"Something of a surprise. For a steakhouse this hit all the right notes - roomy steakhouse ambience, attentive service and good food. My steak (filet mignon) was memorable - one of the best I have had in a while - and the side dishes, appetizers and salad were on the money. The menu is not a complex and its not novelle cusine, but for a good steak dinner I would go here again. Good wine selections as well."

"Prime is definitely an underrated Denver restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic and the food is great. I could not get over how reasonable their prices were for such high quality food! We had the red deer and buffalo and both were cooked to perfection, along with the green chili mac and grilled asparagus, yum! It was very quiet - though we were there on a Thursday - and I was surprised there was not more of a crowd at such an original Denver steakhouse. We will definitely be back next time we are in town to take advantage of this hidden gem!"

"It was my wife's birthday and I wanted to take her somewhere nice. We were not disappointed. Our server Cathleen did a spectacular job in meeting our every request. Our food was prepared perfectly, the wine was superb and the dessert was delicious! We will recommend your establishment to our family, neighbors and friends."

"We were there for happy hour, and the service was questionable if not inattentive. If we had paid full dinner price and received that sort of service, it would be 100% unacceptable. Food quality was good for the price, but again, I'm not sure that I would have enjoyed it for $30-40 per plate. As it was, we got a good-sized and tasty prime rib dinner for $15. The happy hour crowd did NOT dress up at all (jeans & t-shirts for several). My Guinness was warm & flat, which the waitress thankfully took off the bill. I hope the regular dining experience is markedly different, or this steakhouse will not survive."

"This was our second time here and our steaks/food were very good. However, for the price, we felt the service was very lacking for this level of restaurant (didn't check on us very often, asked for some bread and was forgotten, waitign for a long time to get the check and we had a show to catch). Additionally, and this is not the restaurant's "fault", but we were seated near a table of unruly children and it really does ruin a fine dining night out. I don't mean to come across snobbish, but at one point the child was running around the tables. It was like a bad 80's comedy. When you throw down 80+ for a 9 ounce steak, shared sides and an adult beverage, you really want to enjoy it ; )"

"This is our second time at Prime and we were very underwhelmed. We began our evening at the bar before our reservation to have a few drinks. It was 6:30pm on a Saturday night and there were two bartenders who took 17 minutes to even take our drink order (a glass of wine and a beer), and then another 10 minutes to receive the drinks because they were out of glasses. When we asked for another round the bartenders forgot. We then moved to the dining room for our dinner reservations. Unfortunately, unlike many other restaurants the 52.80 was not a deal because they just cut the portion size down. Service was slow at dinner as well, steaks were overcooked, asparagus was not seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were cold. Just a poor night overall"

"What a disappointment! Don't know how they can call themselves a "steak" house! McDonald's has more flavor. Started with the worst TINY wedge salad EVER! The bacon was old and burnt. No taste besides that. Entree was Sirloin and Lobster, not too bad. But the mashed potatoes were totally a box mix. For reals?! It's not hard to make real mashed potatoes! Shockingly awful. Then dessert. Ugh. The most ridiculously small creme brulee ever. Was supposed to be flavored with Captain Morgan's rum. Supposed to be. There was no rum flavor. In fact no flavor at all. Gross and sweet. Even the $60 bottle of wine was utterly flavorless. Summary is I would NEVER EVER come here again and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Sad day."

"When chefs talk about highlighting the ingredients, that's what Prime does. The quality of the steak, lobster, mashed potatoes, asparagus, french onion soup, and flourless chocolate cake all shine through without fussiness. This was all $52.80 for 2 people, the deal runs to 3/31/13."

"We went to dinner for 5280 Week and were quite pleased with the food and the service. We had a wonderful meal of surf and turf with soup, sides and amazing dessert. Our waiter, Tommy, was outstanding! He was very helpful in choosing food and wine, very attentive to the table and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and its offering. Overall, it was a great experience."

"The food was delicious although the portions were small. I understood the steak and lobster portions would be small due to it being Restaurant Week but felt they could have been more generous with the sides. The only other complaint I had was that it was very cold where we were sitting. Our waiter even apologized for it. Still the food was delicious and the service was wonderful."

"I like the coziness of the restaurant with a window view. We were there for 52.80 and the food was good but I would not call it great. We had the surf and turf wherein the lobster was good (small) but the steak (filet) was sort of bland - nothing special being a steakhouse. It was fun for a visit but I am not sure if I would venture back. The services was awesome - the waiter was friendly and helpful with many suggestions, e.g., drink decisions, etc."

"The food portions were very small for the price. I ordered the surf and turf and I asked for my steak to be cooked medium well and it came out medium rare. I was disappointed with my dinner. We sat next a large party of ladies and they were so loud that we couldn't have a conversation with the people we were sitting next to. Overall, it was not a good dinner experience."

"The food was B+ to A... but the service was an F. Our waiter was giving us a nice rundown of the menu at which point my wife asked for the 5280 menu and the tone and tenor changed. I guess he figured he was not going to make any money on us so he was less than attentive. I did not order off the 5280 menu as I wanted a great steak. I ordered the Bone In Prime Rib and it had great flavor. I ordered it blackened to come MidRare.. When I got the steak it was more like pass mid. I should have ordered it rare with the blackened treatment as then it would have been more to my liking. I think that should have been the waiters job to give me a heads up. Two beer orders took 20+ mins to pour bring to the table.. I will stick to Sullivan's"

"The steaks tasted like they had lighter fluid on them which I'm sure was due to the charcoal grill on which they were prepared, but it was very odd. Not a great environment or menu for anyone looking to take kids. Server was slow and inattentive."

