"The waitress was terrible! She took forvever to even approach the table and she talked down to us the entire time... I guess given that they automatically get a 15% tip means that they may treat you however they please. On top of it, the manager on duty was very rude and made us feel unwelcome when he spoke to us. After the appetizer we did end up canceling our food order and left immediatly. Will not return or recommend"

"I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal at Guppy's. I had one of the daily specials recommended by our server and it was delicious, a fish called margate that I had never tried before. I love the outside seating where they make a great effort to control the climate so it is pleasant almost year round! This is definitely a local gem!"

"We were out to celebrate my birthday, and couldn't be happier with Guppy's. We had a reservation and were seated promptly outdoors as requested. Service was prompt and friendly, and our server knew the menu well and was happy to share information. Everything from appetizer to dessert was delicious!"

"We eat at Guppy's regularly and highly recommend it to others. This particular evening, I was entertaining company, and we had a party of six. Everything was good, with one exception. I was surprised to only get 4 coconut shrimp on the appetizer; it use to 5! We ordered 2 of the appetizers and only got 8 shrimp total."

"Very nice place for dinner. Eclectic menu , good wine selection but a so-so craft beer selection. Great appetizers and we never felt rushed. Prices ranged for entrees in the $15 to $30 dollar range. So depending on your selections prices were very reasonable. Plate presentation was excellent and meal proportions did not leave us hungry. We were there on spring break so depending on the time of year you go you will need to make dinner reservations or be prepared to wait anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. And to finish off the meal get one of the desserts. They were spectacular. Service was excellent, one minor mistake but nothing that ruined our dinner experience."

"It was spring break so used open table to make a reservation. Had to book for the following evening at 9 pm as that was first available. We had 4 in our party. Table was ready on time. Food was really good. Had peach sangria made with moscato wine and it was delicious if you like sweet drinks which I do. We shared the fried banana cheese cake and it was excellent. I would definitely eat there again."

"I was disappointed in the handling of my OpenTable reservation during a recent visit. As a diabetic, I must carefully manage the timing of my meals and the ability to make a reservation was an important consideration in choosing this restaurant.
We arrived 10 minutes early, were given a pager and instructed to sit at the bar while our table was being prepared. Twenty-five minutes later we decided to check back with the hostess. Only then were we told that our table was still unavailable but we could sit outside if we needed to eat immediately. We accepted.
I should note that, once we got a table, the overall dining experience was good and the food was excellent. If only we had been given the option of sitting outside sooner …."

"15% tacked on gratuity for table of four is outside the norm in my view - usually see that on party of 6 or higher at most restaurants (I usually tip well above that, but not this time). Shortly after we arrived, one woman in my party had mayonnaise splattered on her while a table next to us was being cleared - not just a sprinkling but all down her back and leg. The bus staff was very apologetic and napkins were brought to clean up, but that was it. I would have thought the manager should have at least stopped by to express his or her regrets and offer some kind of restitution. Our waiter's very late apology as we were leaving didn't seem adequate or very sincere. We will try another restaurant next time."

"We have been to Guppy's several times in the past. We like to take friends there visiting us from out of town. That was the case this time. Unfortunately, the server we had was not very good. He failed to fill water glasses as people drank, the dish my wife ordered was prepared the way she requested but was overcooked, not something you would expect from a fairly expensive (for this area) restaurant. SInce we were with friends we were sitting afer the meal and just talking. The waiter wanted the table to turn over for more tips I assume so he pulled the napkin out from one of our friends elbows to indicate our time was up and we should leave. What an embaraassment! Might not take friends there again if this is how we're treated."

"Guppys was great as always. We come several times every year when we are down for spring training in the Clearwater area. The food is always well prepared, fresh, and very tasty. The service is terrific as well. Guppys is a tough ticket, so making a reservation at least a week In advance is recommended."

"The service started with a curt "we are out of Grouper," and didn't get better. We ask for some guidance on the choice between the chowder or the lobster bisque the waitress told us they were both tomato base and the lobster bisque would be thicker--no help. Ordered a soup, an appetizer, two small plate entries and a side--they all showed up at once, no timing to the meal. The soup was luke warm. We sent it back with no apologies from the waitress. (It did come back hot and tasted good, although when I see the word "chowder" I think of chunks of potatoes, seafood, etc., this "chowder was basically pureed.) The "angels on horseback included bacon with the smallest oysters I'd ever had. But they tasted good. The crab cake was ok (they all pal"

"Since I have lived here for the past six years, I have been to most of the local restaurants. Many are very good, but when I want the best, I return to Guppy's. One element that sets it apart is that everything on the menu is terrific! In other venues, the beef might be tasty, but the seafood dishes are just okay or vice versa. On this visit to Guppy's I had the beef ribs on creamy risotto. It was marvelous---I cannot wait to have it again. March is my birthday month so I was also offered a complimentary dessert; I selected flourless chocolate cake; it was superb! This is not just a neighborhood gem, it is the diamond of local eateries.,"

"Our waiter was great! He knew right when to be there. We ordered a bottle of wine from the daily special. It was not only wonderful, but a bargain at $22. Then we split a calamari appetizer. It was quite large and very good! Then we both had the coconut shrimp entree. We didn't receive the bread, but didn't miss it with the plentiful portions. I got 4 large butterfly shrimp on the small entree and my husband got 6 on the regular entree. The shrimp lacked flavor, but the sauce and coating pulled it through. Next time: wine and 2 orders of calamari!"
