Prime Steakhouse provides superior service as well as perfectly prepared steaks and seafood. USDA beef, dry aged and cooked over an open mesquite flame. What sets Prime apart from other steakhouses in town is that Prime doesn’t try to fix something that isn’t broken. "We truly enjoyed our dinner at Prime Steakhouse. My husband ate from the regular menu and I chose from the 5280 menu that they were still honoring.(Check the website and then ask.) The food was excellent, especially the lobster bisque which was out of this world. My husband, a true foodie, wished he would have gotten a bowl instead of a cup. Kevin, out waiter, was great. He knew the difference between paying attention and hovering--always there when he was needed. We dined early, before going to the theatre, so it was pretty quiet, but the bar seemed to be doing a roaring business."

"We had the prix fixe before theater meal - $18.95! Lobster bisque to start, an enormous pork chop, nicely cooked salmon, and mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Dessert was lemon sorbet and cherry crisp - all for $18.95. Of course our wine was more than the food, but they did have $10 bottles of wine available.

The service was excellent, with a very friendly waiter who did not hover.

All in all, a very good experience."

"We had a reservation for Friday at 8pm. We arrived at the restaurant at 5 minutes to 8 only to be told by a woman with a lot of attitude that they would come and get us when it was a little bit closer to 8. She seemed completely irritated that we were there on time. We then went and shoved our way into the over packed bar (6 of us) where we waited until 10 minutes till 9pm when they finally came and got us. The waiter was rude and the mixed drinks were not good. The food was good, but after every thing else it didn't really matter. We would have been better off not having reservations and going some where else. I would not recommed this restaurant, especially to anyone that had some where to be following dinner."

"Hubby and I went for 5280. We went early, so staff was attentive. It was starting to get busy just as we left around 7:30 pm. We went to dinner before a show. Hubby had lobster bisque and surf and turf. I had a wedge salad and salmon. The lobster bisque was the best part of the dinner. Amazing flavor! The rest as okay, not horrible (especially for the price), but we've definitely had better steak at other downtown steakhouses. I ordered my salmon rare, but didn't get it that way. I didn't send it back, although I think I could have. We may go back again, especially since our server was so accomodating knowing that we were trying to get to a show at DCPA."

"When you first pull up to the restaurant it kind of looks like a hole in the wall, but once we got inside it was almost elegant. We were seated one table from the entrance on the lower level, and the high traffic area took a LOT away from the ambiance. Our server was excellent and really seemed to know the menu and made great suggestions. The service was great, our waters were never less than half full. We had the 5280 menu with the soups, then surf and turf which were amazing. The filet almost melted in your mouth. I did not appreciate that my cheesecake was warm had more of a mousse texture than cheesecake. The coffees we had were wonderful. Totally a great place for steak, with only a few issues."

"Our experience was over all very good but we will probably never be back. Our server was very polite and created a wonderful dining experience. We will never be back because prime steakhouse does not give the guest what they want. My husband and I where celebrating our fourth anniversary and we made a reservation online requesting a booth. When we got there the hostess told us she would try to have us seated by our time that the reservation was made. We where brought to a small table by the door and when we asked for a booth we where told that we could not sit there because we where not a four top..... I told her that our reservation requested a booth. Long story short all the booths around us ended up being two tops."

"My wife and I ate at Prime Steakhouse as part of Denver Restaurant Week. We would normally not eat here otherwise due to the prices of the entrees. Plus, we really are indifferent on fancy places like this anyway.

The food was really tasty, very high quality and good temperature. We also noticed this was the best slice of cheesecake we ever had; better than The Cheesecake Factory!

We would go back, but only during Denver Restaurant Week or if they cut the prices on the entrees by at least 50%"

"Decent restaurant. I went there to take advantage of restaurant week and I'm glad that dinner only cost me $52.80 (plus drinks, tip, etc) because I think it would've been pricey for the quality of food received. The ambiance is nice, the hostess was great and our server was pretty good, however I found that the food was just adequate. Overall not a bad dining experience, just OK."

