The third incarnation of Américas, the global culinary experience from famed chef and restaurateur, Michael Cordúa, is now open in the heart of River Oaks. "Had Mother's Day brunch and the food was fantastic! Always liked Americas since they serve food I can't cook at home. Sunday brunch with paella, empanadas, lechon, tenderloin was fantastic. Pasta and crepe station suited my young daughter well too. Thought it was just a bit pricey for $49 - which excludes drinks. Service is really good. Overall a very pleasant experience."

"I found this place through a brunch idea email from Open Table, i went to their website to see what they had on their menu and price and saw the brunch was $35. Its a bit higher than I usually have spent for brunch but I thought what the heck lets try it.
The inside is very unique. The set up of the brunch was very organized. I was shocked when we sat down and the waiter asked if we wanted bottomless mimosas for an additional $12 on top of the $49 for brunch!! $49?!?! I clarified was $49 with the bottomless mimosas and he said no $49 was just for the food. I didnt want to argue because it was Mothers Day and I didnt want my mom to feel uncomfortable. The food was good, but nothing I had was amazing. Definitely not worth $49 per person!!"

"Took my wife for the Mother's Day brunch buffet. It was a phenomenal experience. The staff was unbelievable and really made the meal an experience. At no time was my mimosa glass ever close to empty. Every time it got down to half full, it was refilled. I picked up the bottle of water to refill my water glass and before I could even tilt it, our waiter was there to take the bottle from me and fill my glass up. I wish I could remember the names of the staff that waited on us, because they are the reason that I will return. The food was delicious as well, but the waiters were the stars of the show that day."

"Americas used to feel like a very nice, cutting-edge, remarkably imaginative restaurant with excellent food and decor. Now it feels more like a Disney-fied 'event destination' with excellent food and decor. Even the crowd is chainy, with plenty of idiots in shorts and t-shirts taking flash photos and spoiling what would otherwise be a stunning ambiance. The 'tag team' service, involving 3 servers, was disjointed and bothersome, yet still remarkably ineffectual. We were seated 1/2 an hour after our reservation time. Our food, and the menu in general, remains unparalleled, however. I'll be back, eventually, but it was better when it was merely a really nice restaurant. Americas, sadly, has lost its charm. Pricey, even by upscale standards."

"Food was excellent. Service was slow in part we think because it was Mothers Day and Graduation weekend. However that should not have been a surprise . Ambiance was iffy, a lot of folks in tshirts and shorts which were simply not suitable for fine dining. A suit maybe overkill' but asking men to wear pants to dinner and a oollared shirt seems reasonable, With group tables the noise level got loud. lt felt crowded, with chairs unable to push back without hitting another dIner."

"My friend ordered a glass of champagne and waiter brought her a flat rose . He would not open a fresh bottle of champagne even when we said we would take a proseco . Later the manager apologized . However all in all it was a lovely lunch!"

"Recently I had the pleasure of dining at your establishment for both business and pleasure. Both experiences were fantastic. I found the acoustics great for large business gatherings. I was amazed that you could actually have a normal table conversation without having to yell, like at most restaurants in the area. Your employees were the best. "My husband and I went for a date night and had a very good evening. We had 7:45 reservations but they were not ready to serve us so we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bar tender was very friendly. When we sat down we ordered right away. The meal took a lot time to come out, and we were told by the manager that they had a wedding in their private room that was holding back the kitchen. He brought over a round of drinks on the house and desert. I thought this exemplified how a restaurant should handle a situation like that. We were very pleased with the food and service and will be coming back soon!"

"The whole presentation of the restaurant, from the decor to the waiters, was amazing. The waiters were incredibly knowledgable about the food and the restaurant, explaining everything and letting both us know what was the best on the menu. Their steak is well worth it, the flavor was great. Also, they had some of the best tres leches I've ever had. Highly recommend both to anyone who goes."

"We went here for my best friends bachelorette dinner. The ambiance is great; however, we had a group of 6 and we were sat at a table for about 10 so it felt a little awkward. Also, the service left a lot to be desired. Our wait staff was nowhere to be found half of the time and our wine glasses were often found empty. Our busboy did get a good tip though because he was the best part of the "service" experience. As for the food, it all had great flavor, but the pork relleno and chicken was dry. However, the Churrasco was AMAZING, as was the corn tortilla fettuccini pasta meal that the bride-to-be had. Would I go back? Probably not. There are so many fabulous restaurants in Houston that have great food and service that I'd rather go to."

"The place is conveniently located in the heart of famous River Oak area in Houston and easily accessible. Parking including the garage is plenty. Recpetionist and waiters are well trained and appear to be very professional and courteous. Food wise is of high quality, wine (by glass) and drinks are bit expensive that may prevent customers to order. It will be nice to serve fresh baked bread (butter) if the restaurant can."

"We experienced a horrible service at the bar: getting the attention from the bar man was difficult, service was slow, and we had to complain to get the happy hour special applied to our bill which was initially issued at full price.
The table at the service for dinner was good, but that didn't make up for the taste of food. I lived in Latin America for 20+ years. The paella was not good at all-- in fact, I left half of it. The tres lechea dessert tasted too much like rum, so I could not eat that either. The restaurant has a neat show: the server pours flaming rum on the tres leches and turns the whole piece on fire. Looks good but destroys the taste of the cake.
And the design is a waste of talent from the architect of the Bellagio"

"In a word, disappointed. My mother & I have dined here for lunch many times in the past and always enjoyed it immensely. However, they have changed their menu. The bacon wrapped filet on the lunch special is now a combination of chicken & beef. It used to be all beef. Plus, they used to give you delicious grilled veggies with your lunch, but they have discontinued that.
The waiter hardly spoke 2 words to us. Not very friendly at all."

"All I can say is that it is fabulous! We had Easter brunch and my entire family of 5 loved it!
The variety, quality and quantity of the food was excellent and the wait staff was unparalleled. This restaurant has the best wait staff I have seen in years, extremely attentive and courteous. We never had to ask for anything, from water to clean silverware after we finished a plate and went for more delicious food to the bottomless Mimosa he manage to keep us well attended. The restaurant is well located and it has beautiful interiors with a modern and tropical decor dedicated to a Latin American landscape. Kudos to Cordura Group for a well run and delish restaurant!"

"This is the perfect restaurant to entertain business clients and for a romantic night out. The food is superb. It is not a kid friendly restaurant, so I would get a babysitter for the night and enjoy the evening. Staff is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxing.
