"Lunch at LIFT is a leisurely affair. For people who have no limitations on their time, the food is very good indeed. But for a Wednesday afternoon at noon, there needs to be some appreciation that some patrons will have to head back to the office.
Our server was knowledgeable, charming and helpful, but there were long stretches between his appearances--and it was not to meet the needs of other diners, we were one of only a handful of tables in the restaurant at noon. Ten minutes here, five minutes there, and a simple two course lunch with a bottle of wine stretches to over an hour and a half.
If you have the time to spare, don't hesitate. But if you need to get back to the office, make a different choice."

"We generally visit Vancouver twice a year and always stop at Lift. Food is excellent! If weather permits, the upstairs deck has a million diollar view. Service is professional. Fish cooked as requested, beautifully plated and delicious."

"I would not go here for a gormet experience, thebfood was fine but not special and the wines were a bit pricey for what they were. The service wascgreat and the ambience with that wonderful view over the harbor made it all special. We ended up staying over 2 hours watching the sunset, so in $/ hour it was quite reasonable!"

"We went to Lift to try Chef Jefferson menu and be out on a patio. The patio on the rooftop/upstairs was packed. It's nice and has fantastic views. The food was good and the selection of non alcoholic beverages was nice so I didn't feel like I missed out on not drinking a cocktail like my dining partner. I also decided to spruce up my mushroom risotto with some shaved summer truffles. After sharing 3 appies and having a main course each no room for dessert!"

"Our starter was delicious and I have read the reviews online so I was trying to keep an open mind about the restaurant, and was pleasantly surprised with our first course. Our server was a bit goofy and did not have the product knowledge that I would expect at a restaurant with price points like Lift's. I was told my meal would come with completely different vegetables, no big deal, however my protein was ice cold. Not just "sat in the window" cold, but like cold cold. It took 20 minutes to get our second round of beverages. I ordered a glass of red wine to go with my venison and did not get the wine until I had one bite left of my meat. The portions are also extremely small. This place could be great, but they need to fix EVERYTHING."

"When the Sun is shining in Van you need to hit a patio for lunch.
Lift never disappoints.
Not to crowded, good beer selection on tap and a nice simple menu.
Service was good and the mushroom rissoto was a good choice.
The espresso needed some TLC but I think the machine was on its last leg.
But who cares, your having lunch in the sun with a great view!"

"We have been patrons of Lift for many years and have enjoyed its food--until now. Lunch was very disappointing. A piece of so-so halibut alone on a large plate with only a little potato was hard to look at (and for $28!). The order of fish and chips came with a mushy batter and so-so halibut along with chips made from low quality potatoes. The mussels were good but at the size of a nickel and insufficient. Some toast or frite served along with the mussels would have helped. One dish that was excellent was the salmon-tuna roll. It was delicious and beautifully prepared.--Unless better care is taken with your food, you will lose the fine reputation that you had. You shouldnt sacrifice food to rely on a beautiful view of the harbour."

"There are a lot of good restaurants in town. I like Lift and Cardero's because of the location. Lift is smaller and more intimate with a really cool roof top patio. The food is great and so is the service. I would go back but it is pricey."

"Started with a drink at the bar, and was told our patio table was ready. Bartender took our drinks on a tray and we met him at the stairs to head up to the patio. We were then told by the hostess (I think that's what her purpose was) that we couldn't go up yet. So we were told to stand at the bottom of the stairs (also by the kitchen) for about 5 minutes. Then, we were told that we could head up. Weird thing is? No one came down the whole time we were waiting! Why couldn't we head upstairs to wait instead of being told to wait by the kitchen? Then, I wanted the Grilled Calamari and 1:30, they were sold out. Strange, since it's also on their dinner menu. Oh well, at least they have a good view. Their food is better than their service."

"We went to Lift for Mother's day brunch. Large windows and location on the water make the views stunning even on a rainy day. My parents who had not been here before loved the location and ambience. Unfortunately our food was hit and miss. The Bennies were cooked to perfection but our bison short rib cassoulets were watery, thin on flavour and borderline edible. Service could have been more attentive since the restaurant was not very full. We had to get the attention of our waiter to ask for waters, top up for coffee cream and the bill."

"I was disappointed with the food quality and portion size for value. My food was extremely average. For example the organic green salad starter was a quarter cup lettuce with hardly any dressing and a few nuts a cranberries. For main, I had the halibut. The fish was well prepared though an extremely small portion with 1 piece of asparagus, 2 mini carrots and some herbs. Not worth $40."

"It was a prime location for patio but the patio is small and the restaurant will not let u book ahead and reserve it. We ended up inside. The service was good however the food was mediocre. We all had the egg bene with crab and the hollaindaise sauce was lacking substance. The crab was a poor choice we should have gotten smiked salmon. Will go back for the view but won't be eating from the brunch menu"

"The service was top notch so before we even looked at the menu we were relaxed and made to feel very comfortable. The luncheon menu had items that were not the norm in a number of other restaurants - healthy choices and a selection to cater to many tastes. One person had the sushi item and another the egg. We were all pleased with the presentation, quality and quantity of the food. Excellent service. As a foodie myself, I would recommend this restaurant to all."

"We had the dynamite roll [very good], followed by the smoked sturgeon [very tasty with a delicious variety of veggies] and a special Bison chop [tremendous]. The desserts were pleasant but underwhelming...and not up to the calibre of the earlier items. On the water in Coal Harbour...makes for a great view. "We had a nice dinner on Friday March 22, 2013 to celebrate my husbands birthday. The hostess was very nice and welcoming...she made our impression with the restaurant positive. We were given a lovely window seat overlooking Coal Harbour. The menus are ipads so if you are unfamiliar they take some time to figure out. Nice to be able to check out brunch and lunch menus for future visits.
The waiter was friendly, not too much not too little attention. The food came a little too quickly. I always like some time between ordering and the first course.

"We had a special occasion to celebrate and chose The Lift. We have eaten there before and enjoyed the food, creative bar drinks and overall atmosphere.
Our server was friendly and efficient with a full knowledge of each food item.
We will repeat and look forward to trying a Sunday brunch on a summer's day."

"It is undoubtably a great spot with a view of Coal Harbour and Stanley Park but that is all it has going for it. Service was mediocre at best and food was fair to unedible. Too bad. It is a gorgeous room."

"The food was too little. But everything else was great including the service, the reservation, preparation, and etc. If you really hungry and want to eat something I do not recommend it, but for a nice chat, romantic night, enjoying great ambiance and view, and relaxing, it is just perfect."

"We came to lift for the first time for brunch over the weekend. The service was notably horrible. The waiter did not acknowledge us- instead we were handed iPads. When asked a question in regards to menu the waiter advised I should look at the menu. We asked for water which did not come... So we asked a second server. We asked for coffee and sweater for the coffee... We never got this. So finally it came time to order- apparently the dish I ordered was not on the menu that day. When I am asking questions about the menu why not tell me then? So the other individuals at my table receive there food.. And I receive a notice that I need to order something else. Very frustrating I must say. I ended up ordering the burger which actually was good."

"The view and restaurant itself is great! I just don't like it when servers keep asking "how's everything?" Every 10mins in the middle of eating or conversing with my date! Customers will call someone when they need or dont like something. Overall, the place is recommended."