"The waiter wrote what the tip should be on our ticket. We were with a bunch of couples and we all thought this was very rude and belittling to us. We are all in the customer service industry and some would have tipped more than 20%. It almost seems as thought they did not think we would tip, and we almost didn’t want to leave a tip due to that. Other than that everything was great.

"Server was great...friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was perfect. 5280/Restaurant Week menu was nice, food was well prepared and tasty. Portion sizes we perfect. We left satisfied, not stuffed. Great cocktails (LOVE a restaurant with bleu chesse stuffed olives for my martini!), nice wine list. My daughter (17 yrs) LOVED the french onion soup! She did comment that the cheesecake was a bit on the "warm" side."

"The food was wonderful. We had the surf and turf. The lobster bisque was a lovely shade of peach. The buttery lobster flavor was smooth and creamy. I would order that alone! The bread basket had a variety of different artisan breads to choose from. All of the wait staff are male. Impeccable manners. The table setting is formal with white starched linens. The place reminded me of an east coast place. Chairs are not as comfortable as some places. We ate at 9 pm and it was still very busy. Not a choice if you want romance. Very busy and tables a little too close for much intimacy. The restaurant was clean. Valet parking is a must here."

"Went for the 52.80 menu during restaurant week. Surf and Turf was wonderful! Steak came out perfect and the lobster was very good. Defiantly not the kind of surf and turf you normally receive on a value menu. Portion size was good and the soup - salad and dessert paired well.

Kevin, our waiter was fantastic, he spent time with us and was very personable, but left us alone and did not rush our dinner just to try and turn the table. It's amazing what a difference a good waiter makes in an overall dining experience. He's a keeper.

We will defiantly be back."

"The food was wonderful and the service was lacking. Despite having reservations, we waited a half hour to be seated and another 15 minutes before anyone approached us - and approach was initiated by me. Service improved some and we still left a 20 percent tip - so was very surprised to see my online bank statement show we were charged more than I signed for. Now I have to call Prime Steakhouse and speak with a manager. No meal is worth the nuisance."

"This restaurant was quite a bit better than I expected. Valet parking for $4 was a really nice plus and we probably couldn't have found it for less. I loved the ambiance. Lots of dark wood, old B&W photos. We went early at 5:30 and service was excellent until the end when they started to get really busy. The food was wonderful and our waiter, Chris, was personable, friendly, and helpful without being too familiar or intrusive."

"This was a less than perfect experience. We had an 830 reservation and still were not seated until almost 9. The main course didn't arrive until about 10. Our server did not come by often, and as a result, my wife and I only had one drink each. Obviously foods were on special for Restaurant week, but the normal cost was the same as Sullivan's normal cost. I would choose Sullivan's as a better restaurant for the price any day of the week. The servers really lacked composure. I have found that a staff that makes their service look effortless makes for a fantastic experience. Prime offered a frantic, stressed, and panicked staff which really detracted from the evening."

"I've dined at hundred's of high end restaurants world wide--this was truly one of the best meals I ever had. Top tier wine list at unbeleivable prices! "For the most part well above average, however when remarks were passed about a rather dismal side dish the waitperson, otherwise attentive, ignored it, not did not offer any set-off. This action, or lack of any, reduced our view of the establishment to less than first rate, especially with the prices charged on the a la carte, and above average wine prices. We had far better attention and interest from a waitperson the previous day at the Great Big Fat Greek Restaurant on S. Broadway, with all points of food top drawer. While cutesy with the nautical theme of the young make servers in yacthsmens evening clothes, not much will persuade us to visit again on planned visits to the Denver area"

"We recommend this restaurant and plan to go back. We dined here Valentine's evening. Starting with valet service, and then the receptionist, and then to our waiter, all staff were friendly and attentive. We both recommend the crab cakes, which were very good. My French onion soup was good. I’d recommend it, however it was not the best I've ever had. It was a tad salty and could have had a little more cheese. My man thoroughly enjoyed his spinach salad. Our food, surf and turf, was excellent. For desert, my man enjoyed the key lime cheesecake and I really liked the cherry crumble with vanilla ice cream. The bottom line equals great food, service, atmosphere, and a warmed car waiting after the meal (waiter notifies valet for you)."

