Located in the Chambers Grant Salon in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House serves pre-theater cocktails and dinner on evenings with performances in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Buell Theater and/or Boettcher Concert Hall.
Also, for private events, Kevin Taylor Catering serves all of the unique spaces within the Opera House. These include the new, sophisticated, exposed-brick 8,000 sq. ft. "I'd love to have dinner at the opera house before every perfomance I attend, but the food just isn't good enough to make me lock in a reservation before every opera. The flavors are muddled, the dishes aren't seasoned well enough and the presentation is less than exciting. This restaurant should be in high demand on opera nights and there were empty tables here. Since the location is unbeatable, it's clearly the food."

"Very over priced for the quality of food. We choose this place simply because it is within the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, therefore convenient. The food quality and the attendance has continually gone downhill. Large space, few guests. d
Kevin Taylor's is never very satisfactory, in my opinion in it's other locations.
Last Tuesday, the bar did not have any of our choices in Single Malt Scotch. Unlike the past. Unacceptable. They offered an obscure one, and it was OK. Only.
Food was not hot. One guest ordered scallops which had a fishy odor and went untouched."

"The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. I love the decor of this place. Even though you're technically in the basement of the opera house, nothing could feel and look further from a basement. The interior is beautiful, with rockwork on the walls, a grand staircase that takes you down to the restaurant, and a ceiling that looks like the night sky (black with tiny lights that look like stars). My date was impressed as well and that isn't easy to do since he has worked for different restaurants in town (so he's pickier about food, service, etc. than I am).
I would definitely eat here again!"

"Kevin Taylor's was wonderful. We were running late for our reservation but called to inform them. Everything from our drinks down to our main course was absolutely perfect. We had the Harris Ranch Beef Tartare along with salads and then both had the lamb for our main dish. Everything was presented so beautifully, service was excellent and the entire evening was better than we had expected. Even though we were late for our original dinner reservation we were still on time (early) for the Opera and I have to credit that to the restaurant and its wonderful staff. The restaurant was beautiful and very comfortable. We will come back again and again for sure!"

"Great dinner for 5280 week. Our only complaint is there were "premiums" or additional charges for certain foods. That isn't in the spirit of 5280 Denver week. We have been participants of 5280 since the start and this is a charge that is new to us. Otherwise the dinners were beyond reproach, wait staff just wonderful and total experience is good enough that we will be booking again during the theater season."

"Spectacular! From the ambiance to the dining experience it was great. Started with a recommendation from the hostess to try the pork belly appetizer and the pork entree and she was right on. The app was a bit dryer than expected but it went with the other flavors. The entree was moist and cooked perfectly. The Creme Brulee dessert was a good finish. Tried a couple wines and based on a good discussion with my server, I settled on a Clos du Bois Chardonney which was a nice pairing for the pork throughout."

I have been to Restaurant Kevin Taylor's and the service was superb, I was expecting the same here, but was disappointed. We had to wait a longer then we should have for someone to come say hello and get our drink orders and then we had to ask for refills, and ask more then once for bread. (I don't care what restaurant you are at; a one star or five star you should not have to ask for refills on tea)
So to conclude, the food was great the service was no better then eating at PF Changs (The restaurant was not completely full, so unless they were short staffed, there was no reason for this) I would go back for the food, not service."

"I was so excited to go to Kevin Taylors and I ended up very disappointed.Food was just average nothing to write home about. Food was luke warm at best and service was fair. Staff never asked if we liked are food if it was prepared correctly. Even if you want to complain it would not have mattered the staff was not available. Dessert time came they delivered and never offered coffee, after dinner drink nothing. Maybe they should not do 5280 if they aren't going to put their heart into it. We went to several places this year and this was by far not our favorite."

"Everything about this experience was disappointing. At the door there was a podium with no greeter and no sign to direct us, so we waited for a while then just tried a direction. We were seated at a table that was in the freezing wind tunnel from the upstairs door. The server took her time to greet us at the table. She only returned to bring our wine (which she did not serve correctly) and take our order and give us the check. The starter and entrees were over-cooked - my MR steak was MW. It felt more like we were at a wedding catered with mediocre food than fine dining. Dessert was very good though. I will not recommend this restaurant in the future."

