Since we began in 1985, our traditional style of cooking has been based on our European philosophy and culture "Fresh From Scratch and From the Heart".
Thierry, Chef and Restaurant Owner, opened the renowned L’Etoile in Alamo Heights in 1985 and in 2007 added a second restaurant- The Grill at Leon Springs. Using French culinary experience and expertise, he creates dishes that originate in France but combine exquisite flavors and ingredients from all over the world.
Our open kitchen showcases the chefs cooking over our unique imported wood fired grill. Our reputation is based on our specialty seafood items, including Halibut, Red Snapper, Scallops and Lobster. We also offer steaks as well as gourmet dishes and Pizza, cooked on our wood fire oven.
We frequently update our menu in order to use seasonal produce.
Join us for lunch or dinner and experience the Texas Hill Country's finest European Cuisine, with an authentic American flair.
"Our favorite restaurant in the area and one of our favorites in all of san antonio. Food and service are always awesome. If only the hostess didnt always look so stressed... LOL"

"I have always had a very good dining experience at The Grille at Leon Springs and this time was no exception. Our waiter was very attentive and made excellent suggestions from the day's menu. Chef Thierry Burkle made a point to come by our table to make sure we were happy with our dishes. On our way out, owner/manager Armand offered us a drink on the house so we could enjoy a little time on the patio to hear the live music. Another excellent meal and the reason I keep coming back!"

"Went for Sunday brunch after reading great reviews, but was disappointed. Service was fair to poor. Drink glasses left empty too long, finished plates just sat on the table, and we were made to wait for quite awhile on waffles. The waiter told us that they were being made as we sat there with empty plates, and then minutes later I saw him just go up to a warming tray and pull out pre-made waffles and bring them to us. Won't be back."

"AS MANY TIMES AS WE HAVE BEEN TO THE SUNDAY BRUNCH, THIS SUNDAY WAS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING. THE SELECTIONS ON THE BRUNCH WERE POOR. I GUESS FOR IT BEING EASTER WE WERE EXPECTING A MUCH BETTER SELECTION SINCE THIS WAS GOING TO BE OUR EASTER MEAL."

"This was our first visit to The Grill at Leon Springs and we will be back. I had the escargot as my first course while my husband had the fish tacos. Both were very good and we knew that we would be in for a treat with our entrees, panko crusted tilapia with corn relish and pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce. We don't usually have dessert and when we do we usually share one but this time we had the assorted sorbet and the apple crepia. We are so glad we decided to have our own desserts and it was a perfect way to end our meal. We were pleased with the choice in wines and beers. I woulld highly recommend this restaurant."

"Excellent beef stroganoff and, vietnamese crab claws appetizer. Service unexceptional and not particularly attentive. Wine spilled on the table without an apology."

"Fabulous polite, accomodating and efficient service from Jose and delicious food made for an enjoyable lunch at the Grill. We started with the crabcakes which were chock full of the REAL stuff and encased in a perfectly-cooked delicate crust.A portion of super-fresh greens and a mound of crispy shoestrings came with the order. My husband enjoyed the fresh, flaky blackened drum entree and I devoured the incredibly-yummy grilled shrimp sandwich. The brioche roll...the shrimp....the avacado salsa...what a wonderful, tasty, palate-pleasing trio! My only complaint is that the restaurant was very cold (hard to regulate in an old building, I realize)."

"Armand and Nicole were awesome hosts, the food was delicious, the wine selection left little to desire. And that was our first visit... but absolutely will not be the last."

"We've been to the Grill twice and enjoyed it, but it was much busier than we'd seen it before. We arrived at 7:30 with a 7:30 reservation, the free valet took our car and we were seated immediately - great!
We were markedly underwhelmed with the service after that however - we had to hunt down our waiter a couple of times; he did not clear dishes; we asked for spoons at one point and he never brought them; water was not refilled, etc. For a restaurant at this price level, we expected better.
Food was well prepared & presented, but suffered in comparison to previous visits. An oyster appetizer was so overwhelmed with toppings that we weren't sure there were oysters in it!
We might be back, but it has moved down our list."

"Always good. Always. Love the food and atmosphere here. Only issue this time was the water guy. Didn't come by enough at first but we got that straightened out."

"Great menu and wine list. Bonus daily specials. Attentive staff. Food was prepared well, presented nicely, and tasty to boot! Ample portions, we took home about half of what we ordered and enjoyed it at home a day or so later."

"Food was excellent. Our waiter was great but getting seated was a chore even though we had a reservation. We were seated 30mins late and told we were being given the "best table in house" to make up for the wait. Ok, we really didn't care about that kind of thing but whatever. Less than a minute or two after sitting down they came back and asked us to move to a table in the bar area. Ha! We didn't move. Excellent food though - the rack of lamb was crazy good."

"We had asked to have a table away from the kitchen and quiet (if possible) to celebrate my husbands birthday. The hostess took us to a table directly next to the kitchen area. I informed her that we had stated in the "special instructions" on Open Table that we requested to be away from the kitchen and a quiet area to celebrate my husbands birthday. Her response was "if that is what you want than you will have to wait another 15-20 minutes". My husband went to the front desk and spoke to the head hostess who gave us a new table immediately. However, the table was not in a quiet area (there are no quiet areas) in the restaurant.
The waiter was beyond terrible. He forgot to bring the bread and water."

"Started with the wedge salad - great tangy blue cheese dressing! This one's big enough to share. I had the rack of lamb and it was so delicious! Great wine list, great ambiance. Loved it!"

"This is our second time going here as we came away extremely impressed with the first outing. From a food perspective, again, we were very happy with the end to end experience as the food was absolutely delicious.
Service on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. This was weird as the first time out there they were completely spot on. Don't know if the waiter just couldn't concentrate or was having a long day, but it just wasn't a good night from a customer perspective.
Waiting at the table 5 minutes before anyone came over...and all night had to constantly flag the waiter down because he would never come by.
We'll go back at some point, but really put off by the wait staff that evening."

"The food was great! The salmon I ordered was perfectly seasoned and grilled. The wine list was reasonable. The service was good. The restaurant tends to be a quite noisy, so having a romantic meal is somewhat of a challenge."

"Overall, very good...but a couple of problems. I brought a birthday cake for a special birthday, left it with the hostess and communicated the occasion with her. She then told me to communicate it to the waiter. (I think that she should have done this for me. The reason I asked her to do it was so that it could be a surprise. Comminicating it to the waiter at the table sort of blew the surprise.). Then The waiter couldn't find the cake and came back to the table twice to ask me about it. By then the surprise element was pretty much dead in the water). Cake finally came out after quite a delay, and there was no knife to cut...so when he came back we asked for a knife. He brought it back for the pastry chef, but served it with Inciden"
