"Manhattan quality dining right here in New Brunswick. Every aspect of the operation is top-notch and we left the restaurant not only completely satisfied, but raving about the food and experience. It is very rare that I take the time to write a review, but this establishment is too good for me to let this opportunity pass. My wife and I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or when you are simply in the mood for a dining experience that sets new standards of excellence."

"This place was perfect for an important business lunch...room was quiet, three course lunch menu was perfect (crab salad, golden beet risotto and a 2 cheese, cheese for dessert) and the service was excellent! "This was a great all around evening. We started with a small plate cheese selection that was excellent. We split a salad and pasta both of which were very well prepared. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. I had the Bronzino. It was moist, tender and flavorful. My wife had the scallops. She enjoyed them very much. The check was less than I expected. This is the best restaurant in New Brunswick bar none. I'm looking forward to my next meal there."

"I work in the restaurant business in NYC and I was very impressed with Due Mari. I hate prix fixe menus for holidays but their Mother's Day menu was terrific. Plenty of good choices and portions were plenty. Food really top notch and the service was friendly and unobtrusive. Really great dining experience will definitely go back!"

"I was taken aback by the wine by the glass list. Granted, I am not an expert, but I have ordered wines for years and feel reasonably comfortable doing so. I only recognized one wine on the list, a pinot noir - and the server wasn't any help in this regard. Also, the wines by the glass were very expensive even compared with pricing at other higher priced restaurants in the area.
The server didn't seem to like our ordering without using the pretentious Italian designation - this was a change from previous visits, as the decor and the menu had been redone.
Even with the negatives and the fact that we were placed at a table where 2 of us were just staring at a blank white wall, I would go back because the food is absolutely wonderful."

"We attended this restaurant as a group of 6 people to celebrate a birthday on a Friday night. The service was excellent and staff was very friendly. We selected the pri-fixe menu, which ran $55/person and included an appetizer, entree, and dessert. All 3 courses I chose (calamari, salmon, chocolate cake w/coffee ice cream) were flavorful and well cooked. There were a variety of cocktails to choose from as well as, an extensive wine and beer list. The dress attire was business casual and the atmosphere was energetic but quiet enough to hold a conversation with the person across from the table."

"My husband and I went to Due Mari for the first time for Valentine's Day this year (2013). We fell in love with it. The ambiance was rich and warm, and the food was amazing. Two months later, when we had the opportunity to go out to dinner again, we immediately chose Due Mari. Unfortunately, within that two months they have completely renovated the entire restaurant and removed all of the beauty that once existed. It is now flat, gray and white with no real depth to it. The menu was revamped as well, and frankly the food was not as good and was quite expensive for what you get. Overall it was an okay meal, but we will likely chose another restaurant the next time we go out to dinner."

"The food was very good. Have been there before and noticed and liked the decor changes/remodeling. It seemed brighter and more modern. I feel like our server could have been a little more knowledgeable about the menu, but in his defense, he did always go ask and get back to us. The wine list is good. The service has the right idea,friendly and energetic, but always seems to lack a little coordination between the team members. "I was quite impressed with the level of service received at Due Mari. My friend and I had not seen each other in a while so we were spending time catching up. The waiter noticed we were holding onto our menus and asked if we wanted to wait before reviewing them and ordering. He took our menus away and left us feeling relaxed with no pressure to order our meals. We spent three hours at Du Mari. Our meals were excellent and so was the wine. It was a wonderful evening!"

"I had the prix fixe ($18) lunch at Due Mari on Monday. It was my first time here - and I'll be back the next time I visit my sister in NJ. The food was delicious - eggplant rolatini to start, veal meatballs next. Boy was I happily surprised by the freshness of the food. Just-chopped basil and mozzarella adorned the rollatini, which made me very happy (and tasted great, to boot). Don't miss this place, because whomever's cooking in the kitchen knows his/her stuff. What a gem!!"

