Tucked away in the Tariffville section of Simsbury in a historic textile mill dated back to the 1800's. This 1000 square foot, 7 table charming restaurant sits closely to the Farmington River. Exposed beams, hardwood floors, high back leather chairs, a wide open kitchen sets the mood to this trendy hot spot. Owners Ryan and Kelleanne Jones emphasize on making you feel like you are having dinner in their home. Kelleanne services each table while Ryan mingles with our lucky friends eating at the chef's counter. With the use of many ingredients locally sourced, a menu that changes daily and Chef Ryan Jones' adventurous culinary efforts, the mill at 2t has become a dining destination not to be missed.
"The Mill at 2T is our favorite restaurant. The menu changes daily and there is always something delicious. The wait staff is courteous and attentive. Sitting at the counter is always a treat, and the chef has given me samples of food I would not have imagined trying. All around a wonderful experience."

"This was our first trip to The Mill at 2T, on the advice of our close friends who we met there. A small, quaint setting with an active "eat at the wine & beer bar and watch the chef cook atmosphere". The food was outstanding. I opened with the escargot, the best I've ever had. My wife had the rib eye, a healthy juicy steak. My entre was the rabbit, not something I order often. It was very satisfying, a little boney, but the plating and taste were wonderful. We all finished sharing the dessert taster, don't leave without trying the donuts. Maybe pricey, but worth it. A smallish wine list, but complete. We will go again, and bring friends!"

"We went here for our wedding anniversary and really enjoyed ourselves. We liked the intimate setting and how they made us feel extra special. We were pleasantly surprised with some bubbly that they brought to the table immediately to wish us a Happy Anniversary. This was my second visit and my husband first time and he agreed that he would definitely come back again. Thanks to the whole staff at Mill at 2T!"

"Honestly just amazing. I love the decor and style. The service is excellent - knowledgeable and professional but still enthusiastically friendly and warm. The wine selection is phenomenal, and the pairing is both perfectly executed and a phenomenal value. And of course, the food - likely the best in CT and I've covered a lot of ground throughout the state. Absolutely superb."

"First visit here and I can say it is easily the best restaurant in Connecticut. The popovers were great. Went with the pork belly appetizer and I have never had a blend of flavors that matched so well and tasted so delicious. The Pork shank matched that quality and the dessert trio was the perfect way to finish the meal.Service was attentive and not overbearing. Cannot wait to come back."

"The food was outstanding with choices for everyone. Prices were on the high side but not overpriced. Portions were fine for the type of restaurant. I heard a lot about the menu changing daily, but I am not sure that was the case as the menu posted on the internet was very similar. The tables were spaced far enough apart to ensure privacy as well as comfort. Service was prompt and friendly. It would have been a nice touch if one of the owners would have taken a moment to stop by tableside and ask if we were satisfied--the answer would have been YES. We are looking forward to our next visit."

"We just moved from Boston, avid diners of NYC, SF, etc, and have worked in restaurant and nightclub hospitality for 15 years, so our expectations are always naturally high, but this was a let down. Sorry, guys. Food was confusingly and overwhelmingly flavored with staples like carrots and peppers, or grits, but surprisingly plain and uneventful. Let's get to the place where one is pleasantly surprised and impressed by just a single flavor innovation... not 10 attempts at innovation, all on one plate. Portions were extremely but expectedly small. High point was that protein choices were delicateThey need get some serious creativity juice, because the location and atmosphere is rather quite nice. Add server(s) on the weekends, though."

"Food was outstanding, the service attentive and the wine list was complete. It's a small place so you dine in close proximity to the other guests but only a small drawback in light of all the things that are so good about this great restaurant."

"The service is impeccable. The staff has their routine perfectly choreographed to a point that it is somewhat a transactional experience. You know going in that you have two hours to eat dinner. My wife and I are very conscious of how long we have occupied a table, we just always had a feeling that we were being timed. The food was very good. My wife and I had the Hanger steak. Our only preference was that we like it sliced a little thinner. The markup on the wine seems a bit excessive."

"Our second time here and it confirmed our initial impression of the Mill @2T being a outstanding dinning experience. This time we went with another couple and we again did the tasting menu. The chef even accommodated a dietary restriction of one of our party. The food was outstanding; each course a tasty blend of ingredients and sauces. We chose the wine tasting accompaniment and each was generously poured and explained and were excellently paired. The Mill is expensive, but you are not only paying for the high quality food, but also the creativity of this husband and wife duo - every night a different menu. What a labor of love to create the 4 menus a week, then pair the right wines, constantly remaining fresh. We highly recommend."

"My lamb was delicious. Cooked to perfection and my side garnishes were delicious. My husband's pounded pork, however, was very salty. When my husband originally ordered the pork the waitress said that the pork is the juiciest she has ever had. She then came back and said that the pork that night would be pounded and breaded. She did not, however, say that the side was also changing from asparagus to greens. We had already ordered a salad. So having two sides of greens was overkill and he had originally ordered the pork because he wanted asparagus with it.
The Salad was good - but the delicious garnishes were overcome by the greens."

"The Mill at 2T provides a consistently outstanding dining experience. The menu is upscale and inventive and will delight any foodie. The service is always very good-to-excellent. The ambience in the overall small space is softly lit and charming, although it can be described as "energetic-to-noisy" when all tables are full. Tables are not, however, crammed together but are well-spaced for a comfortable and private dining experience. This is not a good restaurant for children or for groups. Adult foodies will love this place."

"Had to send back the rib eye entree, as it was ordered as "medium" and arrived as "rare". Came back ok, but overall there was more fat on the cut than there was meat. In effect, the amount of meat was like a small piece of tenderloin...and the lighting was so low in the restaurant that it was hard to see what was being cut on the plate! Desserts and appetizers were great."

"This cozy restaurant turns any dinner into a special occasion. The food is expertly prepared and appetizingly presented. Our scallops and filet were perfectly cooked and delicious. We tried to resist the desserts, but failed. The dessert sampler was the perfect solution. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"I loved the restaurant--small and intimate, and not crowded with too many tables. Food was fabulous--I had a veal chop which I would have to say was one of the best entrees I ever had. Pork loin was excellent, as were the oysters. Food was all superbly prepared. Cappuccino and pot d'creme were a great ending. Service was excellent. It was fun to see the food being prepared. Experience rates as high as many San Francisco "foodie" restaurants I have been to in the past 5 years."

"Nice ambiance, but it was a cold night and we had the table by the front door which was cold despite the heavy curtain inside the front door. Lack of a waiting area is a problem - we arrived on time and were herded into a tiny space by the bar to wait for 10 minutes. It felt hokey. Dinner was a mixed bag - appetizers were delicious and beautifully prepared. Main course was disappointing - risotto heavy on butter and cheese, NY strip too fatty, osso bucco overcooked and fish was ok. Wine list was quite good and prices were reasonable. Service was efficient but lacked warmth. Overall, we were disappointed compared to what we had been told to expect. Our group rated it 6/10. Perhaps we caught them on an off-night?"

"Great evening that didn't start out so well. Following the several email advisories to be on time, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for a table. Because space is limited, there is no good place to convene while waiting. We also noted a drafty condition that was especially strong by the wall/window where we waited to be seated--not as bad at our table which was on the bar side of the partition.
The staff made up for the delay by apologizing and then bringing several complimentary plates in addition to what we ordered (that's how to capture customers). Conner was our waiter and very good once we got rolling. All of the food was very good to outstanding. Wine list was more than adequate. Will definitely return."
