"We arrived for a late, romantic lunch on a rainy afternoon. We had almost the whole restaurant to ourselves, and the experience was wonderful.

We each had two courses, and we shared a dessert. They were all exquisite -- it's rare that every course at a restaurant is outstanding, but they were this time"

"Service was excellent. Ambience was romantic; great for a date. The food was good, but not amazing. We had a prix fix Valentine's dinner, so the menu and perhaps the food was perhaps simplified. I've eaten here before and the food was great. Would I still eat here again? For special occasions, yes."

"Met a friend for lunch near the office. It was quiet when we first arrived, but picked up as we were there. The servers were very nice and attentive. I had the salmon with potatoes and spinach, and my friend had the lamb special of the day. Both were hot when served up and delicious. My friend had a glass of wine and I would have loved one but not mid-day.

This is a great spot for a nice lunch. Even though it's a nice place and you might want to take a longer lunch, it's great even if you don't have a lot of time because they are very responsive and quick and seem to understand not everyone can take a 2 hour lunch."

"Went there with a group of 8 for an office celebration. Street parking was not difficult to find. The ambiance is very nice. We were seated in the covered, protected, heated outdoor patio which was nicely lit with the addition of little white christmas style lights. They have a very reasonable (for what it is, actually quite inexpensive) prix fixe meal with very nice selection to choose from. Tried the french onion soup, seared salmon, and protiferoles which were all excellent - beautifully presented and very tasty. For the entree others had the coq au vin and the hanger steak which they enjoyed very much."

"One thing I like about Le Charm (in addition to the great food and perfect atmosphere) is the reasonbly priced wine. Around the corner (on Folsom) is another (provincal) French restaraunt, with a huge wine list, but their wines seem to start around $60 (and only a few in that range), and going up in $$ fast. At Le Charm, many tasty wines in the $30+ range, as it should be! Thanks for offering fine dinners and wine at excellent value."

"Our dinner at Le Charm was wonderful. We ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. I had the salmon and my husband had the hangar steak. I was also happy with my dessert - creme brulee. It was a great value, but most importantly, the food was delicious. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Basically, we really enjoyed dining at Le Charm and will be back again to try other dishes on their menu. I highly recommend Le Charm."

"We arrived earlier then our reservation time by 15 minutes. We had to wait 20 minutes after our reservation time. It was Saturday night but no attempt was made to offer a glass of wine or even a place to sit while we waited. When they take care of these little things it will be a very good place."

"Five of us enjoyed a nice dinner in a nice setting for a reasonable price. Waitstaff was friendly but service was a bit spotty in terms of timing. Restaurant was packed with at least 2 parties of 10+. Ordered off the prix fixe menu which had a good selection of appetizers, entrees, desserts. Best dish was blue cheese souffle, ordered off regular menu. Hangar steaks arrived perfectly cooked but a bit cool. Brandade, Lasagna, and French Onion Soup were delicious. Overall it was good and would be willing to try again."

"This was my birthday dinner with my mother, who has Alzheimer's, and is also somewhat hard of hearing. Le Charm was the perfect choice for our meal. I had asked for a quiet table, and was put in the corner where it was most quiet.
The food was great. I live in France part time, and many of my favorite dishes were available and excellent. The wine list was very good, and I was impressed that the prices were not ridiculously inflated like in most restaurants. The choices were wonderful, and my mother and
I were able to talk easily. We took a long time, since it was a special event, and no one pushed us or made us feel we needed to hurry. Finally, my ile flotante was fantastic!!"

"A visit to Le Charm has been a tradition for us for more years than I can remember. Except for the improved decor, little has changed,-- especially the food. The restaurant has always served delicious, traditional French brasserie cuisine. The restaurant continues its tradition but we noticed, on this visit, that the prices were higher. The restaurant was no longer the great value that it had been in the past. A few days later, I dined at Le P'tit Laurent, which is very similar to Le Charm, but maintains its reasonable prices. I thought it was a better choice."

"Generous pours on wine by the glass; still some of the best onion soup in the Bay Area (not salty, & loaded w/gruyere). Profiteroles are to die for; my companions liked their desserts as well. Still an excellent value for the money! $30 price-fixe gets you some of the best food for the money in SF. They pace the food according to your eating pace, so you're not going to feel rushed, & clear dishes only when you're finished.

One minor beef: the bavette steak was tender, but the meat/truffle sauce was slightly oversalted for my taste."

"Love the ambiance and good food at LeCharm. I feel like I'm in Paris. I've had the Croque Monseure (sp?) which is the BEST I've ever had, the smoked fish dish (excellent). My guests had the hanger steak with salad and fries (excellent). The owner is gracious and welcoming and the wait staff are always friendly and attentive. This restaurant is a find in a surprising location at 5th and Folsum, 2 blocks from the Mission St garage and the downtown shopping. Good value."

"Le Charm is a bit of Paris in San Francisco! The food is always superb, the ambiance "tres gentile", and the prices reasonable. What is most impressive to us is that New Year's Eve dinner was no different from any other meal; in other words, they did not charge exorbitant prices as other restaurants did. "This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is exquisite. The service is great. The menu changes monthly and each time I find something I really love. My last meal was buttler lettuce salad - simply prepared but bursting with flavor in every bite, scallops, which melted in your mouth with a wonderful sauce that was so delicious, and yellow beans, which as a rule I don't even care for, but which were cooked to perfection and covered with sun dried tomatoes and were scrumptious! Their apple tart is unlike anything I've ever had before. It really is a wonderful place. And the ambiance is quite sweet. The noise level does get up there, but you can still carry on a conversation without having to yell. Try it, you'll like it!"

"The first time I went to Le Charm was about a two years ago. It was so delightful that I was anxious to go back. I had that opportunity recently when busines took me to the city.. Once again I had the fixed price menu. The appetizer was a duck patte. The main course was was salmon with a white sauce, and two vegetables.
I love patte, but I didnt like this version. Just my personal preferece I guess, this was more like a meat loaf rather than the patte I am accustomed to. My Main was good, but I guess it just wasn't my day for hunger. The desert was an apple tart, Wow that was terrific.

Overall, I would go back, but I think my first impression was very strong to do so, but this time,, well,, not so sure."

"Good option in a neighborhood without many choices that fall in between the very expensive and the tacky. Le Charme is a solid, good value, mid-price restaurant. Food was good, service was better. We found it rather cramped and noisy."

"We had our year end luncheon at Le Charm and it was excellent. The table was set for us when we arrived and we were seated right away. The staff was so friendly and warm and made us feel right at home. The menu selection was excellent as was the food."

"The owner and the wait staff went out of their way for us. When the owner was unable to complete a phone call for a taxi (we later found out that the Taxi computers were temporarily down) she sent a busboy out with us and he hailed a cab for us! Everything about our dining experience was wonderful. We will definitely plan to go back to this charming restaurant."

"Le Charm is simply a gem of a restaurant, and I'm surprised I can get a reservation as easily as I did (a few day's before hand). The food is superb, the wait staff friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is perfect for dining, and the price cannot be beat anywhere for this quality of food. I mean, $30 for a 3-course meal is unheard of for this quality unless you dial back the clock 10 years and dine at a bistro in Paris. I highly recommend this small, lovely little restaurant to anyone looking for really good food south of Market."

"I have dined here several times and the restaurant never fails to impress me. The prix fixe dinner is a steal for this city. We brought a colleague from London here and he enjoyed the dinner immensely also. The only downfall this time, was that we were seated close to the kitchen and the noise level was sometimes too high for easy conversation. The service here is impeccable. I feel welcomed as if I am a regular (which I am not) and my every need attended to flawlessly."
