"Rocks offers decent American food on the touristy River Street in Savannah. Weather permitting, the wall facing the river and River Street opens its garage-door windows. This is great for people-viewing.
Either Rocks was short-staffed on Mother's Day or its management needs to hire more waitstaff. Our waitress had at least six tables to cover and the service suffered."

"We reserved this place because it looked like a good river-front location in Savannah and advertised having "tapas." Alas, not tapas, just appetizers, which were fine. We arrived a little early and even though the restaurant was not very full we were not given a window view and we were nicely asked/told, "So, your kids are well-behaved?" Our kids are well behaved, but I understand the problem of children behaving poorly in restaurants. But, between them sitting us away from the lovely view and the no-tapas-to-be-found menu, we were a little disappointed. Service was fine and food was decent, but an underwhelming experience."

"Booked for Mother's Day brunch. Poached eggs were well done and when we asked about our appetizer of fried green tomatoes (when our meal was being servered) our waitress told us that another server stole them. She eventually brought them as we were finishing our meal; no apologies were offered."

"A week before our visit, I had requested over the phone that dessert with candles be brought to the table for my wife's birthday. My request was cheerfully accepted. At dinner during our stay, the waitress knew nothing about it. Whoever is responsible dropped the ball. Very disappointing. I mentioned this to the gals at the entry of the restaurant as we were leaving. We got a call later that evening in our hotel room (Bohemian) asking if we would like dessert at that time, which we declined."

"We were celebrating our daughter's sixteenth birthday with a trip to Hilton Head. Rocks on the River was recommended for a place to have a special meal and we are glad we followed up on the advice. We found the atmosphere very relaxing and the staff attentive and friendly. They acknowledged the celebration immediately and took special care to make it a special celebration. The food was excellant, great appetizers and entrees. I would recommend the mussels and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. It was a great experience and I would recommend this restaurant for an outstanding experience."

"Our experience here was excellent. We had a large party of 10 and everyone had a wonderful meal. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived and our server was very attentive the entire night. The chef's specials were outstanding as were items from the main menu. The artwork and ambiance are also what makes this restaurant special. I would definitely eat here again the next time we are in Savannah."

"Overall we like this restaurant. The only complaint I have is that the timing of when the food comes out is always off. My husband and I ordered an appetizer and our entrees at the same time last year and our entrees came out about five minutes after the appetizer was served. This year, we did the same but added a soup and my soup came out at the same time as the appetizer and then our food came out a few minutes later, while we were still eating the appetizer. The timing has got to get better and/or the wait staff needs to hold on putting in entree orders until the appetizer has been served."

"It took along time to get our food and the place was not busy. We ordered Calamari it was not even warm when it finally arrived 40 minutes after being seated. The waitress was never around. We had to ask her to serve us water after wakiting about 15 minutes. It took us another 10 minutes to see her to ask for a straw. I ordered a beer on draft and was not given the correct one. It was a very disappointing experience for us and our out of town visitor."

"The staff here needs serious re-training especially the manager. They brought out our main courses before we had our second bite of salad and appetizers down. Clueless manager didn't seem to care, no apology kept polishing silverware. No linens on tables, which we expected for this caliber of restaurant. I should have paid more attention to the other negative reviews because MANAGEMENT sure isn't. A leftover straw cover paper tucked between salt & pepper shakers = no one cleaned table or moved anything. This is not what we expected from a Kessler Hotel and are very disappointed in the whole experience. The shrimp and grits was soupy and full of bell peppers, the sea bass was mediocre. What a waste of time. Don't go there."

"Our visit on Saturday was extremely enjoyable. It was my daughter's birthday (she is now 33) and we had a great time.
There was one minor thing and that was that the Calamari, when it got to our table, was not hot at all. My husband only ate half of it and he loves Calamari. Other than that, excellent."

"Great location, attentive service, and really wonderful food. But the ambiance was not at all what I was expecting. Just not impressive or "upscale." A modern waterfront setting, but on the ground floor, so more a view of the passing crowd than the river... and just really not impressive at all. For the pricing, I was expecting something more. And it was very noisy with large family groups and children. Perhaps if we had come later at night, it would have felt more sophisticated."

"Restuarant had a few customers with many tables open. A family before us were asked to wait.We had reservations and were seated immediately.However, although we had two teenage boys with us, we were first seated in the bar area.When we requested another location, we were given a table facing a back wall which we refused and were finally given a table to watch into the kitchen.We chose this restaurant because of its location on the river which we could not see from any of the tables offered. The dining room never got close to being full or even a quarter full during our meal but they made a family wait for a table and refused to give us a table that offered the ambiance they promoted.The food was expensive and not very good.Very disappointin"

"On the water front in Savannah allows for convient access while visiting river street. We had reservations and were seated right away, but walkins are welcomed. On a Friday night, the place was crowded and noisy. Service was very good for being packed. The food was good with a nice choice of items allowed for any level of taste and expense. Even though it is in a high end hotel, the restruant is more moderate."

"Great spot! Excellent service! Reasonable prices! DELICIOUS CHEESE FRIES WITH ROASTED GARLIC KETCHUP!!! Beautiful view of the river. It was raining the night we went so we couldn't take full advantage of the warehouse doors being open. Very trendy, but extremely cozy! Perfect for any occasion!"

"If you're going to let me make a reservation then honor it. I realize that Savannah was very busy on that evening but to wait for 30 minutes is pretty bad. We were then told that our drink order would "take a while" because the bartenders were backed up making specialty martinis. This is not the first time this restaurant has been under staffed, not fair to the customers or the employees."

"My wife and I stopped by for brunch as we prepared to leave Savannah. We are Marriott Rewards clients, so we spend a lot of time at Marriott Hotels as we travel. The Marriott Bohemian is situated on the river front and appears spectacular from it's appearance. Our visit to the restaurant was somewhat peppered with anticipation. Unfortunately the food was just fair...not particularly a standout performance. Our waitress was sweet, but there was significant delays between her visits to the table. Upon arrival I suggested that maybe we would stay at the Bohemian on our next visit to Savannah, but at $300+ per night...with a restaurant with just a fair performance, but a hefty price tag...I think maybe not!"

"food was great, definately no complaints there..We all really enjoyed our food, everythign was cooked great and quanity was there. But.. had reservation and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table and then got most likely the worse one in the house (close to door, so every time it opened, we got a cold draft). It was very loud, almost to the point that it was hard to hear across the table. Service was good, until desert. I ordered coffee and was never offered a refill."

"We could not ask for anything better in regards to the food. Wonderful selection and wonderful eats. The service started out exceptional but as soon as our entree was served we never saw a server again. Sat for 30 minutes after our entree was complete with no one checking on drinks, acknowledging us or bring us our desert. We asked the maitre'd for help and she came back said the waitress will be right with us. 10 more minutes passed by before anyone showed up with desert. Very disappointing. But the food and ambiance was so good I would try again holding out hope for a different waitress."
