"The food was delicious as always but the prices have definitely continued to sneak up! We sometimes have a hard time justifying $23 for a bowl of mussels (when you can purchased them at a grocery store for $6/lb) but some of their combinations are so unique and delicious. The Thai mussels and truffle fries never disappoint."

"I have been here a few times and it's always amazing! The Thai mussels are one of my favorites. We also had the Burnt Fingers appetizer which is yummy. The donuts were incredible as always. Will be back for sure!"

"We've tried all 23 mussel dishes and you really can't go wrong with the Parma, Thai, Bisque, or French Onion. Make sure the server tells you the daily special for extra fresh and special variations! Don't forget to save room for their delicious donuts - they melt in your mouth.
For non-mussel lovers, there's good options too. All the salads are super fresh and the lobster roll is one of my favorites in the city (definitely under-rated and off the radar -- it's small for the price, but hey, they all are)."

"The mussels were delicious as usual. I'm working my way through the menu, and this visit didn't disappoint for me; the San Daniele was great. My friend tried the Mediterranean and it was good, but not quite as amazing - salty and bland in comparison. The staff was attentive, overly so when it came to filling water glasses, but at least we didn't have to ask. I will definitely be going back."

"I have eaten at Flex four times in the past five months and have enjoyed every experience, except for last Friday night's. Things were clearly running behind based on the fact that my reservation was sat 25 minutes late. This I can live with, especially since the host apologized with 2 glasses of champagne in his hand (well done). But that is where the exceptional service ended. The restaurant's tension spilled over to my experience via the bartender and waiter. It is Friday night and the restaurant is small. If there is too much frustration with the way things are running, might I suggest working it out in the kitchen before extending a level of discomfort to the patrons who make your restaurant viable?"

"Flex was very good. The restaurant was bigger than I thought it would be, but filled up quickly and I was very glad I made reservations. The feel was perfect for a date night with my girlfriend, low light, candle on table, a bit of music playing. The food was excellent. We had the fried oysters appetizer and it was delicious, worth every dollar. The mussels were so good, best I believe I've ever had and they gave me way more than I thought they would. I was stuffed by the end of the meal. I can't wait to go back."

"staff seems more interested in deceptively hustling the most expensive items on the menu and downplaying extra charges, like street vendors and getting you to spend as much money as possible instead of finding out what you like. atmosphere, like staff, is impersonal and not as attractively trendy as their attitudes or as they'd like to be. that being said the food was quite good and tasted and looked like the plump PEI mussels that i have had in PEI."

"This was my first time at this resaurant. They did not make me feel like I was wanted there. The food was great but lacked in service. I waited at the bar for 20 minutes before someone said do you wanta drink while you wait? I was seated and passed by 3 times without notice. Waiter though I was waitung for someone. Terrible. "We went for a late week-night supper and had a truly fabulous meal. To start, we shared a dozen sweet and briny oysters, as well as an unusual ceviche-style preparation of littleneck clams. Then came a lobster roll, an order of classic mussels (white wine, herbs and garlic) and, the evening's fish-of-the-day, braised octopus in a cataplana, with capers and thyme and small cubes of potatoes. I've never eaten a better octopus dish - tasty, tender enough to cut with a fork, and perfectly seasoned. We had a few salted caramel donuts for dessert - wonderful, with a vanilla cream dipping sauce. All accompanied by a lovely Sancerre (or two). Service was friendly and totally efficient. Already, we can't wait to go back!"

"A very nice menu featuring PEI mussels in all sorts of simple and complex preparations and a nice range of fish and non-fish dishes. The decor of the rather compact dining room is striking with a large photo mural of PEI. Service prompt, polite and attentive. "What a fabulous experience. Oysters were fresh, mussels were divine. I had the Thai, my husband had the Parma. Both were outstanding. "The atmosphere is a great warm up to a bigger party later on in the night. They have a great selection on wines, beers, and cocktails. Of course, the main event - the mussels, live up to past raving reviews. There are diverse and many delicious ways of accenting the freshest and best mussels. You should know that the 13th street location is a quaint space with a modern interior. Make a reservation because it will inevitably be packed. Also, note that the while the wait staff is friendly and eager to serve, they are as eager for you to exit."

"We did not have mussels but the salmon and chicken was great. We had the crab cake appetizers and although, having lived in MD, I know its not MD lump crab cake, it tasted very good.
The doughnuts were delightful and we tried several different kinds.

"So, if I'm honest, I was mildly surprised at the prices, though perhaps I have a different interpretation of $$ than some, but they weren't outrageous compared to other places. I had a Boston Roll (normally $26) and upgraded the side of fries to truffle fries (this brought the entree to $31). The portions aren't huge - in fact, I was almost able to finish mine (to put it in context, I weigh about 100 lbs and there is almost always food left on my plate when I go out). That being said, I felt it was worth the price - the food was amazing! The service was very good too. The restaurant was a little darker than I would have liked, but at least I could still see my food and my friend, and that was enough!"

"Anything that puts lobster, cream and mussels in a pot was pretty much always going to be my very favorite thing ever. Dip the truffle fries in the broth until they take it away from you. Definitely have all the donuts for dessert. God, those donuts."

"Great restaurant if you're looking for a mellow restaurant with a good atmosphere (whether a date or with friends/family) and great seafood - particularly mussels as the name would suggest. I recommend the Spicy Greens app, Parma mussels and the donuts for dessert."

"Please let your diners know that there is a 2 hr minimum at each table even after they have order 2 bottles of wine, 2 starters, 2 entree's and a side. We were told we had to move into the bar because they needed to seat other customers. I still had a full glass of wine in my glass. The table next to us were shocked that they asked us to move. They began to rethink their second bottle of wine.

"The food is exceptional. You cannot go wrong with any menu item. Our server, while good, was a bit pushy to get us to order, eat, leave. My guest and I wanted to dine- something we can so rarely do in this fast paced city. We wished have a cocktail before ordering any food and in the time we were having the cocktail, our waiter asked us three times if we were ready to order. Once we did order our appetizer, he appeared a bit tiffed that we did not order our main course with it. I can completely understand wanting to seat as many parties as possible to maximize the amount of money to be made, but there is a fine line between being an attentive server and an obnoxious server."

"a consistent performer with very good food, service, and little attitude; a combination not always easy to find. It is also very moderately priced. We'll be back!
The only thing I do not like is that if you make a reservation you must call the restaurant on the day of the reservation and confirm. If you do not, they indicate they will move you to the waitlist. What I don't like is that when you call to confirm you do not get a live person but a machine so you do not really know if they got the message until you show up. I had no problem with my reservation but would prefer that instead of the confirming phone call that if you are not there at the appointed time or thereabouts, just give the table to someone on the waiting list."
