"After a delayed flight (3 hours) with an interview first thing the next day, all I wanted was a yummy meal, glass of wine, good service, and a moment to breathe. Willow provided just that. The other guests were very animated but entertaining. My service was lovely (thank you Russel). I had good wine (yummy CA wine that I actually buy at home in CA) and a killer dessert. All my needs were met."

"We've been periodically visiting Willows ever since it opened but the last visit has demonstrated a wonderful evolution. The menu now hosts many entrees that are glutton free without any sacrifice of flavor or texture. Check out the "Wheatless at Willows" menu. The flatbreads for which Willows is widely noted still occupy page one of the menu with a wonderful mixing of ingredients that keeps the options fresh. The yellowfin tuna wrapped in prosciutto and grilled with a bed of cauliflower was so good. Server was attentive but not overbearing."

"The food never disappoints and the service was excellent as always. As one of the few places that does an excellent job catering to those of us required to follow a gluten free diet, I appreciate the small touches: gluten free bread, menu items clearly marked etc. The waitstaff is always caring and knowledgeable and is a major reason why willow is one of our favorite restaurants."

"I work nearby so lunch or dinner at Willow was a wonderful discovery. However, the quality and creativity of the food and the beautiful décor has also put it on top of my recommend list. Worth a drive if you aren't near by. I don't know of any better place for a special occasion or romantic evening. Every time I have visited, the food and service have been exemplary."

"I have been a restaurant goer in the DC area for almost 20 years and have never found a better place to dine. The courteous and refined staff, the owner's cordiality, the kitchen's superb preperation, the outstanding wine list and the staff's knowledge of the wines, etc. all make me keep coming back.

"Brought an out of town guest to a late lunch on Mothers Day. Food and service were outstanding as was the staff. Asparagus bisque and gazpacho were the best soups I ever tasted. Salads had flavors that were deliciously different and wonderful. This is definitely a place for foodies to enjoy."

"3rd time to Willow. We enjoy the atmosphere there. The 3 of us ordered salmon, lamb, & top sirloin. The lamb was the best; the waiter told us that it recently earned an award ---deservedly so. The salmon & sirloin were good, nice presentation & vegetables, but were less flavoriable than the fall-off-the-bone lamb. We ashared the calamari appetizer -- very tasty. The batter was crispy & light like tempura. The fennel & basil in the calamari added nice favors. The Moscow Mule drink was really good, I enjoyed the ginger in it, but the strawberry drink was so-so. The Bourbon Chocolate Pudding cake was a great choice. Our waiter was excellent, anticipating our needs, not intrusive, and very polite. We'll continue to patron's Willow."

"This was our third visit in a year to Willow. The service was very good and Dante was very patient with our group as we changed our selections a few times. The flatbread is our favorite as either an appetizer or as a main course. The beet salad was delicious and the chef accommodated by preference for feta vice goat cheese. The tuna was exceptional and my ravioli was cooked to perfection."

"While the food at Willow was good, I was disappointed in the service. It began as attentive, but then went downhill. When I asked how the gazpacho was, the waiter said "there were Latinos (!!!) cooking it up in the kitchen right then!" I was so shocked! I said it was from Spain--he said that "they're not from Spain!" meaning the "Latinos"...I said that gazpacho was. Said he knew that and that tapas were too! I speak Spanish and wanted to ask the "Latino" servers how he treated them. In addition, our bottle of white wine was left on the table, not on ice. We had to ask for water refills, to order dessert, and to get the bill."

"i dine at the willow frequently, often for lunch and dinner, especially when we have corporate guests in town. The food is excellent. Unforunately, the last few times the service has been extremely slow. not measured service to enjoy the dining, but slow service based on a lack of staff or lack of managing the staff. this last visit, a simple desert order (already prepared desserts) took 30 min. In that 30 min the server did not check with us, give us an update, refill our coffee. When we asked about dessert, he said i can't do anything about it, and the dessert 'chef' had just returned from the farmer's market (at 8pm).
unfortunately given the multiple times for slow service the past couple of months, i'm not sure when i'll return."

