Selected by LEO & Louisville Magazine reader's polls as "Best New restaurant 2005", Café Lou Lou offers casual dining in a funky pop art space. Food is fabulously eclectic & servings are generous. Please call for availability for larger parties.
"We went with our children and the noise level didn't leave us feeling like our rambunctious 4 year old was out of place. The ambiance wasn't too loud, it was just right.
The food was very good. I had the special, a salmon filet, and my wife had a pasta dish. We both enjoyed it. We also had the shrimp & grits (a little two runny for my taste, but good) and the breadsticks with the cajun spread and salsa and that was fantastic."

"The food and service was, as usual, very good. It was a Friday night crowd ... and it was crowded. The acoustics at Lou Lou's are poor and when the restaurant is crowded it is really loud. We took an out-of-town guest to dinner for what we thought would be a nice quiet conversation. Due to the popularity of Lou Lou's ... having a conversation was difficult at best. I believe they have attempted to buffer the sound somewhat, but it wasn't effective with a full house."

"Shredded sandwich meat in my $16 pasta entree, really? You couldn't cook a real chicken breast in my Chicken Piccata Pasta? Instead, I got shaved and shredded, processed, chicken sandwich meat. The server was friendly, but she was rushing to turn our table. This is a bar that happens to serve pizza and tries to serve food like a restaurant. It failed on all counts. Don't bother. Eat elsewhere."

"Cafe Lou Lou has been one of our go to places and a place that we recommend and take other couples to eat. This time we had a not so great experience. First of all the took off my favorite menu item - the ravoli with shrimp in the vodka cream sauce. I ordered the pesto shrimp special and it was lacking in flavor. Also we normally get great service and this time our waitress didn't seem thrilled to be there and didn't come by the table very often or even ask hour our food was even though she recommended special to me to see if I liked. To top it off off their Louisville Original card system was down and we didn't get to add points to our card on that visit. They did note on the receipt about it so we can bring back next visit."

"We had a great dinner at Cafe Lou Lou and our server was very attentive. The food was really good however my daughter ordered a little pizza with 3 toppings and it ended up costing over $17. I had chicken bowtie pasta with blue cheese and it was delicious! If we lived in Louisville, I would definitely go back. My only "complaint" would be the noise level. It was very loud. There seemed to be an abundance of not-very-well-behaved children screaming and I felt like we were shouting at each other to be heard. Perhaps it would be less noisy at lunch? Overall, a tasty dinner."

"Loud, busy, bar/dining area too close together for good eating vs. drinking. menue looks great but mixed feelings, my wife's pasta meal was good but mind was not and I could not finish it. Couple with us had same experience also."

"Had lunch at Cafe Lou Lou and thought the food was good. Not the best italian restaurant in louisville, but good service and lots of choices for anyone on the menu."

"Our family enjoyed dinner on New Year's Day this year, with four generations at the table. Cafe Lou Lou was perfect - good food, service, and a comfortable and warm ambience."

"Great Server helped us out and watched over us. I had the Ceasar Salad, which was OK, They served a heap of chicken, too much actually. Everyone was courteous. I split a meatball sandwhich as well, which was delivered, hot. Remember, this place is casual. Everything came out as it was presented in the menu. You get what you pay for here."
