The Lambs Club
At The Lambs Club, Chef Geoffrey Zakarian has created a relaxed and inviting restaurant serving updated bar & grill offerings. The main floor dining room is open breakfast, lunch and dinner whereas the mezzanine lounge comfortably accommodates daytime meetings or refined cocktails in the evening with large round banquettes and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto 44th Street. Located within The Chatwal Hotel, The Lambs Club provides room service for the 76 hotel rooms and oversees private dining in the various event spaces throughout the building. This landmark masterpiece was originally built and designed by Stanford White in 1905 and reopened after a major renovation and restoration with every detail overseen by architect Thierry Despont.

"We went because of positive feedback on OpenTable and were very disappointed. The $59.00 Dover Sole was overcooked. The waiter ignored us. He brought one dessert and forgot the other. I ordered a cocktail to start. Before it OR the first course came, he started pouring the first wine tasting that went with the main course.
And he had an attitude! It was WAY overpriced for the quality of the food. One would expect flavors that linger, instead of no flavor at all. Will not go back even though the decor was lovely."

"Professional service, excellent menu selection. The Jazz added to the ambiance. There are several areas that could be improved however. For one thing, a6 dollar cup of coffee with taste better if they clean the pot once in awhile.also, was overcharged from the menu price on dessert. Unfortunately did not discover the overcharge until after we left. Shame on us."

"As we approached, I realised we were entering theatre and tourist trap territory and feared the worst. However all my fears disappeared upon entering. Great ambience. Tons of atmosphere. Very noisy though, Americans seem to like that for some reason. Service was five star. The type of service where when you leave the table for a moment, they will fold your napkin so you may find it neatly folded upon return.
The food was outstanding, just great.
Recommended."

"One of the best dining experiences - three for lunch. The setting is beautiful -- elegant, spacious & inviting. I knew it would be wonderful from the feel of the leather on the chairs :) Our waiter was knowledgeable and explained the dishes in delectable detail. Two of us shared octopus salad, which was charred to perfection and was so tasty with a slightly hot sauce! Not chewy at all. One of us had Richard's soup, served at at the table in a wonderful presentation. He RAVED about it with every spoonful. I had the tuna burger special. Wow... like nothing I've ever had. It was perfectly garnished & had a lovely delicate sauce. One other person had the hangar steak also excellent, but the best was lobster salad. Delicious!"

"Our third time at this wonderful restaurant and every aspect was lovely again. We were seated at a romantic table, side by side, which made the experience even more special. The food, service, and ambience are consistently top notch at The Lambs Club and the music (30s, 40s soulful jazz/blues)... divine. The somelier was very pleasant and helpful to us in selecting wines by the glass. The only drawback for me is the location, so close to Times Square, but once you're inside, it makes no difference at all."

"Sunday brunch prices were quite reasonable. Forget the negative reviews. Our experience was wonderful and it's proximity to theatre can't be beat. The bread was so good we could have made a meal of that alone but everything that followed was good as well. I had the french toast stuffed with rhubarb and strawberries. A bit slim on the stuffing but a very good dish. Service was exemplary. Our waiter was quiet, as were the bus boys, but they were there at all the right times, with orders, with water, with clearing the table and getting us the check on time. And an unexpected plus was a music trio and a singer, Initially we worried about the noise level but we were able to converse comfortably."

"We had a very good experience except for the bar and bar expense. Food ,atmosphere, and service was very good. My martini was served in a small champagne style glass and cost $20.00 . My wife had a double gin with tonic at a charge of $ 32.00 . We both had two cocktails with dinner and the tab from the bar came as a shock.. I would recommend the very good food and service but would recommend a before dinner cocktail at a close by alternative bar."

"Although the service was good, we were very disappointed with the food. One appetizer was charred and had a burnt taste. The steak entree was so tough I could not cut it with the steak knife. Lovely atmosphere and the jazz band made brunch feel special, it was hard to visit. "We visited Sunday brunch at The Lambs Club to celebrate some birthdays. The group, Avalon, was upbeat and great to listen to -- standards, jazz -- with a great female vocalist and wonderful accompaniment. The ambiance at The Lambs Club is outstanding. Recast from a private club built in 1904, it's been decorated in Art Deco and traditional elements in a very tasteful way. We had some breakfast fare - fritatta, ahi nicoise salad, eggs benedict, etc. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We're looking forward to a return visit."

"The wait staff needs to be far more attentive to their patrons. We had difficulty figuring out who was our waiter still 10 minutes after sitting down, because the waiters were doing such a fine job of avoiding eye contact and making us feel like we were invisible."

"Having dined at The Lambs Club numerous times, I was looking forward to a pleasant, civilized and delicious pre-theater meal.
The food was excellent, as usual, but it took several inquiries and 20 minutes, before our entrees arrived. Our dessert also took a very long time to make it to the table.
We ended up rushing from the restaurant to make our 7p curtain - which our waiter was aware of but as the meal progressed seemed to forget.
A very disappointing experience given my prior experiences at the resuarant."

"Fantastic food, great service. The night I went, Chef Zakarian was in the dining room entertaining a few other well known chefs. I was kind of gawking and my server noticed and arranged a brief meeting with the chef! He also provided a signed menu of my order of the evening and my dessert was on him! Fantastic evening at a fantastic place. Also, the jazz nights are quite a nice experience."

"Moderately good with some challenges. First the design of the place is a pastiche of art deco/British club cliches. They seem to be challenged with getting you fed and out in time for theater if you arrive after 6. They should be able to serve their very limited prix fixe menu comfortably in 90 minutes. Drinks are way too expensive and it's a light pour - I hate it when bartenders measure a shot. For $20 bucks just pour it and be generous. One funny note. I ordered the celery root soup. When it was poured there was not even enough soup to cover the bottom of the bowl. There was a sizable patch of clean bowl showing in the middle of my soup the entire time I ate it. The soup was rich and a bit thick, but seriously?"

"Came to The Lamb's Club for the first time on Easter and was very pleased. The atmosphere feels a little bit like a Mad Men throwback in a really good way. The walls are adorned with neatly placed pictures of celebs - we were sitting opposite the picture of Woody Allen - and indeed I felt like I could be in one of his movies as we sat there. Sunday brunch is accompanied by a wonderful jazz group called the Avalon Jazz Band, whose repetoire includes "golden age" (their words) French jazz and swing. Excellent group, and it wasn't too loud so as to make conversation a burden. I actually had a burger, which was excellent, and my husband ordered typical "brunch "food with eggs and sausage. Everything was delicious! We'll definitely come back."

"There was nothing special about the brunch / lunch. The menu was run-of-the-mill...just priced on the high side.
The marshmallow that the restaurant is supposedly famous for is just sweet...without much flavor or anything else."
