"This was an impressive place. Dinner reservations for three fairly early and mid-week (5:45 PM) resulted in being seated at the "best table in the house" according to the hostess. She wasn't wrong I don't think. We were seeated out over the water with two in a corner of glass facing both San Diego and Coronodo Island. It was an amazing view....so they probably could have gotten away with a little slacking on the food. They did not. The albacore stack, nutencrusted bried, albacore and scallops at dinner were all awesome. Might be one of my favorite meal....well certainly in a very long time. Great place, really great place!"

"This was our first time bringing the kids with us Tina fine dining establishment and we couldn't have mad a better choice. Our server went out of his way to cater to the kids as much as he did the adults. I've been in the restaurant business for a long time and am a little over critical sometimes. This is, by far, the best service I've ever received and I have eaten at dozens of other fine dining restaurants in San Diego. Great job Island Prime - we'll definitely be back.
Oh yeah, the food was great too. Had the seared ahi and highly recommend it."

"Great wine list with some good values. The view is exceptional. Excellent lobster bisque and a wonderful Caesar salad. We had beef and fish entrees and they were all good. We weren't as impressed with the side dishes. They were ok but too expensive. They are huge (more than four of us needed) and would be a huge waste for one or two diners. For $45+ for an entree I would like to see at least a few simple grilled vegetables and/or a small portion of potatoes on my plate. I might pay extra for a special side but there's no chance I would pay $12-16 for a potato and a similar amount for some corn or spinach to dress my almost-naked plate of beef.
The room is so noisy that we had to lean across the table to carry on a conversation."

Always enjoy the bread they offer hear as you wait for your food. Prices are comparable to what you'd pay for any "finer dining" restaurant. Upside to Island Prime is the view. I come here about twice a year with my wife and always enjoy my experience."

"Island Prime is a great date night restaurant with spectacular views. We had a loud table next to us but after a while we could zone them out...seemed like all tables were into themselves so the noise wasn't much of an issue. The food and service were excellent. Everything of course is al dente but the portions are pretty big. We got the Mac n cheese on the side and came home with all of it, it was the size of a meal!"

"Food was great and view is amazing! Great for special occasions or a romantic dinner. Close to the downtown area but better because their is lots of parking and you don't have to pay. After dinner you can take a nice walk along the bay!"

"We were late - totally our fault.And they cancelled our reservation - makes sense, it's a business.But why can't they call to let us know, and also tell us that kitchen closes at 9 (reservation was to 8:45)??"

"Island Prime and its staff deserves as many stars as humanly possible because it is an absolutely amazing restaurant. The large windows that act as the walls all around the outer edge of the restaurant provide amazing views of the San Diego Skyline and Harbor so even without a window seat you are able to enjoy the gorgeous view. The view is even more beautiful once the sun sets and all of downtown San Diego lights up. Once the sun sets the lighting and atmosphere in the restaurant changes create a wonderfully romantic and comfortable ambiance to dine in. The dishes are sublime with reference to the taster course and I would highly recommend them to any who would like to dine at Island Prime. The service is impeccable! Highly reccomend!!!"

"Dylan, our waitstaff person was poor and only interest was turning the table. We were there for Easter dinner. We had to ask twice for second round drinks and finally came when dinner was over.
If you want a great view and good food go, if you want to be treated like numbers from a teflon waiter and get Dylan, change tables."

"I love this place so it will always get a great review from me. The food is amazing, the service is great and the view is awesome! "It was my first time taking a date here and it was amazing! We were seated at a booth that looked out onto downtown and it was breathtaking. The food was delicious. The service, amazing they gave us a free small appetizer as we waited because our food was taking a while (even though we didn't mind the wait). I will definitely comeback to this place."
