and candied nuts were delicious but the dressing was extremely salty. Entrees were good and we skipped dessert as we were late for a show. To top off the evening, we had to ask for a corrected bill. Thumbs down."

"we've dined at Il Lupino a few times and really enjoy the option of a light meal on the island. their arugula is out of this world - so this salad, some bread and a glass of red wine and voila! you've got a nice meal. their desserts are fantastic too."

"We enjoyed our dinner there but were disappointed that we couldn't order the Happy Hour specials from our table. The last time we were there in 2012 we had a great time with the delicious Happy Hour or "Pau Hana" as we say in Hawaiian, specials. Chef Sakada passed away and I guess things have changed. The ambiance though is still very wonderful."

"My wife and I had dinner here February 27th 2013. The waiter recommended the Gnocchi saying the are little pockets of amazingness and he was right. We had a fantastic Italian wine to go with dinner that wasn't too pricey."

"our server gave a great recommendation on dinner choices and he was right. It was so yummy. The only thing was as the night went on, we saw our server less and less. We had to keep asking the busboy for bread and the check."

"Be prepared to be there a loooong time. From when we were first seated until we left took 2 hours. It was fine as we had a few courses and were just enjoying each other's company, however, if you had somewhere to be following your dinner you may end up very late."

"The outdoor portion of the restaurant is beautiful at night. I have actually never sat inside. I've looked in and it looks nice. The bartenders are friendly and if you get the right one (Jeb) he is very knowledgeable on their food, alcohol, and wine pairings.
The food is hit and miss. The gnocchi here is outstanding (perhaps revelatory). So far it is the best I've had and I have had a lot. It is the main reason I go. A lot of people love the huge meatball, I think it is okay. They have a great salumeria plate 3 meats, 3 cheeses for $25. They pair it with nice jam and mustard. They also have fresh loaves of bread.
Overall, it is worth the money. Even the food that is not their best effort is okay. That which they do well, is amazing."

"Great Italian cuisine at least as good as an italian nonna and that is saying something. Pastas were excellent as were the desserts and the service. In comparison to other restaurants in Honolulu we thought it was a little pricy but at least the food was first class."
