Gilt Bar
A bunch of fine dining chefs and wine directors got together to create a casual restaurant that is inclusive and void of excess. The idea was to bring people together who are set on having a great night out surrounded by quality food (presented in a simple fashion), craft cocktails, beers and wine list focused on best value for the $'s.

"First time at Gilt Bar and it was great. The service was excellent and the food was all delicious. Not a very large menu or wine list, but plenty of good choices. We shared every dish (encouraged) and everything we tasted was wonderful. Would definitely go back."

"I took my friend here for her birthday dinner, and we loved it! The Tartare was wonderful and was so the Ceasar Salad with Salmon. We asked to be seated downstairs in the "Library" and it was a great change in scenery. Recently redone, it felt like we were on the set of a stunning movie. This wasn't my first time at Gilt Bar, and it won't certainly be the last!"

"My husband and I went there for my birthday dinner and were pleasantly surprised that Gilt Bar lived up the hype. We each tried a signature cocktail which were delicious. For appetizers we had the bone marrow and kale salad and for entrees (a la carte) I had the mussels and my husband had the Gunthorp Chicken. The food was fantastic and portion sizes were very generous! Our server was really great, our drinks took awhile to come because the bar was crowded. The restaurant is dimly lit but the ambiance and decor are so fantastic. Overall we enjoyed it very much and would not hesitate to recommend to friends for a date night or special occasion,"

"I'm sure my overall rating and experience would have been better if it wasn't for how our dinner started! We had booked a party of four and when my wife arrived we were greeted at the door by Brian who was charming and offered us the choice of eating on the main floor or in the lower level library. He also found someone to take us downstairs to see the library so we could decide. The waitress would not give us a table and seemed annoyed that we were there. While we waited for downstairs to confirm with upstairs that we were going to be permitted to eat downstairs, the waitress outright refused to allow us to order at cocktail at the bar. She remained cool and seemingly unfriendly as she took our order but seemed to warm up later."

"Overall really enjoyed Gilt Bar. My only issue is that the tables are so close together - its a bit tight. the person at the next table stood up and ended up knocking over our wine bottle because there was no space. Otherwise, this was nice."

"I love how dark and energetic vibe at Gilt Bar. The drinks and food was amazing. Everything we got was delicious from the entree to the dessert. It is not a small plate restaurants but the dishes are not huge, I was enough food for one person. Our waiter was really nice and knowledgeable."

"Typically, this is a great experience. Not the case with our service this time which was a bummer because I was entertaining guests. Our server just wasn't on his game and it seemed like it wasn't his fault...he just had too many tables. Great food runners and bussers trying to help out.

"Had friends in from out of town and had so many choices but decided on a new place for me - Gilt Bar. It was fabulous from the ambience, design, friendliness, well-versed server to every single entree was amazing. "We ate a very early dinner there - with a reservation. I was surprised that we were seated in the bar area, near the entry. Didn't even think to ask for a table in the dining room, but should have. Cant comment on the noise level because it was very early.
You must have the steak tartare. Great presentation and phenomenal appetizer. That is where the wow factor stopped for me with the food (drinks are great). The steak-which is a supposed to be very special, wasnt. The meat was sooooooooo fatty. The part that wasn't fat really had no flavor. Very disappointed. The gnocchi was very smoky. The smoky flavor of the pork belly dominated and was also disappointing.
I would go back to Gilt for the other appetizers and drinks."

"My girlfriend and I went for a Friday night dinner. The food was spectacular, the gnocchi w pork bell and sweet potatoe is one of my favorite dishes. "The Gilt Bar is bigger than it's sister restaurant Maude's Liquor Bar - bigger in size as well as energy. Whilst I wouldn't book a table at Gilt Bar for an intimate dinner for two (I would book Maude's), it is great for a small group of friends! The martini I had at the bar was expertly made and the bar was already buzzing at 5:45 on a Friday night. The booth my girlfriends and I were seated at for dinner was very comfortable and the food was yummy. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and brought all the plates to share (fun!) - the tenderloin steak tartare, fennel salad and gunthorp chicken were all really good but the mashed potatoes were the best!!!!!!"

"Food was actually better than the first time we went. Everything we ordered was great, although they were out of two items in the menu and told us we would have to wait an hour for our steak to sit. Given the small menu, a picky eater would have had a tough time. Service was slow, took 20 minutes to get first drink after ordering. But the downside was the unfriendly obnoxious waitress. She spokied what would have otherwise been a great menu. She was miserable and made no effort to hide it. The restaurant is great though and great atmosphere. Just needed a better waitress."

"Live next door and LOVE Gilt Bar. I go often, but recently, I actually watched the bar tender make our drinks (usually we just sit at a table and I don't have the occasion to watch). There is a reason why the cocktails are set melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They seem to be conducting science projects/artsy master pieces with each drink crafted. And the food is great - one thing I will say: Caesar is FANTASTIC, but always order it with light dressing. They tend to overdue it. And I love dressing. Service is ok. I always end up feeling like the waited could have done a better job, but with the food and drinks they're churning out, it's hard to really complain. Ambiance is vundebar as well! Dark, but not too dark, loud, but not too loud."

"I was extremely disappointed after hearing great things, but it took 15 minutes for our server to greet us or ask if we wanted drinks. At that point, I contemplated leaving. The wait staff tended to constantly disappear and the bus boys constantly snuck up behind me with no manners and could barely speak english. Overall, an awful experience."

"I've been to Gilt Bar a few times now and while the food is always good, it's also very rich and heavy so just be ready. The service was good and they have a good cocktail list that's just a little overpriced. The tartare and bone marrow were excellent."

"Very nice meal from the guys at Gilt. Ive been to Maudes and Au Cheval a bunch of times so I was familiar with a lot of the menu. Great food! The steak tartare was delicious as well as the shaved brussel sprouts. Wonderful vibe in the restaurant as well, dim lighting but sill very fun and playful. Great date spot"

"Food was amazing but a tad bit pricier than expected. Our only complaint was that we couldn't understand anything on the menu and our waitress couldn't explain it to us! We also sat by the front door which was freezing. All in all it's a good place, but our experience wasn't the best for a birthday dinner. I was also a little upset to find that the lounge downstairs was closed with no definite reopen date. Maybe next time?"

"Their steak tartare with the raw egg yolk on toast is the best thing on the menu. Everyone at our table agreed - we all LOVED it. Their salmon is great and so is their chicken. The fries are outstanding and so is the roasted fennel with goat cheese. Their chocolate cake special was really really good too. A++"
