The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.
The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.
The restaurant is family owned and operated since 1975. Since 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.
"Very good overall experience(party of 5). We had Mother's Day dinner and throughly enjoyed the set menu. Everyone one was pleased with the 5 course selections, something for everyone. Only problem booking online was not receiving a response at time of booking as to the accessibility of the restaurant. On arrival it was a bit challenging to get my 84 year old mother up the stairs into the restaurant."

"I chose the Old Surrey House restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my mother and son. Ihave dined ere several times before and always enjoy the food, excellent service and ambience. We all chose to go with the Spring special menu which is an excellent value with choices that appealed to everyone in our party. It did not disappoint!"

"Restaurant was busy on Sunday nite likely due to their $36 Prix Fixe Spring menu. We opted for a la carte-I chose the Qualicum Bay Scallops which were cooked perfectly and presented in a Sambuca cream. My main was the delicious poached halibut filet - moist, delicate & flavourful! The only negative is the potato croquettes, broccoli and carrots that are always the same - it's time for a creative change on the vegetable component! Dessert was white and dark chocolate pâté that was creatively presented and had a smooth, velvety taste, not at all a heavy dessert so accompanied by a black coffee, made a perfect ending! Old Surrey Restaurant is a classic dining establishment, an area favourite for me!"

"outstanding food, impeccable service....truly you can't go wrong here. Only eyebrow raiser is the fact that so many locals think that showing up in jeans and men wearing hats indoors is at all acceptable."

"Every time I go to Old Surrey Restaurant I am excited to go, and they never disappoint. I/We always have a great experience. The staff is prompt and very well mannered. This is definitely a classy spot. The food is fantastic and a number of menu items are prepared tableside, which is rather unique. Great for a special occasion or just a nice evening out. I hope this restaurant stays in business for a long time because I definitely plan to return there again!"

"This is our favorite local fine dining establishment . Service is always good, food is great and it is quiet enough that we old folks can actually hear each other and don't have to rely on our lips reading skills. They have a very reasonably price menu and again, I must mention the quality of the food.....fabulous!"

"We have the winter special 3 course meal. The soup was bland and I really don't know why it had croutons in the soup. The croutons were in so long that it had gone soggy to the point of breaking up. The main was a pepper steak. The steak was cooked perfectly but all the vegetables were overlooked and soft. Then the crepe suette was drowning in the syrup. I like my crepe a little chewy but the sauce made it like a wet noodle. The server didn't even offer us coffee."

"Old Surrey Restaurant is so good. The food and the service with a show (you have to order at least one dish that is prepared at your table whether it be a drink or an entree or the crepes... it is worth it) is just great."

"Surprisingly Great find in Surrey, Great Food, Great Ambience, Noise a bit too overbearing - with the 911 responder klaxons drowning out conversation from time to time but a great overall experience and value for money"

"The Old Surrey has become the place we choose when a very special meal is desired. My husband and I have celebrated our 10th,20th, and 30th Annivesary's with you folks, and last year my husbands 60th Birthday. On February 23rd, we celebrated his 61st.
The food is a celebration of flavors designed to temp and savor. The service is friendly and intuitive, just the right combination. The embiance is quaint and old world elegant.
Our plan is to enjoy coming to visit more frequently in the future.
Thank you for the wonderful dining experiences we have enjoyed so far, and we look forward to the next.
Yours Truly
Jan Day and Michael Knight"

"Fabulous! Have now found my replacement for the now gone - William Tell and The Mansion - both my previous favorites. Brought my Aunt and Uncle this time and they loved their dinner. I had the great Scallop appetizer and wished it was a whole meal. Chataubriand was perfectly (blue) done. Great assortment of vegetables. We all had a delightful time and can hardly wait to return. Keep up the great work."

"We have been to this place a number of times (5) and have enjoyed it as a "fancy" nite for two. It may not be a high-end posh establishment but it sure does not deserve Shorts, T-Shirts and guys wearing grubby baseball hats, nor not taking the hat off either. The staff are not your average fair, they have learned when to be there and when to be invisible. I rated my visit this time as good because they are dealing with the world and I noticed that portions have become a bit smaller. Also good was the service as we had a newer girl and a bit short on knowing the above way of being there. In the past it has been much better. I will not hesitate to return as overall, it is a very nice place to dine at."

"Valentine's Day dinner a few days late. Saturday night and the place was full for 7:00, however the layout lends to a nice quiet and romantic atmosphere. Very good selection of wines, including lots of good B.C. products. She had the shrimp bisque and beef tenderloin and loved them. I started with the prawns with lamb and lamb sausage for the main. All were perfect. Service was very good for a busy evening. Attentive but unobtrusive."

"We did not feel rushed and had a relaxing evening of fine dining. There are a number of small rooms in the restaurant which results in a pleasantly quiet dining experience where you can hear one another talk. I have visited this restaurant for a number of special occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. I am looking forward to checking out their new bistro with live music on Friday nights one evening soon. I would equate this restaurant to a fine dining restaurant in downtown Vancouver or WhIte Rock without the long drive for those living in the south of the fraser region."

"Went with a customer after reviewing eating options in the vicinity. Inside of resturant is decorated well with a very warm feeling. We both had the mahi mahi and it flopped big time. A very poor cut of the fish and the ginger fused salsa did not save it!"
