Welcome to Numero 28 - voted the "Best Pizza in New York" by Citysearch.com readers. We specialize in authentic Neapolitan pizza, baked hot and fast in a brick oven to achieve a not-too-thick, not-to-thin chewy, smoky crust made from a recipe that's been handed down through five generations of pizzaioli (pizza makers). Our one-of-a-kind dough is then stretched into an oblong shape, topped with the freshest ingredients available and sold al metro "by the meter" just like you would find in Italy. To further the authentic Neapolitan dining experience, Numero 28 provides a casual, welcoming atmosphere of heavy wooden tables and whirring ceiling fans. Our friendly staff welcomes both neighborhood regulars and visiting strangers like long-time friends. In addition to our pizza, Numero 28 offers classic Italian dishes such as lasagna, rigatoni alla Bolognese, eggplant parmigiana, homemade tiramisu, and an assortment of antipasti.
"We LOVE this place. We have been frequenting this gem since we moved here last July. We take visitors here for "the best pizza in NYC." Everyone loves it. Our menu favorites: caprese salad (with real buffalo mozzarella) and 18in pizza split for each of our favorites - diavola and d.o.c. The service is always amazing!
I recently tried the pear salad (eh, not my favorite) and rustica pizza. Rustica was awesome! I may have a new favorite!
Also, they are on Scoutmob right now! Quite a deal! Enjoy!"

"I've been to Numero 28 and always have a great time - the food is delicious and the service is friendly. However, I felt like this time they rushed us out. We hadn't even finished our bottle of wine and the wait staff was hovering. There was a line of people waiting for tables but there was only 2 of us and we had a reservation. I would go back again and hopefully, we wouldn't be rushed out."

"I live on the same block as Numero 28 and love to eat there. I bring all my out of own guests here to eat. You must try regular pizza and at least one of the specialty pizzas. Delicious! I recommend making reservations for groups and on thursday through Sunday for dinner. Did I mention the cute Italian waiters?"

"The service here is always marginal, but the pizza is fantastic. We still prefer to order in from here than go to the actual restaurant, as the waitstaff seems wholly uninterested in working at a pizzeria."

"I've been to Numero 28 Pizzeria several times and I'd recommend it again and again for a real, authentic Neapolitan pizza. This is one of the places were you can be sure that you get Italian food. We started with Carpaccio di Bresaola (a kind of ham from the Northern regions of Italy, in the Alps) and then had a 18'' pizza: half San Daniele (prosciutto), and half Affumicata (with smoked cheeses). We finished with the Semifreddo al Pistacchio as dessert. Everything outstanding."

"Not a place to come grab a slice, but rather a restaurant which appreciates pizza as an art form. Certainly the best I've had so far.
We ordered a 28" pizza made of 3 different menu offerings: Numero28 – buffalo mozz, speck, truffle cream and mushrooms; Pere – mozzarella, gorgonzola, pears(!) and walnuts; San Daniele – tomato, mozzarella, arugula , Parma prosciutto. It was heavenly.
We know little about wines, but the waiter, who was lovely, friendly and efficient, seemed to know his stuff so we took whatever he suggested, which was great I think was called Primitivo."

"Pere (Gorgonzola, pear, walnuts) white pizza was very good. Sausage and peppers pizza was good, but the crust was too soft from the sauce. Arugula salad was dressed well."
