"This was one of the best meals we have ever had. Visiting from Boston, we had read great reviews of Uchi and made reservations ahead of time to ensure we would be able to try this restaurant out...thank goodness we did! The service was excellent and our server suggested great wine to pair with our vegetarian chefs tasting menu. A fantastic variety of courses were presented that was the best, most unique, diverse and beautiful presentations of vegetarian fare we have ever had. Each couse was described by our server who was attentive, helpful and very excited about the food as well. This was sooo good, that afterward we sat in the car and noted all the courses so we could describe the food in detail to friends! YOU WANT TO GO TO HERE!!"

"Excellent. I wanted to take my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day, but they were booked. I ended up taking her to another restaurant for VD, and we went to Uchi the day after. We had a great time. The food was awesome, the location was nice, and the service was top notch. This is not a cheap sushi bar by any means, but the food isn't just standard cheap sushi bar food either. The taste combinations are very clever and well thought out, and you will not be dissappointed when you leave if you are looking for a step up in the service and food quality."

"This was my first time at Uchi, and I loved it! Our server was very informative and knew the menu very well. All staff was very tentative to anyone that needed anything. The atmosphere was soothing, and romantic. I really didn't care about sushi or any kind of raw fish before I came here, and I have recommended Uchi to numerous others that are that way. Uchi changed my perspective on was fish. The menu has many different items to chose from which I found very great. I have to give my overall score 5 out of 5!!!"

"Uchi is an awesome experience, and my only caveat with Groups is it'll be a pricey bill, at least $100 per. But the cuisine is truly unique and delicious. There's no question you select a tasting tray, either the $90 or the $200 version, and you just eat whatever marvelous dish they put in front of you and you enjoy the waiters who present it so well and keep the wine flowing, Super-Dry or sake bamboo shoot. My wife's 40th birthday was fantastic and well worth it. Btw, open table worked well as I noted that it was her 40th and they threw in an extra dessert, a flourless chocolate cake with some pudding that was actually the only dish I didn't absolutely love, out of literally 13 dishes. But the other two desserts were spectacular."

"The sushi and sashimi are some of if not the best in Austin; however, it is very hard to get into Uchi without a reservation, and due to not taking reservations on the weekends it would be hard to take a large group here except during weekdays, and even then, the very small size would make a large group uncomfortable, thus, not making it a place I would take a group. It seems to be a place to be seen and/or take a date. The atmosphere is very loud, at times hard to hear your company, making it a bad place for a first date, that is if you are looking for a romantic setting; if, however, you are looking for high quality sushi in a very lively and cramped setting, then check Uchi out."

"When we planned our trip to Austin, Texas, the last place we expected to end up is a Japanese restaurant; we figured nothing but Mexican and BBQ were in our future. But all online roads lead to Uchi, and boy are we glad they did. A beautiful room, with excellent food and service, all combine for a fabulous dining experience. Sure, there's a bit of a scene, and the noise level is high, but the kitchen takes no shortcuts and we have nothing but good things to say. We liked everything we ordered; be adventurous. We brought our 2 month old daughter, and the folks at Uchi were very accommodating, which is rare for a hot spot in our experience. Go!"

"Uchi always wows me and my recent dinner was no exception. We started with their unique seaweed salad [sunomono] then moved on to live scallops [hotate] shelled and sliced to order, Norwegian mackerel [saba] sashimi (which I only like when super fresh), a few pieces of akami tuna and sea eel [anago], lobster [omaru ebi] fried karage-style with ras al hannout, moullard duck breast (seared rare) with basil seed, orange, and coconut cheese(!), and finished it off with a crazy pine needle sorbet/ orange mousse dessert that blew me away. The service was great, their attention to detail was superb and the whole experience made me feel like a rock star."