"The ambiance of the restaurant was exquisite, and the service was impeccable. I thought the food was somewhat off balance however. My salad was barely dressed, and skimpy on the pretzel croutons, and Maytag crumbles. The portion of my Barramundi was considerably smaller than the New York strip my date had ordered, and the rice that came with the fish was horribly overcooked, and mushy; the brussel sprouts were wonderful, thankfully. Aside from that, it was a great dining experience. I look forward to trying Kevin Taylor’s again during a non 5280 restaurant week as I have heard nothing but great things about the restaurant."

"My husband and I have been to Kevin Taylor's restaurant many times and we were beyond disappointed with our recent experience. We waited for our table, then had to wait almost 20 minutes before a server even greeted us at our table. The server than mistook our water for cocktails and almost walked off until we asked him if we could have a beverage! Took another 20 minutes for our first course, followed by a 30 minute wait for our entree. The evening was capped off when the server told me the kitchen was out of the dessert I ordered two hours prior!! Food was average, room was freezing with cold air and service was horrible. Needless to say, we don't need to go back. Ever."

"This restaurant is just a notch below the splendid Restaurant Kevin Taylor, which is no criticism at all. The food and service are excellent...every bite, every moment I've had here has been very good to excellent. The large interior allows tables to be spread apart, so you don't feel crowded physically or audibly by other diners. The location also makes it easy to schedule your dinner around the symphony, opera or theater nearby."

"Kevin Taylor's At The Opera has the potential of being an amazing restaurant to dine at. The problem was not the food or the ambiance, the problem is the service. I understand I was there for 5280 Denver Restaurant Week and the servers do not particularly like it but that does not mean service should be lacking in anyway. You are in the business of serving, good or bad, put on a front. I would be more than happy to tip according to the amount of service I received. I will be back to try again on a normal night to see the difference in service. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience."

"We went for 5280 week and our bill was huge! They had a lot of supplement charges that they did not tell us about and we did not see them or understand them. I would not go back there. If they can't do dinner for 52.80 then they shouldn't do it at all."

"Many otherwise great restaurants fail to deliver their normal delicious fare during restaurant week. Kevin Taylor's does not. Why? Instead of adding a pre fixe meal to their normal menu and then mass producing it, they only have a pre fixe menu and remain focused on delivering the same creative flavors that keeps foodies coming back. From the pork belly and foie gras to perhaps the best lamb I've ever had, the food was incredible. Despite the crowd, the service was also attentive and undistracted. I can't wait to see what they can do on a normal less frantic evening."

"Sound of the worst service we have EVER had. Horrible! The food was good, however, nothing was explained or gone over. The server didn't even tell us her name nor did she really come around to check on us, fill water glasses or clear plates. Most of the time our glasses were empty. Never again!!!"

"we dined here during the 5280 week. The selection was limited and with cheaper versions of meals than other restaurants. The dishes were not prepared as described on the menu. We ordered the Romaine salad which was supposed to have candied walmuts. Instead we got a few whole Romaine leaves on a plate which we had to cut up ourselves with a dull butter knife and regular raw walnuts (not candied). The Sea Salt crusted New York Strip had no salt and absolutely no flavor. The brussel sprouts that were served with the fish were so burnt, they were unrecognizable. The dessert was supposed to be a Blue Berry Compote, Creme Fraiche whip with Lime sugar was actually just a dry blue berry muffin with only 2 berries, no Creme. A complete bust!"

"Although the food was generally amazing--I did have an unfortunate hard spot in my pork belly--the service was not what I was expecting from a Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group location. It took far too long for our server to finally greet our table and then it felt rushed. But, the worst part, was that they brought the wrong vintage of wine. Our server handled it well, but it was a big mistake and they only compensated by buying us coffees. We were looking at KTOH for our wedding reception venue but after our experience, we have some significant doubts."

"We had the best experience at Kevin Taylor and most of it was due to our waiter. He was the most attentive and kind person I have ever met! "We visited the restaurant during restaurant week so I am hesitant to be too critical of the food as it might not be representative of the regular menu quality. The restaurant was very pretty & the service was good. The food was OK. My husband enjoyed his pork belly appetizer, mashed potatoes and creme brûlée (just not the steak). My salmon dish felt heavy. I'm glad we were able to visit the restaurant, but it isn't high on our "must return" list."
