"Overall it was a good experience, I did perhaps feel that it could have been better. I had the ribeye and it was a good piece of meat but i did not care for the sauce. My date loved her salmon. Three of the musssels served as an appetizer had not opened.

"It was our first time to go out as group and by the time we were through we had decided it would be a montly event. The polenta was delightful as were the taco salads and the burgers. Service was all you could hope it to be and the atmosphere kept the mood upbeat and celebratory. We intend to come back to the Grape in the future."

"We did our first "best hamburger" event at The Grape and it was everything and more than we anticipated. The hamburger is a limited offering twice weekly and the demand exceeds the restaurant capacity. Make your reservations early! We have dined here several times off the regular menu and have never been disappointed. The wine list is outstanding and Courtney can highlight some great choices. This is a favorite restaurant that we will visit over and over again.
I hesitate offer my 5 star rating...it may make reservations even more challenging going forward. Sometimes you just want to keep this type of "gem" for yourself and friends."

"I've been to The Grape many times before, and have previously been overjoyed with the experience. However, this visit was less than perfect.

The food was good, but not spectacular (I had the brie and the risotto, he had the mushroom soup and the osso bucco). The waiter needed us to repeat our orders after placing them the first time. And it was noisy. The restaurant wasn't full, yet the waitstaff seated everyone at nearby tables, so we were treated to an energetic discussion of the marital problems of a woman at the next table (in case you're curious, she and her husband get up in the morning, no cuddling, no talking, just hustle hustle hustle to get the kids ready for school, where has the romance gone...)

They can do better."

"This is a neighborhood restaurant with food worthy of DFW recognition metroplex-wide. This is our third visit in the last 3 months. Food and service are consistently pleasing. The other night we had the sea bass and the grouper. Fresh, nicely prepared, seasonal vegetables, and flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. A delightful dining experience!"

"The food at The Grape is always fantastic. You can always expect to pay a premium for their food, but on Valentine's Day, they seemed to be taking advantage of the occasion. They had a fixed menu of three courses, charging $65 per person. The entrees were marked up to $45 each, and the three course requirement forced us to buy two desserts ($10 each). We definitely wouldn't have ordered more than one. We'll probably go back, but not on a holiday. It was like charging double for a generator during a power outage."

"We are never disappointed when we dine at our neighborhood gem. We love sitting at the little bar and enjoying a cocktail and some appetizers. This past dining experience was just a wonderful. We had Valentines Brunch. We ate in the main dining room. It is such a beautiful, romantic room. The food was wonderful and the service perfect as always. We cannot wait for spring to arrive so we can sit on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine and charcuterie plate. The Grape can satisfy almost any dining preference---whether it is a cocktail and snacks in their cozy bar......patio wine and dine.....or a romantic dinner in the dining room......all are perfection!"

"I went to The Grape with my boyfriend to experience what was supposed to be "The Best Burger in Texas". This burger was definitely that, and more. I normally wouldn't suggest shelling out $12 for a burger, but I have to admit that it was more than worth it, and if you find the time...please go sample it. Also, if you're up early enough on a Saturday to make it to brunch, I recommend the polenta fries. They were indeed delicious."

"Wonderful brunch on Valentine's Day! Had the cornmeal-dusted roasted trout w/eggs, bacon and potatoes which was decadent but delicious. They were out of the sweet potatoes and so brought both the wonderful french fries AND the oven roasted redskins. Mimosas and Bloody Mary's were delicious and very reasonable. Wine list was very interesting and well-priced with many by the glass--we'll try next time for dinner. Very busy day but service was excellent. Highly recommend (and those burgers at the adjoining tables looked to die for!)"

"Februay 13th, so big crowd for Valentines Day. Tables were squished close together and have to have customers stand up to get to our table. Was like eating at a family dinner table, they were so close. Food was awesome. I had the special, filet with lobster...mmmm mmmm mmmm. Help was tremendous and based on our requirements, picked a fabulous bottle of wine. I want to go back and see if tables are the same way on nights when not so busy...if they are, I would request a table along the wall to have a little more privacy. I would go back for sure though, just a different table."

"Wow, where to begin. First I would like to say that our waiter was great and attentive. However that is the only good thing that I could say about this meal. I ordered the duck and my partner ordered the steak frites. The duck was ok but the sides boring. His steak was mediocre at best.

For dessert I ordered the apple dish hoping for at least a decent ending to the meal. Alas I would have been better to have stopped at Krogers and bought a frozen pie.

This is my first time reviewing a restaurant and I usually cut people slack for bad days etc but this truly was disappointing.

There was no comparison between this restaurant and Hatties in the Bishop Arts which just sparkles."