"My fifth dining experience at Willow is as wonderful as my first. The salmon appetizer was a lovely presentation with savory herbs atop smoked salmon. The entre'e: lobster tail with lobster ravioli and asparagus was a simple delight to the senses; a marriage of delicate flavors and textures for the eyes, palate and nose. While the dining area is busy, it is not too loud to have a conversation in normal speaking voices and there are few distractions to cause interruption. The professional wait staff makes the experience even more memorable."

"We regularly come to Willow when we are in Arlington. The restaurant is slightly formal without being stuffy. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable without being overbearing. We began with a flatbread (like pizza, only better) which we all shared. All of the entrees were perfectly cooked and delicious. Be sure to leave room for dessert - the pastry chef is first-rate."

"We have been to this restaurant many times and was abit underwhlemed by it. The entree was very good and the portion could have been an entree for my wife. Otherwise, the food was good,not great. I felt that it was overpriced. In the end, we probably spent about 15% than we should have given the quality. I doubt that we will be back in the near future."

"The food was very good, but it took a long time for it to come from the kitchen. Our waiter was very apologetic and offered us free dessert because of the long wait. Besides the food being delicious with inventive combinations, the presentation was very well done. Willow has become one of my favorite restaurants. Also, the desserts were creative and delicious, unlike many restaurants who serve the same desserts time and time again. I would definitely recommend Willow for a delightful meal."

"The food and service are both good, but I also found both to be stuffy. In our mid-40s it felt like we were the youngest there on a Friday night. I didn't dig the heavily dressed caesar salad with an abundance of grated smoked gouda. The bar looked more fun and next time I'll probably just sit there. It's a nice place for a special occasion."

"Was on a special date to Willow, always a great, eclectic and original option.....it's usually a gem. On this night, however, service was beyond terrible and it really ruined the night. Wait time between dishes was an eternity and we were seated for over ten minutes before the waiter decided to stop by. Finished dishes and glasses stayed on the table and the waiter mixed up our cocktails. Not sure if I'll go back, quite frankly, as there are too many other, reliable restaurants. Notice I haven't commented on the food? It was great, as usual but the poor service sadly overshadowed what would otherwise have been a great meal."

"We celebrated my wife's birthday at Willow. We received a special table for two and a special "Happy Birthday" menu. The wait staff was very attentive and provided excellent recommendations on food and wine. The food was superb! I highly recommend the mussels. The filet medallions were outstanding. For dessert, we split the chocolate mousse cake, which was really good. Willow went out of their way to make it a special evening for my wife's brithday, and they succeeded. We will definitely eat there again. I highly recommend it."

"Casually elegant; friendly ambience; good food. The ragout of lamb, duck duo and roasted salmon were excellent, except for one small piece of lamb that was undercooked and one piece of the duck that was over-salted. Prices for wine by the glass were very reasonable and the wines themselves very good compared to those in some other restaurants. Not very noisy, even when the restaurant filled up. Now, if the Willow were on the top floor with a view, it would be perfect!"

"A spotty dining experience framed by generally good food & so-so service. We asked to share a few appetizers and were surprised when they all arrived at once,crowding the table & forcing us to dine on the hottest first. Two were spectacular: the large-cut pepperoni flatbread & the braised lamb shank/sausage were delightful. The caesar salad was cold, as if pulled from the fridge; worse, dressing was heavily glopped on the bottom side of the lower layers of romaine. Our entree, the seared scallops, were perfectly cooked and textured, an absolute delight. We skipped desert as we were just so full. Service was the one key that would have made the meal so much better & the prep inconsistency of the salad detracted from making it great."

"Normally our service is much better, but our easter visit was quite different. The servers were friendly enough, but the time between courses and between checking on us was way too long. I think they might have been understaffed for such a busy holiday brunch."

