The Dutch is an American restaurant, bar and oyster room inspired by local cafes, country inns, corner taverns, neighborhood bistros, seaside shacks, roadside joints and the same mix of cultural influences that make New York City great. Award-winning Chef Andrew Carmellini's roots-inspired American menu features fresh fish and shellfish, choice meats, local produce and the best of what's around.
"The food wasn't our favorite but the service was wonderful. All the food had a twist. I had salmon with pastrami spices. It was Ok. Great oyster bar -"

"Althought the majority of the menu is contemporary, on Monday's they have fabulous friend chicken. Personally, I'm a vegetarian but two people in our party ordered it and said it was the best they ever had!"

"I had gone here once before and loved it. I was nervous to return, because often the second visit is a letdown, but not this time. The Dutch was just as good the second time as it was the first. Delicious food, good atmosphere. Eager to go back again sometime soon."

"My original plan was to find Dutch-influenced cuisine (taking a trip to Amsterdam), but the only thing Dutch related in this restaurant is the name. The experience though was a wonderful surprise. The food was truly exquisite, filled with interesting flavors & aromatically pleasing (I had the dorado). The service (which I don't particularly care about) was noticeably efficient & added fun to the dining experience. The quality of food, service & atmosphere is definitely worth the cost."

"Embarrassed to admit this was my first time. What's not to love about great oysters and pie? Great food. Impressive bourbon list. Solid craft beer options. Great ambience, with large, opened windows. Awesome experience all around."

"Great atmosphere, and super quick service---not too loud and no party scene. The food was AMAZING!! The cold lobster to start was the best I have ever tasted! And the French Fries...wow...I almost ate the tables plate next to us after scarfing our plate 30 seconds. Le oink. I had the Korean Hanger steak and it was perfect. My friend had the smoked ravioli's and they were fabulous. Wine was very yummy and nice hefty pours...no lame measuring! I am not a whisky fan, but I have never seen a huge selection! Overall, highly recommend and would suggest asking for a table in the main dining area that faces the street--in the evening if it is warm---all the large windows/doors are open giving it a wonderful atmosphere! Enjoy!"

"The oysters are a definite must especially with a glass of Gruner Vetliner. I also greatly enjoyed the Korean Style Hanger Steak. The pie (another item the restaurant is know for) was good but nothing to write home about....I tried the shoefly pie. We took our moms there for Mother's Day and it was a great place for a Special Occasion."

"Just one lunch, one dish, and I can't wait to go back. The best soft-shelled crab I've eaten anywhere. I don't usually like complicated preparations, but everything about this combination came together to compliment, not overwhelm, the principal ingredient, a perfectly tempura-ed crab."

"The bloodies are a over priced, but the oysters and fried chicken are some of the best in the city. The wrap windows make it bright, which is always a plus in NY."

"The food is very good and the hostess, waiter and bus staff efficient. On the other hand, confirming the reservation was unpleasant: rude; we were presented the check without being given a chance to order dessert/coffee or calling for it. Did they want our table which was booked for 1:00? Probably because the restaurant was packed to overflowing. We'll return but will probably wait until the "hot" dies down."

"Great wines, perfect temperature the whites… Ambience lively on a late Sunday evening, that’s something. The food, ok, they are always consistently good but nothing memorable. Only service could have been more attentive but the sommeliers were very nice."

"I had lunch here on a Tuesday. It was not busy when we sat down at 12:15 but busy by the time we left at 1:30PM. The good was very good. The tables were notably spacious for a downtown restaurant. Our entrees took a long time to come out, but I think that was just an anomaly. The service was very good.
This is a good choice for business lunch or lunch with a friend in Soho. I have not been in the evening."

"-Oysters were very good and well presented w/fresh horseradish etc. -Burger was good but not for the price. The special sauce was not our favorite - tasted a little cumin in it. So you might try it on the side. -The Fried Chicken was TO DIE FOR. Nice spices and not greasy - great quality meat. Served with cold slaw which was really good - not creamy and had a few pickled carrots and jalapenos - yum. Two little bitty homemade biscuits brushed with honey butter on top. -Great Bloody Mary - the pickle and olive needed to get a room though:). -Presentation and serving dishes were nice. **We will return to try some other items:)**"

"We enjoyed our early dinner at the Dutch--great bread to begin (especially the chewy sunflower), followed by Red Chicken and s delightful spice-coated salmon fillet atop a cabbage-bacon braise and a side of very crispy potatoes. Lovely service, too."

"This was my favorite restaurant in 4 days in New York with my 4 girlfriends celebrating our 50th birthdays. Don't miss it and my special thanks to the maitre de for his special service. As we were all women he sent over all the male waiters at least once to wait on us. It is a fun lively place but don't be fooled the food was great."

"I Initially made the reservation for 4 people at 6PM which was the only time available. When I was called to confirm, I requested a change to a party of 2 and for later time. I was told no but if I called after 6 that evening there might then be something available; which I did and I was told that they had something at 6:30, or not until 8:15 or 8:30. I took the 6:30 time slot. When we arrived, we were not seated in the Sullivan Room which was very disappointing. We were seated in the Oyster Room instead. We had a delicious meal with excellent service. However, we fininished at 8:30 and during that whole time, there were several tables for 2 open. Clearly, we could have been accommodated at 7 or 7:30 all along. Very Disappointin"

"I expected a lot from this restaurant and it delivered. The food was excellent. The dining area is larger than you think but it feels very warm and cozy. This could become a nice restaurant to become a regular patron at. You feel at home. Well, maybe the home of a doting aunt."
