"I went here for lunch with my family after my commissioning ceremony. I felt like they were doing a lot to accommodate our large party size. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and the JG Domestic burger was exceptional (especially with that egg on top...mmmmmm). I didn't like the flat bread snacks as much, but they were still decent. The fish and chips (which a lot of my family members ordered) were pretty stellar also. I loved the decoration and layout of the restaurant itself. Very cool. They had a good bar too which I might have been inclined to patronize more had I not been with the fam :) Would definitely recommend to others."

"I've been to JG Domestic 3 times previously. The food was at expected levels--esp the flatbread. We were sitting at the bar--the service was poor. It wasn't that crowded, but our server took a very long time--almost as if we were an imposition. The pour on the bourbons was pathetic. First of all, putting bourbon or other good whiskey (and JG has a very deep selection) in prissy little snifters is a horrible affectation. I don't care what drink consultant they brought in--that's no way to have a decent straight whiskey. Second, the amount? For $12 to $19 dollars a glass you should not have essentially a glorified thimble-full. I brought this up to the bartender. He looked at me like I had two heads. Maybe next time."

"I did like the food, specially the appetizers were great. However, I think that the options were limited and not too many healthy options besides salads to choose from. It 'd be nice to see a veggie burger added to the menu"

"Service was terrible. Bread came out frozen, was taken back, and came back still partially frozen. No options for kids. Food was delicious but very small portions for what you pay."

"Went to JG Domestic for a relaxing dinner after getting off an Amtrak train (it sits on the first floor of the building in between 30th Street Station and the Amtrak parking garage). Had an incredible meal from beginning to end. We had the deviled eggs as an app. We had the scallops and lamb chops "from the grill." We split the roasted beet salad and parsnip agnolotti as our sides. Everything was absolutely outstanding. The beer menu is a little lacking - but they had a couple of nice wines to pick from. The service was outstanding - the server was very attentive and informative. The atmosphere is fun and slightly different (open) and makes for a great dining experience. I would highly, highly recommend JG Domestic."

"I would not recommend the Domestic BBQ Cobb salad from the lunch menu. The salad was very small, included just a tiny amount of chicken, and was mediocre at best."

"Overall, the food was outstanding. Everything was fresh, tasted great. The service staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. All questions about the food and drinks were handled very well. The only issue was that we were near the front of the restaurant towards the front door. A little bit more lighting would have been nice. Would highly recommend the restaurant to people."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants. It would be our favorite if it was closer to where we live. It is our favorite for the food quality. The service is friendly and the management is top notch! I am a big fan of Iron Chef Garces, and his food never disappoints!"

"Garces at his best. He changes the menu periodically and I have yet to find a bad or mediocre food item. You cannot go wrong here. We did the chef's tasting menu - just make to come with an empty stomach since it's so filling. Our dinner was amazing."

"We tried the shrimp & grits. The menu doesn't say that it contains chorizo sausage, so if you're avoiding meat on Fridays, avoid this dish. Otherwise, I recommend it, although a little more grits wouldn't be amiss.
The wait staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Makes it a pleasure to dine there at any hour, either at the bar or in the dining room."

"My third visit to the restaurant after biz lunches and dinners there previously. The menu seems spare and overly precious, and dishes were disappointing. small plates are truly small and very pricey- e.g. only 3 cheeses available, with servings reduced to 1/4"-1/2" slivers, the "hams" were minuscule. Each morsel tasty but barely there. Luna salad was fresh but bland and watery. Takes the waiter longer to describe the ingredients than it does to eat them. We asked one waiter to tap down the music slightly because we couldn't hear the other waiter's recitation and he told the other to talk louder instead. Someone's not minding the store and is on autopilot. Garces' Distrito is a better choice in W. Phila."

"Next to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station (Amtrak terminal,) this was a perfectly-placed venue for our Flower Show-bound group of six, that arrived by train at 12:10pm, and walked across the air-bridge to our waiting reservation at 12:15pm. Half of us ordered the micro-brew beers and also the Tuesday blue plate special of fried chicken on spiced cabbage with mashed potatoes, for $12.50. Other a la carte offerings were reasonably-priced. The short-rib panini was raved about. Only minus was that the mashed potatoes lacked body & seemed from "a box." (Please say it isn't so!...while also conjuring up a new recipe. This is an easy fix.)"

