"I had eaten here with a good friend while visiting Savannah. This was our best restaurant experience by far. We were seated downstairs in the "wine cellar", and Michael was a FANTASTIC and enthusiastic and knowledgeable server. I highly recommend!"

"We stop regularly in Savannah when traveling to Florida each year and had a hard time finding a place in Savannah that didn't seem like a tourist stop. We have succeeded with Circa that is a true local gem with an authentic french bistro quality and feel."

"We dined in the "basement" room, which is decorated sort of like a French shrine under a cathedral. It was cozy and quiet. The food was nice bistro fare: salads, roast chicken, cassoulet. Portions are large, so consider sharing."

"was expecting better, fish dish was ok but nothing outstanding, wife had the prime rib french dip, she did not care for at all, have a degree in hotel and restaurant management, have worked in a couple of 5 star restaurants and eat out a lot, must say i would not choose this one again, have eaten at a lot of chain restaurants that had a lot better food for much less than this one charges, read several reviews before picking this restaurant and a lot of people loved it, so it may be just an off night or our choice of menu items, the following night we dined at the pink house and it was a much better experience and was similar price range."

"What a gem! From the wine and appetizer, to the exquisite meal, to the desert, this was an overall spectacular dining experience. The service was top notch, the flavors outstanding, and the ambiance perfect for a special night. I would highly recommend Circa 1875."

"If you are looking for an authentic French restaurant, this is not it. The owner is not French, nor is the chef. Our cassoulet was mushy and lacked flavor. Our waitress tried to be accommodating, but clearly she had no familiarity with French cooking either. All in all, a pricey and disappointing meal."

"THis restaurant impressed me with his its historic ambiance. ALthough I had requested the wine cellar, as I had read it was quieter and nicer, the main dining area was suitable. They do not serve in the wine cellar during the week, only Friday and Saturday nights. I think that should be mentioned on their website. As for the food; the menu is very limited in choices (like 6 or 7entrees), but it is a bistro.I had the steak, which was very good, and the truffle fries were addicting. My husband had the burger, which was smothered in a peppercorn sauce, something you'd find on a great steak. He also enjoyed the escargot in garlic. Bread was awesome. With chardonnay ($36)bill came to $120 with tax/tip. Pricey, but good."

"What a nice time we had. Nana and Papa took our 17 yo, vegitarian grand daughter out for a treat and we were well accommodated. Enjoyed the atmosphere and was taken back to pleasant Paris dinning experiences. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly, adding to our good time. Thanks for the pleasant experience."

"Fantastic service and a very pleasant dining room. The menu is old-fashioned French standards, like Coquille St. Jacques, which are hard to find. The appetizer special was Steak Tartare and it was really outstanding. Wine list is limited. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal."

"Service was bumpy. After getting assurances from our server that we could "order any way you want" - we had some trouble with ordering three apps, one at a time, to be split. They came right on top of each other. And prior plates were not cleared from our cozy (small) table. We spoke up - when the 3rd app, a soup, was delivered when the 2nd one was still on the table (not sure where they thought they could put down the new one, since 100% of the table was covered). Got lots of appologies, and a too long break to the last app. No financial compensation (there was a great opportunity for them to comp us a glass of wine, which they elected not to do - maybe the "Long pour" was 2 glasses for the price of one.....). Food is good."

"The food was very good at Circa. I'm not a french cuisine connoisseur, but everything we had was great. If you want a more private setting request a table in the wine cellar. You won't have the view onto the street, but it's much quieter and a more intimate setting. There's a booth right next to their wine closet that is tucked out of the way of the other tables. Everything our server recommended and advised about was spot on. There was a bit of a lag time in getting our drinks refilled, but it didn't impact our dinner."

"Two gents at Savannah Wine Cellar (12 Oaks Shopping Center, Mike and Dan ?) recommended Circa 1875, and they were spot-on. Circa 1875 delivered on promise of great food and solid list of wines to accompany. The restaurant is eclectic, tastefully decorated by obvious Francophile. Restaurant is adjacent to bar/bistro that could do me in were I alone. Fortunately my wife and daughter ensured great food were paired with libations. Steak frites is not my typical go-to, but having enjoyed seafood night prior, I ordered and was rewarded; NY Strip was never so tender and juicy, frites as good as in Belgium. Cheese plate culmination was superb. Our waitress was fantastic - a rare professional."

