Founded in 2006, Luce has become a local favorite featuring many traditional dishes. Flavors which often bring our guests back to their best memories of Italian specialties.
My goal for this restaurant to create a warm environment for all guests that is typical of a true Italian heritage.
Our menu consists of many Buonincontri family recipes and recipes brought back from travel to Italy.
Fresh fish, meats and produce expound throughout Luce's offerings and a focus on the finest ingredients are what make Luce special.
House made Gnocchi, Italian rice balls and homemade Mozzarella are just a few examples our passion for the finest Italian food.The word Enoteca means wine library. The walls of the entire restaurant are covered with wine bottles as you would expect books to cover the walls of a library. Wine is a very important part of an experience at Luce, with over 125 choices from our wine list available to you.

"Very good Italian food. We were disappointed in our service and the owner/chef came out and addressed the issue. I think they are gaining poplularity and the team wasn't quite ready to handle the crowd. That problem is easy to fix and you will be pleased with the food, wine and setting. I ordered an off the menu vegetable risotto and the chef welcomed the challenge and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"the food was great, the service at the table was great, but the service at the bar was terrible. The bartender did her best, but she was absolutely overwhelmed with the bar and tables - only one bartender. Hope they re-think that! Other than that, no complaint, and I will definitely return!"

"When I am in San Antonio for business, and need a break from steak, bbq and Tex-Mex, I head to Luce's for a good glass of wine and the kind of menu I have to read several times because it's hard to choose. I often make a meal of a salad and an app or two, and this doesn't faze the staff. Very relaxed and pleasant, with good quality and attention to both taste and presentation."

"Amazing food- unlike most moderately expensive places, Luce Ristorante is absolutely worth the price tag. We had the lobster ravioli and lamb with gniocci dishes, and both were exquisite. This a great romantic spot for a nice candle-lit dinner, especially if you get to sit under the outdoor gazebo. Might not be as great for a group or for small children, but anyone looking for a night out with a loved one should go."

"OK folks..this is the real deal. Luce's has done it right. First time here....will be back soon, and again and again. No one was disappointed at our table, but I'll give you some must have's. I'm an old New Yorker..don't see Arancini Di Riso frequently...Please try these golden rice balls in meat sauce..I've always had them with marinara....our awesome server brought both...loved them with the meat sauce. Gnocchi Bolognese...to die for...I make gnocchi at home....great texture..delicious sauce...you have to try this. The Caprese salad was soooo fresh.... so tasty.
Had the canoli..good, but not as it should be. Very creamy..very good...but not a real canoli..best canoli so far...46th street pizza in Bulverde...yeah Bulverde??"

"I can't tell you how special it feels to have the owner of the resturant open the door, welcome you to his resturant by name,and seat you at"your table,"but that is the experience you will get at Luce.I tried a different dish this time...the Veal Piccata...it was extordinary!The lemon added just the right about of brightness to the dish,but yet tasted distinctive and rich.I had the Pasta Fagioli that I hadn't tried before.I couldn't believe how fresh the broth tasted...I could see fresh tomotoes in the soup as well.This is also the only resturant that I will order taramisu from because all others pale in comparason to theirs.My friend got a biscotti with his espresso; next time I will just order a whole plate of those!They are the best!"

"We went to Luce for my, my husband's, my daughter's, and my sister-in-law's birthday celebration. This mod Italian restaurant was quiet with decent background music and perfect for a celebration where we could talk to each other without yelling. The servers were great, and the atmosphere was chic but not uncomfortably mod for us. And the food was amazing! This ain't your Olive Garden Italian. Homemade cannoli and THREE kinds of homemade gnocchi! I'll be going agin for every birthday! :)"

"For Italian food in San Antonio this is about the best I have found. The hand made gnocchi were incredible, great salads, and the Oso Buco was top notch. the wine list is mostly Italian, but the chef's recommendations satisfied our lack of knowledge about Italian wines. Highly recommend this restaurant for great food, good service."

"A review in the Taste section of the Express News prompted us to have dinner there for a birthday celebration.the enoteca (wine library) is indeed impressive, making a pleasing decor.The vongole & rice ball appetizers were tasty, but the much-raved-about scallop entree was way too salty & the osso buco was heavy on the tomato. Our server was attentive until the bill was paid, & then she disappeared--we weren't offered even a water refill & we had to literally go find someone to take a picture. I was a little disappointed."

"Absolutely loved it! Owner came and talked with each table and personally welcomed us to his restaurant. We were visiting the area and found Luce on Open Table. The rice balls are to die for! We ordered appetizers, salad, and dessert, which we split then each ordered an entree. More than enough food and everything was delicious - will definitely come back next time we are in the area!"

"I read a review on the local paper's Web site and decided to give it a try. We started off with the polpette, arancini and carpaccio. The polpette were really good; two large meatballs in marinara sauce. The secret of the arancini is a piece of mozzarella in the middle of the very good fried risotto balls served with a bolognese sauce. The carpaccio was nothing special. Suffice to say, we over-ordered in the antipasti department (there were two of us), so that left us to split a main. Our choice of the scallops was perfect. Three large pan seared diver scallops served on a bed of spinach with a stuffed artichoke. The dish was outstanding, save for a bit salty spinach.
We will return for lamb chops and ossobuco. Highly recommend."