"The Grape is one of our favorite splurges. This was a belated Valentine's dinner, and we always request seating in the Tuscan Room, which is quiet, with only about 8 small tables. This night we had it to ourselves, but that didn't prevent the waiters from keeping good track of our needs. The Grape has an excellent wine list, but offers only a limited selection by the glass; however, that selection is also excellent quality stuff. Note that if the entree says it comes with a salad on the plate, it's not just a few leaves of green, but a full-size side salad, which saves you a few bucks relative to most places. The menu is short, fewer than 10 entrees, but the selection is good, and the food has never let us down."

"We came in for dinner on 2/12/10. The food was outstanding. Service was good, but not great, as we had to ask more than once for more than one item, such as bread. Our only significant complaint was the lack of elbow room in the dining room we were in - the smaller dining room with all the murals on the walls. Our small table for two was not the issue, but my wife and i had very little room to move, as our table had very little room behind either of us. We had to be very careful to not hit the people behind us. Overall, dinner was very good and we will return. However, we might not return during a special event weekend, like Valentine's Day weekend."

"My wife found the overall noise level to be way too loud, caused by loud PA music combined with chatter from the (very) nearby tables. If you like "energetic" ambience, as OpenTable very euphemistically puts it (instead of saying "loud"), this would be a good place.

The croque madame appetizer with truffles was very good, as was the special I ordered, sea bass with risotto, artichokes and tomato. My wife liked the other special, steak Oscar."

"We thought The Grape was awesome. Our little group of four had a cozy table and a server who was attentive without hovering. We were all charmed by how cozy and warm the place was. Our table was VERY near the front door but we never got a blast of cold air. The food was great. We went for brunch and though most of us had their now famous burger someone tried their cornmeal pancakes which were also very good. The two coffee drinkers at our table also remarked that their coffee was exceptionally good."

"We have dined here twice. The grape is a gem. Shades of a French bistro atmosphere, blackboard menu, and southern hospitality make the Grape feel warm and homey. "We went for Sunday brunch and had the Burger, voted Best in Texas by Texas Monthly. It did not disappoint! Everything from the brioche bun to the perfectly cooked medium temperature was delicious, including the hand-cut fries, crisp and without a hint of grease on the plate. The place was very busy, especially since the "Best" article and the fact that the hamburger is only served on Sundays and Mondays, but the service was excellent. Bloody Mary was delicious and just the right accompaniment. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. The place was warm and inviting. "This neighborhood bistro is a real find! We enjoyed it so much that we returned 2 nights later for an encore performance. The food is world-class. The ambience is unpretentious, casually very nice. We were probably the only "tourists" in the restaurant. Everyone else seemed to be very loyal repeat customers. This is a great place to get an excellent meal from an innovative menu and a great glass of wine (by the glass or bottle) without breaking the bank!"

"Tight seating, loud, food was just OK...very costly for what your getting.
The tables are plywood w/table cloths thrown over, the whole place is a hole in the wall w/cheap decor, not worth the prices they are charging.
For example $2 for a can of coke?? really? a can...classy? NOT! Pricey? YES.

My burger was bleeding, seriously not cooked, other than that the rest of it was good.

We had 2 burgers and our total was around $40 w/tip."

"I took a friend that I hadn't seen for two years. We loved being able to talk and catch up while we enjoyed wine and dinner. Everything was perfect. . .I loved the trout and she loved the steak. We shared the bread pudding and it was "to die for!" We both enjoyed everything, from the quiet space, the wine, every bite of food and the divine dessert. Our waiter was very patient and helpful. "I was living in Dallas in the early seventies when The Grape started up. We loved it as a small wine bar where we could gather for wine and cheese plates. It was very small but began to serve other food. I have just returned to Dallas and was amazed that The Grape was still around, and in the same locaion, after more than 35 years. "The food is amazing..I went to this restaurant when it first opened in 72 in my dating years...except for a grately expanded menu and prices it was as lovely as then.
My only complaint now is the prices are certainly not the two $$ that shown online. It is, in fact pricey when you consider a regular menu item to be 25-28 dollars. Loved the free valet parking...and just adored the food."

"My daughter and I drove from Tyler to eat at The Grape. I ordered the "breakfast on a bun" thinking it would be some different than Whataburger's but found out it was just a larger version of theirs. Definitely nothing special. The eggs were overcooked and it tasted like it had been sitting for sometime before we got it. The chile sauce tasted just like Taco Bell's. My daughter ordered the chicken biscuit. It was dry and also seemed to have been sitting some time before being brought to our table. We were both quite dissappointed with the food and our waitress. There was a large group right next to us and she was preoccupied with them to our detriment. I definitely would not recommend The Grape for brunch to anyone."

"awesome...we are now infatuated with the hamburger. Meat was perfect - succulent and flavorfull. Vegies for burgers were fresh and flavorful. Cheese and dressing were a great compliment. The fries are something to write home about too - perfect crispness with excellent seasoning. Mussles were great but I like old monk better.