"The service was stellar. Attentive but not hovering. They accommodated our seating request without missing a beat. The dining room and bar had a french bistro vibe, the wine cellar was quiet and a great place for a romantic meal. The staff made us feel like we we frequent and appreciated guests. Even on a busy spring night they were more interested in making sure we were taken care of than flipping the table. Will absolutely return."

"The food, service and ambience was remarkable but, as important that evening, was how accommodating the staff were. We could only get a 6 p.m. sitting & had a 7 p.m. show with some distance between the two events. The staff understood our time restriction & made sure our orders were served promptly and the bill processed quickly. Although it was a rush for them, their efficiency made for a relaxing dinner for us. Great food, great service & a great evening."

"Ambiance very nice. We sat in wine cellar. Food was overcooked and dry for most part. Building is lovely and in great location. Could not recommend for dinner as our food was not at all up to the standard we were expecting from what we read about it beforehand. Do go to the Paris Market Next door though... Now there is a gem!"

"Server, Micheael, was very attentive and he was helpful in selecting items. Cocktails before dinner were well made and generous. Appetizer of mussels and deserts of crepes suzette and creme brulee were quite good. Entrees of veal and papillote flounder were less exciting. Recommend dining in the Wine Cellar since upstairs was crowded and noisy."

"We had such a nice time as our waitress was so accommodating and the food delicious. She let me try a taste of rose and I went back to my chardonnay! We did not want to overeat so we split a pâté de ompagne and each had a salad. The bread along with everything else is homemade and wonderful. We could have been in France. Their list of wines by the glass is excellent. We were delighted with this restaurant."

"Only recommended dish was a chicken livers appetizers. Beet salad starter served as an arugula salad on a bed of thinly sliced beets. Presentation left usual punch added by beets underwhelming. Party of 2 each ordered steak frites and found the steak inconsistently cooked with minimal seasoning to highlight the supposed grass-fed beef. I spent more time sawing through the beef than enjoying it as I ate. Orders followed from hearty recommendation from server. Just not a good meal for the money unfortunately. No reason to go back."

"Great location; quiet, romantic atmosphere; warm and welcoming service; but totally forgettable food. It's "fine"...nothing more, nothing less. You won't go home hungry, but you probably won't be raving the next day about your dinner either. It's the sort of "French" restaurant where "steak frites" means an unsliced NY Strip with a pat of butter on top beside some fries, and the profiteroles come drowned in hot fudge with strawberries and pecans. It wasn't an awful meal but, with some restraint and attention to detail, it could have been a lot better."

"Charming bistro in Savannah. We went in through the bar, which was so cozy that we almost decided to eat dinner there instead. We kept our reservation on the restaurant side and had a lovely, lingering dinner of cassoulet, french fries, and ratatouille. I appreciated the low noise level and being able to carry a conversation with my boyfriend, which is not the case in some restaurants. Would definitely return."

"Circa 1875 is a Savannah institution and is in the heart of Savannah's oldtime restaurants, right near the riverfront. The decor and ambiance reflect its longtime existence providing good French food to residents and visitors alike. One can imagine this is how a French restaurant might have looked in 1875 -- comfortable, a bit worn, dim lighting, French posters on the wall. The service was very professional and competent. Just two waitresses were able to cover all the tables on the main floor with minimum delay. The food was very good if not outstanding. All in all, it was a pleasant experience."

"Circa 1875 is a gem of a restaurant. We had already made our reservation through Open Table as a part of a planned trip to Savannah when we happened to mention our palns to neighbors. They told us of their experience at Circa 1875 and heightened our anticipation of our dining experience. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation but were ushered to our table without delay. The ambience was exceptional; the food excellent; and the staff attentive, friendly and humorous without being overzealous. We recommend highly."

"We enjoyed our dinner at Circa 1875. Our table was ready as promised when we arrived. The staff was knowledgeable and gave excellent service without hovering. The food was good. My date had the salmon and I had the braised lamb shank. I thought the sauce in the lamb gave it an unexpected sweet taste which I enjoyed. We both loved the soup special (lobster bisque). We both would go there again. One note is that the menu selections are esoteric and limited. This was not a problem, merely an observation."
