"I love going to this place! All staff are very personable and they everything they can to appease the customer and create a pleasant and memorable dining experience.
The food is awesome! There is no other way to describe it. They always have different special dishes and everything is cooked to absolute perfection. Also, if you've never had truffle Mac and cheese, you NEED to try it!! It's one of their side dishes and is amazing!
Excellent wine selection. The servers are surprisingly well versed in the various types of wine. There is also a 30% off special for bottles of wine on Sunday which I have taken full advantage of!"

"Whereas the food was phenomenal and presented to near perfection, the service was poor, at best. The hostess, upon our prompt arrival for our reservation, was unfriendly. With open tables available and a request to sit in a window was gruffly told "No" and lead to the back of the restaurant. This was a quiet, private room, that was partially filled, unfortunately with a toddler who was not well controlled by her parents.
Service was slow in that it took 10 minutes for water glasses to be filled. The table was partially set and a request for a bread plate and utensils had to be made for our part of 3. We waited no less than 15 minutes, between courses. It took 20 minutes sitting at the table to receive a check."

"Was just looking for a stop en route to DC. Found a super-stupendous dining excursion!! Had the 5-course tasting & each course was truly a piece of food heaven. From the coconut shrimp to the smoked salmon which came covered in glass and the smoke was released by the server, it was remarkable & more than the price listed on the menu. My wife who had the wine pairings too, said it was dining paradise. Bravo & Encore to the chef & the whole Fin staff!"

"We went to Fin on the spur of the moment and it was great decision. Some in our group had seafood, some had beef and others had the 5 course prix fix and everything was delicious. No one was disappointed. Our server was Daylon and he was most helpful with suggestions for wine selection to starters and entrees. He did everything to make our dining experience all the more enjoyable. We can't wait to return."

"Wow!!! Attended the Cass Wine dinner last night & it was amazing. Delicious lobster salad was accompanied by the Rockin' One, a white Rhone blend, followed by yummy halibut with Roussane, a citrusy cousin to Viognier. Then the always incredible duck confit with a special Grenache. Next up: wonderfully tender & flavorful beef cheeks and a fabulous, not overly muscular Cab! Dessert was chocolate mint ice cream & cake with raspberry puree, served with the Syrah dessert wine. Cannot wait to go back & pair the Rockin' One with Kenny's to-die-for foie gras!"

"My wife took me to Fin's for my 51st birthday. What a gem in Newport News. The service was great but the chef's food choices and combinations were exquisite. The chef offered a wide variety of seafood and red meat selections. I chose the Scallops- delectible and delicious. And, the restaurant did give me a nice food surprise to celebrate my "You're Getting Older" party. Oh well, if you are going to get old, and we all do - my suggestion, give Fin's a try. It won't disappoint." You'll find that "Heart of the Ocean" we all look for."

"Unfortuantely we were running 8 minutes late to the restuarant. After we arrived, my wife nd I were informed that they had given our table away and that they didn't have another one. We sat in the bar area. It took 30 minutes just to get our soups. I have eaten at Fin for business lunches many times, but never for dinner. I would not recommend anymore."

"We had seating in the back room which is recommended-better ambiance, quiet. Appetizer menu very diverse: foie gras and ahi tuna were excellent. We sampled the entire appetizer menu over previous visits and the lump crab dip is also a favorite. Server was very knowledgeable regarding the specials and answered many questions regarding choices in which she indicated that everything was cooked to order so if there was an item listed that was not wanted on the dish it could be removed or substituted. She was also helpful in choosing a wine which we had the Conundrum both red and white. The only negative comment would be that the creme brulee was extremely cold (almost frozen) in the center but custard was warm around the edges."

"What can I say.....Fin is THE BEST Restaurant in Hampton Roads! The Chef, Kenny Sloane Jr and His Team are perfectionists! Their motto is that If they themselves will not eat it then they will not serve it to their guests! I will return to Fin often when I am in town! If you haven't tried Fin for Dinner you are missing out on a foodies delight!
The wine list made The Wine Spectator and it is ALL THAT and MORE!"

"We went here before the theater and felt like we had stumbled onto a gem. The majority of the menu is fish that is what our party of four ordered. The She-Crab Soup was excellent with large lumps of crab and just the right amount of cream--not the thick gelatinous mess usually served. I ordered an appetizer as my main course of pork belly and fried oysters. The oyster were so tender they could be cut with a fork. My husband ordered the mahi-mahi special and said he would definitely order it again. Service was excellent. The only miss was not giving the prices of the specials and our not asking. Recommend it highly."

"We have gone to this restaurant for the past 3 years at least twice a year. I love their scallops and my husband enjoys the steak. We were disappointed in the table location but we still enjoyed the dinner. Apparently the table we were seated at was reserved for a regular customer so they had to move us to the next table. I don't believe we have minded except by the time we left no one had been seated at that table so we didn't understand why we had to move. We were pleasantly surprised when we were first seated at the table we have gotten almost every time we ate there but when we had to move my husband was not happy. If we knew we could pick the table we liked we would've done so. To move us when no one showed up didn't make sense."

"Though pricey, the cooking and presentation of the food was excellent. The location of this place makes for the potential for great atmosphere. But atmosphere is driven by the wait staff and clientele - which can only be built with a consistently trained wait staff. If some management attention were put into this area, this restaurant could have achieved atmosphere and would certainly grow in popularity. Both the hostess and the counter clerk were preoccupied with what we assume was a new customer service program on their computer. As a result they barely noticed us the whole time. The waitress was young, inexperienced and lacked confidence but she was well-meaning. Teach her to be invisible."

While it was expensive we had decided to go all out to celebrate five years of dating. Our food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Even with an open concept kitchen I didn't even notice any noise coming from the kitchen until they were cleaning up to end the night, we had reservations for 8 so by the time we left they were beginning to close down. Absolutely recommend Fin to anyone wanting to have a romantice night out with someone special."

"My husband and I went for a valentine's date night. The food was really good. My husband got the crabcake, lets just say his plate was clean when the waiter cleared the table!! Our waiter was a young man and he was very friendly and accommodating. I will definietly go back. I would like to go on a warm day and eat outside.

"This restaurant is a gem. You absolutely have to try the foie gras.....it's decadent. Great wine pairing available as well. All the food literally from soup to dessert is house made. "Met 3 friends for lunch on a weekday. Everyone thought their food was great and service was also very good. I had a salad with the crabcake and their crabcakes are incredible -- all lump crabmeat with what seems like no filler. We especially liked the fact that even though the restaurant was fully booked the noise level was quiet, which made it easy for us to talk without raising our voices."

"My husband and myself went for dinner 01-21-13 and we definitely enjoyed it.The only dissapointing thing was that we came for the scallops and they were out of them, although our reservation was 6:30 PM which seemed really early to sell out of scallops on a dinner menu. We had a bottle of Shiraz and he got the braised beef and Lobster and I got the prime rib. We were both very pleased with our food! The server was very attentive. Its a little pricey but well worth it. I cant afford to go weekly but would go back for a special occassion."
