"It was a wonderful dining experience from the service (including the chef/owner welcoming us after we were seated) to the delicious and beautifully-presented dinner. After we ordered, they served a creamy potato leek amuse bouche followed by a small loaf of homemade crusty bread with three butters (olive, chive, & plain sprinkled with coarse sea salt). For appetizers we had a green salad (with cranberries, candied pecans, and blue cheese) and a very tasty ahi carpaccio (with shaved fennel and baby sprouts). For the main course we ordered the bass in a light, brothy tomato sauce, and the evening's special: a lovely, rack of lamb with potato hash and greens. The Richmond is definitely a restaurant we will return to in the future!"

"This is truly a neighborhood "gem", something every food fan dreams about: a local restaurant with excellent food, fair prices, serious service, and an impressive wine list (particularly nice selection of reasonably priced half bottles). Everything we sampled at this restaurant was excellent. There is a nice variety of meats, fish, and vegetarian items. No entree is priced over $20. The starters and desserts were all impressive, and it is quite obvious that the staff is very professional and proud of their restaurant. Highly recommended. There is even a tasting menu, at less than half what the downtown palaces charge. A great find!"

"We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. How they get away with serving food like this at these reasonable prices, I do not know. We both enjoyed the foie gras appetizer, along with the several small items they brought to the table before we ate, including some warm bread with several different flavors of butter, which was delicious. The short ribs and mashed potatoes were delicious, and the chicken and ravioli was wonderful and very rich. We will definitely return, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here."

"The food at The Richmond was sublime. We had the 5 course tasting menu, and each course was paired with wine selected by staff of The Richmond. The food was delicious, and the courses were crafted so that they progressed perfectly. One negative was the Amuse Bouche, a spiced cider with cream (not a part of the 5 courses). It was tasty for sure, but overpowered the wine and food of the first course; it would have been better later in the meal as a mezzo between a fish and beef course perhaps.
The service was also excellent. Our waiter provided timely, helfpul, friendly, efficient, humorous service, but he was not at all intrusive."

"The food here is solid, though some might find the menu unremarkable. A few things, such as the chicken ravioli, are not as good as they should be and tend to make some people come away with a bad impression, but the appetizers are stellar, and the staple entrees like short ribs are perfectly executed. Add an extra point for impeccable presentation of the food, and a really nice cozy atmosphere where you can actually carry on a conversation and be heard. The best kept secret in the Inner Richmond."
