"On this very special occasion, i celebrated a birthday dinner with my significant other and teenage son. We started the dinner w/ champagne, followed by an order of the mussels (yum). For dinner we had: French onion soup (delish) for the men and escargot for me. for entrees, I selected the coq au vin( cooked to perfection) and the men had skirt steak w/ pomme Frits. We shared the profiteroles, floating island, and the apple tart . We enjoyed our fabulous meal accompanied by a string quartet...they played so Beautifully, if i closed my eyes, I felt like I was transported to France. To top it off, they played the happy birthday song to me as my dessert came out. W-o-w, best birthday dinner ever! Thank you.

"A great place to come for a "French experience". The service was very attentive and the food was excellent. The salmon was tasty and the profitaroles for dessert were to die for! LOL The row of side tables are way too close together to make for private dining. I really appreciated being allowed to switch to a corner table both for privacy and because it facilitated my limited hearing.
Parking was easy on 5th street which is always a consideration, and only a 3 block walk away from Yerba Buena Gardens and the theater there, the Metreon, and the Moscone Center.
I would definitely recommend Le Charm for any occasion to enjoy good food and the best of service."

"We always enjoy dining here, the whole experience is always top notch from the wonderful owner to the service and the food. The atmosphere is casual, sophisticated and not rushed. There is an amazing balance between French and American service styles. Never rushed, servers are attentive but not hovering, food is perfectly timed. The Prix Fixe menu is well balanced with very nice options for each course and nicely priced. This time we started with the escargot and warm goat cheese with brussels sprouts - both were awesome. For the main course we had the Coq au Vin and the Steak Frites, both nicely done. Chocolate cake and Tarte Tatin finished us up. They have a very nice wine list which always helps, we chose the Gigondas - perfect!"

"I have always had a pleasant dining experience at Le Charm. It is an unpretentious establishment serving typical French Bistro style plates and very reasonably priced. The quality has been consistently good and they make the best Ile Flotant in the Bay Area! "We had guests in from SoCal & wanted to show them some of San Francisco's fine dining. Two of our party of four had the prix fixe & were very happy with all their selections. One guest had rack of lamb & was also very happy. I had the special, bouillabaisse, which was a disappointment. The broth was rich & delicious, but the fish was black cod, which was oily & tasted strong. The shellfish, mussels, clams & shrimp, were small & few. The toasts & aioli were sparse, though flavorful. At $25.00 cost, the dish should have been listed as an appetizer, in my opinion. The wine list was adequate though pricy. The server was professional & attentive. The busboy was very much on his game, courteous & helpful. The owner/maître d' was lovely."

"I've been going to le charm for more that 5 years, usually 2-3 times a year. This time the service was really subpar, and we were given a really poor table despite being the only diners in the place (we tend to eat early).
The food was as good as usual, but the service was so bad that I'm taking it off my list of recommendations. I probably won't be back again."

"We always enjoy dining at Le Charm. Thursdays are always nice because they have live music and it is not crazy busy. The Prix Fixe menu is a great deal and has a nice selection for each course. Two of us ordered off the Prix Fixe menu and one of us ordered off the ala carte menu and everyone was very pleased with their selections. The service is always excellent, prompt but not intrusive, and very cordial. We love this place and hope you will try it if you have not done so. They have a very nice wine list with most wines being very affordable."

"Great ambiance in an authentic Parisian bistro setting w/ lovely decor and wonderful, live music. The onion soup was a dream come true as were the coq au vin, tarte tatin and creme brûlée. The owner couldn't have been nicer and surprised my partner with a candle on his dessert to help celebrate his birthday. To cap off the evening she also brought us each a complimentary glass of dessert wine. I'm seriously considering having my 60th birthday celebration in the back garden. Even if I don't we look forward to returning there to dine in the future."