"Overall it was nice. Meat was the perfect temp, however our veggie sides came out 3-5 minutes after meat and the carrots were not cooked all the way. So by the time I was eating the complete meal my meat was getting cold. Service was good, however I had to ask for the check after just sitting for minutes on end. First pork chop I have ever ordered out, I know crazy, and it was so delicious. Brussels sprouts and beet salad were amazing. Wish we could have been seated in the front part to see the neat decorations, however we got sat in the very back by the kitchen. We walked by 20 empty tables. So even after a very good meal, I would not recommend to people, price is over the top really."

"JG Domestic proved to be the perfect respite after a difficult work week. I arrived before my reservation and was seated immediately . The large trees potted in oak barrels, window planters full of succulents, and beautiful wood finishes everywhere, felt relaxing and modern. The special house cocktails were delicious! The farm fresh food was plated meticulously. I would go back for the beet salad alone! Chic but not at all fussy, JGD is an urban oasis !"

"We had a great experience at JG Domestic. The food was great, as was this atmosphere and decor. The only downer of the lunch goes along with what other people said-our second course came out entirely too fast. We were not done with our first course, so the food runner had to stand their with our hot food until the server cleared our starters. We then had to wait for new silverware and sharing plates. Other than that, we had a great time!"

"Thursday 7:00 pm reservations, was seated immediately, and despite being fairly busy, there was never a wait for anything. As at any Garces place, the flatbread was great, as was the eggplant hummus and the parsnip agnolotti. The service, led by Karye, was friendly, informed, and spot on, as, in response to my questions, she suggested a merlot not on the menu.
My companion had been here before and recommended it to me, and now I pass that recommendation to you."

"The wood oven flatbread was the best part of the entire meal and the complimentary parker house rolls that came with the meal. We ordered the proscuitto picante and humboldt fog for appetizers with the JG waldorf salad. The salad was not the best...it was a deconstructed and unique take on the waldorf salad. Very vinegary and that flavorful. Definitely not what I expected from a waldorf salad. For the main course we ordered the scallops and the pork chops. Both were excellent. The pork chops were good, but I could have used a sweet sauce to cut the salty/savory taste of the pork chops. Plus, the first pork chop we got was still raw and we had to send it back. The scallops were perfect. The star of the meal: russet potatoes. AMAZING!"

"I liked our visit, although I expected better. I've eaten at most of JG's restaurants, and my response is usually the same. It's quite good, but I expected it to be really special. JGD is meant to appeal to "locavores" (JG's farm is featured as a food source), but what "domestic" really means "from the US". This includes the wine selection (a disappointment a French/Spanish wine snob). Even so, the table really enjoyed the Pinot Noir from out west. Our waiter and servers were terrific and knowledgeable. One drawback is parking. My party of 8 came from four directions, so that added $100 to the dinner tab. Maybe that was why the restaurant was half empty."

"It was Valentines Day so my review is probably skewed. However, I've never had food served so quickly and have the staff rush you. There were literally 6 plates on our tiny table at once. The food was not bad but for the price I expected better. I was slightly surprised as I love all his other restaurants. I am chalking it up to the rush of Valentines Day. I will definitely not hike up to 30th St to eat again when his other restaurants are closer. I would suggest others do the same"

"The food was only OK. We like JG's restaurants and had been to JG Domestic before and liked the food very much so we decided to repeat the experience. This time there was a set menu for Valentine's day, and maybe that was the problem. Above all, we had a horrible experience with the host. I had made a reservation for 2, there were a lot of empty tables but he suggested a table at the very back room. I requested a table in the front and he was reluctant to give one to us. I insisted and finally he agreed. I hope it was not discrimination against women couples. FYI - there were still two or three empty tables by the time we left the restaurant. I am not planning to go back to JG Domestic."

"Food was good and out of ordinary which I like. But we were visiting Philly for the weekend so not familiar with the city at all, I didn't realize by looking at the address or even the website that this is located in some kind of convention center, pretty far from everything else. Probably great for business lunch ot dinner, but not what I was looking for for a night out with friends. Also not a fan of the cocktail list - this is clearly geared towards male clients (no fruity drinks for the ladies, good wines though). That said, the beignets that everyone raves about were delicious ;-)"