"Although my wife's meal was good, mine was not. Starting with the Caesar salad, it was served ice cold...the mixture of green and purple lettuce was not tasty. The Duck dish was unique at best. The breast of duck was fine, though the orange and nut "mush" it was served on was unappealing! The meat on the duck leg was dark and bland. The accompanying orange looking squash was unappealing too. Even the desert, ice cream sherbet was unappealing. For the price, the meal was a disappointment!"

"restaurant menu offers a lot of variety with many different vegetables mentioned in entree descriptions. but when your entree arrives maybe there is just a slice or two of that vegetable, more of a garnish. i suppose it depends on your entree but that was true with the salmon kabob. the food was good but some appetizers/entrees have too many flavors/spices/sauces going on -- just too 'busy'."

"I am afraid that we have taken Willow off our list of favorite Arlington restaurants, primarily because of the quality of the meat they serve. This time my wife ordered petite tenderloins, one of which she gave me, and I was unable to cut it with my regular knife. The piece was basically inedible. This was the second time we have had difficulty with the meat at Willow. The service was indifferent, although the waiter did arrange for the tenderloin item to be taken off the bill. We had to wait a long time and ask twice for bread and butter to be provided. Willow puts a lot of effort into how its meals look, but they need to match this with equal attention to what they actually serve."

"My 3 friends & I had Easter Brunch here today, and our biggest problem was deciding what to eat!!! There were so many yummy choices, but we all decided to order something different so we could share. We started with mimosas, then a bottle of Bookwalter Notebook wine, which was fabulous. We had the salmon starter, followed by "Haystack" onions, both of which were unique in their own way. For entrees, we had the cod with mushroom ravioli (we all agreed that was the best of the 4, esp b/c it was the biggest piece of fish we'd ever seen in a restaurant!), yellowfin tuna nicoise salad, poached lobster with lobster ravioli, and grilled shrimp with crunch quinoa & goat cheese cakes. I've always loved Willow, and now my friends do, too!"

"We were treating 2 friends to dinner and selected Willow for its good food and pleasant surroundings. But the food on this visit was somewhat disappointing, the scallops were overcooked and the portions too large. Two of us ordered the Lent seafood dinner, and the side dish choices were ridiculous. For example, two potato dish choices when potato salad accompanied the fish, and Mac and cheese, creamed corn... The meal was served on a platter with the sides in small dishes on the platter. A very good Irish soda bread was included on the platter. That was more food than either of us could eat. Service was passable. The first wine ordered was unavailable, as was a second choice, but the wine steward sent a nice substitute."

"After starting at the bar with a class of wine, we moved to our table. We wanted some apps that we saw on the menu at the bar but wouldn't let us have them. We almost wanted to move or leave then. Had the lamb which the waiter said was their #1 dish and it was supposed to be the best in DC. It was ok, nothing super special about it other than being unique."

"Delicious innovative food. Lovely atmosphere. I was recently diagnosed as having celiac disease and I thought my dining out days were over. I found out that Willow -- which has been one of my fav restaurants for years -- offers many scrumptuous gluten-free appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Our excellent server Heather even provided me a special basket of wonderful gluten-free bread!! What a delight!"

"I enjoyed the food tremendously. They used some unique ingrediants and the presentation was excellent. My only critique was on the ambiance because it was drafty and the noise from a large group in the adjacent dining area was a little distracting. Otherwise, this was a truly enjoyable dining experience."

"Dinner started off with a tiny glitch in the service which was immediately corrected. Service after that was impeccable. The food was excellent Nd the bread pudding dessert was the best we have had. We love coming to Willow and recommend it to all our friends."

"The food at Williw was very good and was the highlight of our visit. However, our waiter was not great and took at least 20 minutes after we received our food to check in. We really wanted to order a second round of drinks with our dinner, but we basically had to stop eating so that we would not finish before the waiter got back and we could order out drinks. To his credit, the waiter realized that he had left us waiting too long and gave us a free glass of wine to compensate for this."