"My wife and I had an incredibly romantic dinner at Prime. The interior is beautiful, elegant, and even when crowded, you still feel secluded. The staff is tremendously attentive and friendly. They have a vast wine list for any budget, and several choices for those not on a budget. Overall the experience and environment was beyond those I've had at higher rated restaurants in town. The only negative, was their signature sirloin and dessert. Their steak was good, but not great. Not as flavorable as others I've had. Their dessert selection seemed extensive, but not much for chocolate. And when you have dinner with an 8 month pregnant women, chocolate is important. They came up with a lava cake, that tasted like it was from Domino's."

"The open table process worked fine, we are able to get seated promptly and our order taken in a timely manner. I had a bowl of soup and then we waited and waited and waited for our meals ($100 for a couple 2-3 crab legs, small fillet, a potatoe, 2 miniature lobster tails (one bite each). After waiting over 30 minutes for the meals, I announced to my dinner date , "in another 20 minutes we are walking out". We saw several tables where people got seated and were finished before us - oh ya, we had the single scoop of ice cream with some cherry pie filling and crispy stuff too. Real food value- I would estimate around $20 - with tip I paid $120 - go figure. It's a nice place to visit but . in my mind, small food, small service =low cost"

"I had did dinner there last night and it took 2 hours from when I sat down to getting the check. I expect a 5 course meal to take a while, but we only had salad, entree and coffee. The food was good and would have earned the place 4 out of 5. But waiting that long for what should have taken 1 hr, 90 min tops, couldn't be over looked. They didn't offer a reason or apology. If this is the way they serve people who spend $120+ for dinner, then I won't eat there again."

"service was wonderful. ambiance was stimulating and first class. Food was just average. Ordered surf and turf and "maine" lobster tails were not from Maine - very small and baked - expected much larger and boiled. steak filet was not full of flavor - seemed like steak we have bought at King Soopers on sale - it was though cooked as ordered."

"We were quite pleased with the service, even though all the servers were quite young, they had a professionalism you typically get from more older/ more experienced wait staff. I had the petite filet (cooked perfect at medium-rare) and a salmon dish that my date quite enjoyed.Lobster bisque was very good and side salad fresh and crsip.

As a high end steakhouse, my budget would not allow me to visit often, but we will return to take advantage of pre-theater deals, and after-theater cocktails & desserts. We will also recommend Prime to others."

"I mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary on the Open Table reservation, and nothing was noted by the staff whatsoever. Service was slow, inattentive and my water glass was never refilled. I expected much more from a high dollar place. We were not made to feel welcome, but more of an interruption. That was the third time in a row at that location, so we're out of there!"

"The service, atmosphere, and decor are great! The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive, our waiter was the highlight of the evening.However, the MENU WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. This "steakhouse" only had two cuts of steak on the menu that I could find. I was looking forward to a nice porterhouse, but they didn't have that as an option.The food was first rate though. We had a salad, two sides, and dessert were greatly satisfied by all. The steaks were also enjoyable and on par with other steakhouse chains, such as Morton's or Smith & Wollensky.But the initial bread offering was weak."

"The restaurant is quiet and pleasant at first glance. The bar area overlooks the street for another pleasant environment and good for people watching. The food (the group had a variety of steaks and pork) was all very good in quality and taste. The wine and spirits list was also very extensive and unique quality. The hostess and waiter were very attentive and helpfull but not overly intrusive. Don't let the neon on the outside give the impression this is not a high class establishment."
