Stroll along 17th street, between Lighthouse and Laurel and you will find one of the Peninsula’s hottest restaurants, Joe Rombi’s La Mia Cucina. This little jewel, with its fresh ambiance and tantalizing menu, is popular with everyone. When you ask about the colorful European advertising posters that enliven the walls, you’re told that they are “originals, not reproductions.” That phrase is accurate in describing Joe Rombi’s itself. From the lean, comfortable linen white decor, accented beautifully by those turn-of-the-century posters, to the hand-crafted entrees and desserts, everything about Joe Rombi’s says fresh, new and original. Joe’s specialty, his ravioli dishes, are a renowned local favorite, and for good reason. They are rolled, filled and cut by hand, with all the care that only a lifetime of creative food combining can bring. In addition to pasta, Joe’s known for his fresh fish and meat specials. The desserts are made in-house, and the service is personal and inviting.

"Food quality was very poor given the price tag! I spent over $100 (inc an over-priced bottle of sub-standard italian wine) and the food tasted about as good as Johnny Corrinos or Olive Garden. The eggplant parmesan had what appeared to be canned tomato sauce in a rather thick layer, and the salad had too much of a very low grade milky dressing. I was a bit perplexed about this restaurant and why it was so popular with the locals..."

"We ate at Joe Rombi's on a friend's recommendation. Food was excellent - had a cream of asparagus soup that was fresh tasting and delicious. Service was very good, desserts yummy! We will be back!"

"We had a wonderful dining experience and will return when visiting Pacific Grove. The restaurant has a very welcoming feeling, as if you one of the local residents come there on a regular basis. This was our first time there."

"The food is delicious! Sunday night (only) they serve spaghetti and meatballs. This dish is to die for. The service is attentive and friendly. Joe Rombi himself takes a break from the kitchen now and then to greet all his guests and makes them feel welcome. A wonderful dining experience and we will be back."