"It was our anniversary, our first time at Le Charm, and it was definitely special! The waiter was attentive and helpful (there was plenty of staff). The food was French, very fresh, prepared with care, and with a few original touches. The chicken livers over salad greens were sautéed in a deep sauce. The endive and roquefort salad, a standard, added radiccio and walnuts in the center. I had a falling-apart and luscious osso bucco, and my husband had the cassoulet (which could easily be shared by two), and it was filled with lovely pork, duck, (English?) bacon, and sausage. We shared a tarte tatin, which was covered in a tasty syrup. There was a wedding party,& several romantic couples, and groups of happy friends that night. Great!"

"Fine as always, this Gallic gem fits its name well. Small menu the only limiting factor, but they altered the menu several times for us to make dishes we prefer. The seared scallops are a special draw, as are the seafood in puff pastry and the mussels. Do not miss the excellent creme brulee!"

"THIS IS MY 3RD TIME AT LE CHARM. IT IS ALWAYS DELIGHTFUL. LINA YEW, THE CHEF AND OWNER IS TALENTED AND WAS WELCOMING TO ALL OF US. WE HOSTED OUR SON'S REHEARSAL DINNER FOR A GROUP OF 52 LAST DECEMBER. IT WAS EFFORTLESS TO PLAN THIS VERY IMPORTANT EVENT AND IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR ALL. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE HOSTING AN IMPORTANT EVENING OR JUST HAVING DINNER. I ALREADY HAVE A RESERVATION FOR OUT-OF-TOWN COLLEAGUES NEXT WEEK. PJ HANDELAND"

"It seems that the restaurant wasn't fully prepared for the Valentine's rush, as the service was slow at start, and they ran out of popular courses fairly early in the evening.
However, the food was excellent and the waiters were very courteous. It was a fun and romantic dinner for me and my wife, and we most likely try this restaurant again for another romantic dinner in the future."

"DELICIOUS! The prix fixe menu is a wonderful option and at a great price point too! The tarte Tatin dessert (apple tart) is the BEST I've ever tasted and I order it at every visit. Each time we visit San Francisco from Los Angeles we make a reservation at Le Charm. It's our favorite place."

"I really felt like on Valentine's Day the regular Menu would have been readily available. It seemed like we had to order the options on the Valentine's Menu when we didn't want to. We did our research on the restaurant beforehand and we really wanted dishes on the main menu but were not able to get them. I also feel like this restaurant could use a stronger beer menu. I mean they only had three beers: Sierra Nevada, Heineken, and (I can't recall the third maybe Great White). I mean I don't think it is very hard to mix in Blue Moon."

"Though its location, at 5th and Folsom, seems poor, it is actually a short walk (4 blocks or so) from the Moscone Center. Classic Bistro food and as a Prix Fixe menu, very good value. Nicely and professionally served, though we had the bad luck of arriving coincidentally with a party of 16 at one large table, making our service too slow to have desert and make it to an 8PM show at the Theater for Performing Arts in Yerba Buena center. So we skipped desert, but otherwise enjoyed the ambience, quality of food and service, and the value. Will return, but will budget more time if we plan theater afterwards."

"Thoroughly enjoyed our Prix Fixe dinner for $35. Delicious endive & radichio salad, excellently cooked salmon, with sauteed spinach and pommes dauphines -- so very, very good. Dessert was Creme Burlee (the best I ever had) and profiteroles -- wonderful to share both. The only criticism I have is that we would have like to sit in their garden area but it was extremely hot from the overhead heaters. We were told that they could not be lowered and that they were either on or off. Unfortunate, because it is lovely outside, but very uncomfortably hot."

"Un mot - MAGNIFIQUE!! What a great place this is! From our first impression, as we saw the twinkling lights outside, to the beautiful warm and cosy decor inside, we knew that we were about to experience something special. And we were right! This was our first time and we will definitely be back to celebrate future special occasions. The food was super-delicious. Both my husband and I had the prix fixe and we both chose the onion soup and the coq au vin. The soup was piping hot, as soup should be, and the chicken the best we'd ever tasted. The tarte tatin is a must for dessert, as is the creme brulee. Do go there. You'll not be disappointed."