"The food and service are always excellent. Excellent pasta made in house. The waiters know the menus well and are excellent advisors, although some try to be fancy in their manner of speaking, which is silly. Maybe some people like that. Meals are all served at the same time, as they should be but often are not, in other places. Every meal is always excellent. It is not too noisy, so conversations are possible. We would go there very frequently if it weren't as pricey as it is. My only complaint other than the prices is that the espresso was the smallest I have ever had."

"We are never disappointed at Due Mari. Other Thsnks the fact that my favorite Montepulciano was de-listed from the wine menu, a very satisfactory Sangiovese was available.I am always torn between the fork-tender short rib and the roast chicken. I opted for the rib and it was delightful. My wife had the spaghetti with lobster and enjoyed it enormously."

"a bit disappointing. We've been to this restaurant before, and my daughter had heard great reviews from friends so we were anxious to return. Much to our disappointment, we were seated in the bar area just next to a bamboo room divider. Behind the divider about 15 girls celebrating a 15th Birthday!! Not the quiet enjoyable evening we were expecting. In addition, instead of a nice view of the Albany Street/Nielson Street hustle and bustle on a Friday Night in New Brunswick, we had a view of the bamboo divider. Food and service were very good, but the experience overall was a bit disappointing."

"Enjoyed the food on our first visit here, but our waiter forgot us. We ordered cocktails, split an appetizer and ordered the drinks that we wanted with our meals along with our food selection. Our meals were served (by someone else)but we were left with nothing to drink! We were half way done with dinner when the waiter "resurfaced". I saw him look at our table, then immediately go back to the bar area. He brought the wrong craft beer for my husband along with the glass of house Chardonnay I asked for. My husband was not so upset with the brand he gave him and my wine was fine, but I was shocked when we got the bill - my glass of house wine was $21! It won't stop us from going back but was not happy with our waiter at all!"

"Due Mari's food is fresh and very good. Portions are small. On the night we were there, service was an issue. The waiter was very good but relied on his assistant to take most of the load. She was not up to the challenge. She was not attentive nor knowledgeable about the food or wines. It appeared that the next table had the same issue as they were more vocal than we were, as in they had to call across the restaurant for their waiter.
Due Mari is in the very competitive New Brunswick marketplace. You may remember good food but you always remember poor service. We will come back but another night of poor service and we'll exercise our options."

"really upped their game - haven't been there for a while because it had lost it's appeal. The menu was all over the place and too many disappointing meals mixed with good dishes. EVERYTHING was delicious this time though. One person in our party is a foodie, one a vegetarian and two just hungry souls that enjoy good food. We all left happy and anxious to meet there again. (The women are college roommates and Due Mari is the halfway point from our homes. We meet about 3-4 times a year). Too bad I can't recall our server's name - she was everything a server should be - knowledgable about food and wine!"

"We have found our new favorite restaurant!! From the moment we walked through the door the service was welcoming and helpful. The staff is well trained, helpful, and friendly. The food was excellent: cooked perfectly, presented beautifully, and delicious. This was the best meal in this area that we have eaten in a long time. The hostess, our two waiters, and the manager all made this a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely go back!"

"We went to Due Mari with two other couples for dinner. Even though we had high expectations for the food,it didn't meet unless we lowered the bar.The entrees were mediocre at the best.Except the gnocchi and agnolotti(special of the day),everything else was subpar. I had ordered the squid ink linguini thinking that it would made be with black ink sauce (which I've had in Venice),rather when the dish was presented I realized that the linguini is made with squid ink and not the sauce itself. It was a massive disappointment. On hindsight, I should have pored over the menu and foreseen it.My wife ordered organic chicken & she felt it was too heavy for dinner.On a good note,the desserts(tiramisu/creme brulee) were really good & all of us loved it"

"I have been to Due Mari many times for lunch as I work in the area but this was only my second time there for dinner. It was delicious. The service was outstanding and the food was superb. My sister had the papardelle with bolognese, which is one of my favorites, and I had one of the specials for the evening, filet mignon with shrimp. Both were delicious. The wine that our server recommended was fantastic also."
