"While the server coul've been more helpful and informative (they were out of the steak on 5/4), the food was well-prepardd and delicious, and the wine quality and selection impressive. We don't get there that often, but have found the food great for lunch or dinner. The ability to choose LOCAL fish and wine was a plus!"

"The salmon and salads were fresh, perfectly seasoned and tasty. The mint julep was in a beautiful silver cup with a metal straw... I felt like Scarlett O'Hara! The street the restaurant is on is a little off the beaten track, which might be a good thing. It was pretty quiet and the restaurant was about 2/3 full... If they were on the main drag, it would have been standing room only, the food was that good. Lots of locals; we're from Phoenix, so it was fun to pretend to be a Santa Barbara native for a night."

"Likable service staff always makes eating here an enjoyable experience. Room to the side of noisy bar is not as comfortable for dining as seating area behind to the back of bar area. Happy hour menu also is not available at dining tables, which is not made clear before being seated and really is an unreasonable policy when seating in bar and patio aren't available. I had the sampler plate and it was tasty and ample."

"We brought sophisticated Brooklynites for dinner and they were very impressed with food and ambience. Two teenagers, who fortunately liked seafood, were nicely preoccupied with crab legs. we enjoy Arch Rock Fish for good food and service--and because its lively atmosphere doesn't drown out the ease of conversation made possible by cozy booths. We like it as a place to take visitors for extended convesation."

"I had the Grilled Wild Bass with salsa fresco, green olives and cilantro. It was very tasty but tiny. Luckily, my dinner companion had ordered the Seafood Cobb and was willing to share it. "Was looking forward to some fresh fish and seafood while in Santa Barbara with the family. I was informed that Arch Rock Fish was kid friendly, hip, fresh and a real gem. Unfortunately, I would have to disagree.
Cod with Bok Choy was ok, but not out of this world. You can throw a rock and hit 15 restaurants in LA who do this dish well. However, it was out of this world in comparison to their special of Maine Lobster. That dish was horrendous and it was likely one of 3 things (1) overcooked, (2) previously frozen, or (3) BOTH!
My assumption is #3 based on the texture of the tail and claw meat (rubber and paste).
Best part of the meal was the truffle French fries. I think that this is a great spot for happy hour, but reconsider dinne"

"My wife and I recently dined at Arch Rock Fish for the first time. Being East Coasters, we had to try the Ipswich Fried Clams as a starter. While they weren't the size of Ipswich Clams back home, they were pretty good and the first we have seen in Santa Barbara. My wife tried the Lobster Roll for her entree. It was a bit different take than you get in New England, but she was very satisfied. I had the Miso Cod which was very tasty. My wife particularly liked the Margaritas as they were clearly freshly made as opposed to a premix. We hope to return soon as Arch Rock is a good compliment to the seafood options that we have always gotten at Brophy's."

"The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere, everything was clearly recently redone, and redone very nicely. The menu wasnt big, which in my opinion is a very good thing, that generally means is what they serve they do well, and everything we ordered was excellent, they had a great wine and beer list, and great service, oh and because I tend to drink water like a fish it was nice that they dont just give you a glass of water they also give you another bottle on the table so you have plenty of water without waiting for refills. My new favorite restaurant in the area."

"This is not our first time to this restaurant. A friend of mine recommended my wife for happy hour. After several visits i thought it would be ideal for our anniversary celebration. Upon arrival it took a big pause before the hostess acknowledge us. But they did acknowledge we were celebrating a special occasion. Overall experience was great. Our server was the same from our several visits and of course she remembers my wife. The busser was very efficient than most busser i had seen. Everything was very prompt. Food is alright. My wife ordered clam chowder which was good, but on the salty side. Our main course was simple. She ordered clam spagetti which again very salty but decided not to say anything. Lastly our server hosted us dessert."

"This is a very ordinary restaurant. We had fish & chips and asked to split a caesar salad. Graciously, they did split the salad but it was so bad we ate virtually none of it. The fish was tasty, and the chips were no different than a fast-food take-out. I really can't recommend this restaurant for much of anything. Too bad! we so need a good fish restaurant here in SB."

"We were a party of 6 and had a quiet booth towards the back which worked out well for conversation, but was awkward for serving. The waiter started off well, but deteriorated into casual and not very attentive. One of our party ordered a side of bok choy which eventually came with dessert because though we could have cancelled it, we wanted to see how long it would take. Also two coffees were ordered which were forgotten about, but showed up after second request. We were not charged for the bokchoy.
The service overall could be described as mis-managed, confused and too nonchalant; waiters are not well-trained. We will try again; our previous visit was a slightly better experience."

"This was our fourth time at Arch Rock -- twice for lunch and twice for dinner. The food is outstanding and the service very good. Our only complaint this time was the Happy Hour music volume continued a little too long. The main dining area was not crowded and the music was echoing making conversation difficult at times."

"The food the service the facility were all very good. The music was horrifyingly loud. This is a hallmark of this restaurant. I understand that the owner wants us to get out once we have Eat dinner. But, for the quality of restaurant and the price, it would be great to turn down the music. Also not everybody likes technopop or schlock jazz. Even the waiters and waitresses complain about it. This is so easy to fix, that I hope you considerate."

"The restaurant’s management seemed to have been left in the hands of the poorly trained college-age kids who made up the staff. I had a 7:30 reservation, but wasn’t seated until 7:55. Made the point of having a reservation meaningless in that respect. The atmosphere is nice, but the overall service was akin to a Chilli’s or TGIF’s. With the good reviews I read and at almost 100 dollars for 2 people, I had higher expectations but felt disappointed. The food was good, but not impressive enough to overcome the substandard service and motivated me to return. I suspect most of the clientele for this restaurant are one-time customers only. With so many superior restaurants in Santa Barbara, it’s unlikely I would ever return to this establishment."

"Have been here numerous times. Food always is good, at a good price point. This is a large restaurant, but divided seating areas cut down on noise. This visit involved an important meeting. Was unusually quiet, which was good for us. Friendly (not overly so) server.
Didn't matter this time, but Arch Rock has a very good happy hour. Good bartender and snacks, and cheap pours."
