"not only so my party and I could have a conversation without being involved with the 6 surrounding tables, but also for the food. Serving sizes are generous. The place was crazy busy on a Wednesday night and the hostess station lacked some courtesy, but was also being overwhelmed. The place was a tad unorganized but we all had a good time."

"We are from California and on Vacation. We found out our friends also from California would be in DC the same time we would. So I set up a dinner date with them. Our hotel, the Hampton Inn had you on their list of steak houses that they recommend. I checked your website and menu and it looked very good. Our dinner was great. The food was fantastic. The wine excellent and the beer was good too.
The only down side was that it was over crowded and extremely loud for me.
Our waiter was outstanding.
I would recommend your place to my friends and I will go back when ever I am in town."

"Very busy night made for a loud dining room. Although very busy the service was outstanding. From quickly being served a drink in the upstairs bar while waiting for the table to be ready to outstanding service during dinner the waitstaff performed outstandingly. We only ordered burgers, but they were very well prepared and cooked properly. My only issue was that my burger came with two bun bottoms and no top. Their expediter was probably slammed, but everything else was so on target I didn't expect such an error. I didn't complain; I'm confident that if I had they would have jumped through burning hoops to fix it.

"Two of us ordered steaks which were okay, but nothing to write home about. One ordered the salmon which was overcooked so it was solid and tasteless. The other ordered a pork chop which was served pink all the way through. We questioned and they took it away, but did not offer a replacement. Then when the bill came we were charged in full for the chop! Not coming here again!"

"It was 60 minutes till concert and was concerned that the Chophouse won't be able to get the meal out without feeling rushed. The did an awesome job of attending to our needs quickly, never felt rushed and the food was delicious. Food was okay. Got the filet mignon with root vegetables. Steak was good. Veggies were not cooked enough. Companion got new york strip...extremely fatty. Fries with that dish were a little soggy.

"I have only had the pleasure of dinning at the District Chophouse a few times, but I cannot sing its praises loud enough. The atmosphere is fun, and the building is beautiful. The wait-staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. And the food is fresh, delicious, and the selection is optimal. Not overwhelming in selection nor is it to sparse. And to top it all off they bring fresh cornbread to the table as a starter. You cannot beat that.
In all it is one of the best places I have eaten in the city!"

"Although I have never tried their beers and ales, this is my favorite restaurant in the Verizon Center area. They specialize in steaks and chops, and serve some of the best steak in DC. The service is always excellent and the ambience lively but not excessively so. It's also half a block from the Gallery Place Metro station. I'm an elderly woman who often dines alone and doesn't order drinks - not a preferred patron at most restaurants - but this restaurant makes me feel very welcome."

"Went for a pre-game meal before a Caps game. Food was good, but not good enough to be worth the premium prices - for a $30+ steak, you'll do better at Ruth's Chris or Morton's. Service wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. Waitress spilled an entire stout all over me (accident), but then the restaurant didn't comp anything - not even our appetizer. At other establishments in this price range, an accident like that usually results in your entire dinner being comped, or at least reduced. No ammends were made other than to replace the spilled beer and apologize.
Overall, not bad, but for the price, you can do much better elsewhere. I won't be back soon."

"We selected this restaurant for its location near Ford's Theater as we were attending a musical there later. Our reservation was for 5:30 in order to provide enough time to dine before the 7:30 show. We actually were served and departed by 6:30. We did not feel rushed, however. They just served the food in a prompt manner. We did not have appetizers or dessert which might have stretched the dining time longer. The staff all seemed attentive and welcoming. I enjoyed the prime rib and my husband enjoyed a chicken salad. Both were tasty...not over the top delicious, but enjoyable."

"Service was good, but the food was off. The salad course never came, so we simply cancelled it. Two of the steaks were wrong - one was overdone and the other was the completely wrong cut of beef. Noise level for dinner makes conversation a bit difficult. Disappointing for the price."

"First time visiting and saw this restaurant had several good reviews, and we like trying local brew houses. The beer was good, especially the Cherry Blossom Wheat, I believe? The salads were also good, but very basic. We each ordered filets, both medium. One was cooked appropriately, one very under cooked. After sending it back, the server returned, dropped the steak off, and left without a word, obviously upset I had sent the steak back, even though he agreed. After that, service was poor. We each ordered a second beer and it took so long to receive them we had already finished our meals and were ready to leave. This is a very nice looking restaurant, with good craft brews. Just wish the service was better than marginal."

"I hosted a dinner for five of my friends. The bill, which I paid was close to $380 including dinner charges for 332.65 plus a $50.00 tip.The waitress was quite professional. Three of my friends had the Filet Migonon,one friend had the Prime Rib, and I had a Delmonico steak. All my friends who had the Filet Mignon--loved it. My friend who had the Prime Rib also loved it."

"This was the third time we have eaten here, we found it once while walking around and stopped for some beer and apps. Everything was so good we came back for Valentines day to try out dinner. Everything here is amazing. The beer is brewed in house, they have a wonderful assortment of steaks as well as seafood. I love the Chophouse!"

"The food was pretty good, but the service was not. Food. My steak was not even pink and was ordered medium rare. The prime rib that another ordered was well done. The cornbread and the apple pie were very good. The real issue was the service, we were TOLD when we made a reservation for 8 that everyone had to be there to be seated and they would charge an 18% gratuity. They did not charge the gratuity and seated us alright, but then made us wait 10 minutes before coming into our room to check on us. Like they didn't know we were there. They could have sold us 10 more drinks and 3 more bottles of wine if they worked it. So, no mediocre food and terrible service...not right for big groups, or we had a bad waiter."