"I was very excited when I saw Prime Steakhouse's menu on 5280's website. However, I was nothing but disappointed with our experience. We didn't recieve a drink menu and were celebrating our 2 year anniversary which i noted on our reservation. Our server took 25 minutes to get to our table. Didnt get water for the first 15 minutes. Black flecks floating in my drink, porcelin chips on my lemons from our server cracking my plate. Server didnt introduce himself just said "have you made your selection" no apology for taking so long to get to us. Barely got checked on throughout the meal. server knew nothing about gluten free choices. I have been in the restaurant industry for nearly 10 years and was greatly saddened by the poor service recieved."

"The service started to go down hill once the restaurant got busy. The waiter who served us was very informative of what items were great;such as the deserts and 5280 selections; he even suggested adding the $13.00 entree of extra lobster; which was a big let down for those who ordered it at our table. He did mention that it wasn't an extra lobster, but some ordered it anyway. As additional customers arrived, seemed as if the waiter became over-whelmed and wasn't attentive to our table. We even had to get up one time and get our own water from the beverage section where we were seated. We asked a young lady who was assisting him for lemon and by the time the lemon came for the lobster, it was eaten.Overall, food was good - service, well ??"

"The Restaurant was nice, good atmosphere. However our first impression was based off the hostess who did did not give us a friendly greeting. She said maybe two words to us and did not smile once. She seated us and handed us menus without a word. It was extremely odd.
I would say the food was good but not great. We felt like we were getting a 5280 dining experinece versus what we may have received if we had been regular patrons. Not sure if we will ever go back."

"We went specifically to eat off their 5280 menu - the food was WONDERFUL! Our waitress, Katie, was an absolute sweetheart - very attentive but not overbearing. Our table had a mix of beef and sea food and all were wonderful. We will definitely go back on our own."

"The restaurant did not look like much from the outside, but was really nice on the inside. I liked the different locations of tables you could have (near the window, you're own private area, etc). The food was very good, however, not work the price. We had the 5280 menu (surf and turf - fillet and lobster tail), so it was a great price for the food, however, it's not work the regular price that is for the fillet and lobster tail."

"We went for restaurant week and had a reservation for 4:30, we were running late so I called and they said we were fine. We ended up there at 4:45 and were seated right away. We were sat in the side room by ourselves, the only complaint would be that it was cold in there. We asked for the air to be turned down, but they said they don't control the air. I'm not sure why the air should be on in winter. The food was great and the service was excellent. The flourless chocolate cake was delicious!"

"The food was good, not great. I ordered my steak cooked medium and it came out so rare. It worked out because I gave my husband the pieces that were too rare for me. I would have given a better rating had the service been better. The server checked back one time throughout the meal to see how we were doing. We requested more bread before the salad arrived and didn't get it until after we started the main course. I asked for more water and didn't get it until I was almost finished with dessert. When it was time to pay the bill we were searching for our server to give him the money but he was nowhere to be found."

"We always like to try a new restaurant for 5280 week. I diligently researched menus & restaurant feedback. I had booked @ another prominent restaurant & cancelled for Prime Steakhouse. It was a great decision. The meal was complete & delicious. My husband was hesitant about a steak & 3oz lobster tail. Need I say we wslked away with a smile on our face & very pleased with our experience. Nothing worse than goung out for a special dinner & not being able to hear each other. That was not a problem. I requested a booth upon reservation & were seated in a booth. We will be back!"

"I had read some poor reviews on Prime prior to our reservation so I was a bit sceptical. However, we were extremely pleased. They have a nice wine list with reasonable bottle prices. The food was fantastic!! I had surf and turf that was cooked just right and my husband had the cocoa and coffee salmon. I'm not a salmon fan but I found myself eating several bites. The cheesecake was so creamy and not overly sweet. As for service, I will say that my husband and I found it to be great but I could see how some might find it lacking. We found it to be more European style where the waiter isn't constantly in your face and the food was not rushed out to the table. It was a nice relaxing meal enjoyed with a nice bottle of wine."

"Wonderful birthday dinner during restaurant week. We had the surf and turf, wedge salad, creme brulee, and flourless cake. Our steaks were perfectly cooked to order--one rare, the other medium well. Extraordinary. Our waiter went out of his way when the wine cellar did not have our choice of champagne. He offered us an upgrade brand at the cost of our first selection. Very nice all around experience. We'll be back. Oh, by the way, even though the restaurant was full, it was quiet enough to have a great dinner time conversation. We did not have to raise our voices to be heard."

"Went last night for restaurant week. I had the salmon, my aunt had the crab cake and shrimp. Both were very good. The service was good, too. The place has been around forever, and I can see why.
It's rather pricey, so it's not someplace I'd put on my 'eat out on a whim' list. Also, it could really use a makeover. It's very dark and old fashioned looking. As it has been around forever, it's starting to look a little shabby which is a shame.
But looks won't keep me from going back. I'm going to be saving up so I can go back for my birthday. It's definitely a place worthy of a special occasion."
