Ophelia's on the Bay
Ophelia's on the Bay is one of Sarasota’s premier fine dining waterfront restaurants. Enjoy beautiful vistas of Little Sarasota Bay, from the floor-to-ceiling windows that line the dining room. Or join us for al fresco dining on our open-air patio, as the dolphins and manatee swim by. Winner of many awards both locally and nationally, including an Excellence rating from Zagat as well as being listed as the number one restaurant in America in Power and Motoryacht Magazine for dock and dine. Ophelia's on the Bay has also been voted most romantic, best waterfront and best restaurant with a view by its loyal customers. The menu changes nightly using fresh and seasonal ingredients, fresh fish flown in from all over the world and specialty meats. There is certainly something for every palate! We feature an extensive wine list, specialty martinis, as well as a full bar. Family owned and operated for over 22 years, we have an experienced staff that prides itself on exemplary service.

"My husband and I tool my mother to Ophelias for her 96th birthday.
Upon entering,it was obvious that this restaurant has been around for some time. The decor was old and could use

From this point on,everything was spectacular. Our server was wonderful. He recommended the crab cakes as an appetizer and he was right. They were the best I have ever had
Huge chunks of crab and lobster and a Devine flavor. My husband and mother both had the mahi mahi which was delicious and presented beautifully. I had the Bronzonni. Omg. Fabulous.
They recognized my mothers birthday throughout the meal,made her feel special. A bit pricey but well worth it . Will return!"

"Second time eating here first time was not good but they gave us a gift card and assured us to try again as they we're just very busy. So we tried again service was much better but the food is just not very good especially for the price."

"Wonderful dining experience. We participated in "Savor Sarasota" and the meal was "to die for" - really couldn't have been any better. We had the wonderful fortune of being waited on by Michael. He is really exceptional waiter. When we asked how long he had been with Ophelia's he shyly mentioned 17 years. The food was magnificent and the service was an experience to be savored - just like the meal. I have told many people about the experience who will no doubt try Ophelia's - my best dining experience in all of Florida.

"We took advantage of their Savor Sarasota menu, which was a terrific value at $29 for an appetiser, entre and dessert. All six of us ordered different dishes, and they were all fabulous, as expected! Their fare is topnotch and delicious, without being pretentious. It's the best "on the water" restaurant we have found, with food as terrific as the view."

"Big disappointment! Overcrowded, flooded due to weather, but had advanced notice. Food was OK, small portion, which they did for Savor Sarasota. They took a normal portion of salmon (we ordered)and cut it into 4 portions. Wait staff attention to customers who ordered off the regular menu. If you ordered the special you were lucky to see your waiter. We went on a Sat night for a romantic evening. We could hardly see the waterfront, A/C was not working, and the vents were dripping water. This is my 2nd time at this restaurant; has been years since my last visit, and now I remember why. We eat at nice restaurants 3 to 4 times a week; but, this will be my last time at this place.To top it off you had to put up with the snobs on Siesta Key."

"Despite the wet weather, our indoor table faced out to the Intercoastal and with low lighting, it was the perfect romantic evening. Dinner portions were the perfect size. Escargot, mahi mahi and salmon were memorable. We sopped up every bit of the beautiful silky sauce blanketing the escargot. And the caramel sea salt gelato finished the meal beautifully."

"It rained ten minutes after we were seated outdooors. Our waiter seated us inside out of the downpour. Within 10 more minutes the sky cleared and our waiter went back outside and mopped up the table and reset the service for two. The food was, as always, excellent. "We have travelled to Siesta Key for 30 years and found this restaurant a year after it opened. We have never failed to get excellent food and service when we have gone. All their dishes have a wonderful gourmet twist that takes everyday food to another level. Their martinis are dynamite as well. Although, one is plenty! Sitting on the back looking at the Intercoastal Waterway is always a treat. I hope they always stay open and maintain this high level of service and response to their clientele."

"I went with my boyfriend and his Great Aunt for our last night visiting Siesta Key before our trip home to Philadelphia the next day. Our waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. We sat outside on the bay and the view was beautiful. It was 6pm and the sun was in our eyes a little but not for too long. The food was delicious and had a lot of variety. It was pricey but we were here to celebrate!"

"I am 51 years old and can count on one hand the times I have sent a meal back.
The waitress suggested the Filet,I ordered it medium (my mistake).

"I booked dinner on the terrace at 7.45pm. we were told our table "would be a few minutes" and could have a drink at the bar - a noisy, crowded area. The barman made a poor Manhattan with far too much ice & sweet vermouth in a small glass, and a not-very chilled glass of chardonnay - $25 + tip for the privilege.
After 40 minutes I asked about the table and was told that everyone was having such a great time they weren't leaving their table.
Finally at 8.35 we were seated, but the staff seemed under pressure, and it was 9.15pm before a morsel of food arrived.
instead of enjoying the sunset, we were sat in the dark - and the requested ice to chill our wine never arrived.
Ophelia's was an awful experience - though the valet guys were excellent."

"Ophelia's on the Bay was an amazing experience. We had an outdoor table overlooking the bird sanctuary. The stunning sunset views, coupled with the rising of the full moon and numerous herons and egrets were delightful to watch. my sister had a mango martini that was adorned with an edible orchid- beautiful! Everything we ordered was spectacular and our service was great!"

It was very hot outside we were in the hot sun we were moved under the roof out of the sun but there was no air movement

"Second visit in a week. Sat outdoors both time - May is a good time for this ... not too hot. The menu has variety and interesting dishes but not over-whelming. each preparation is thoughtful - ingredients excellent. Fish & seafood, salads, foie gras - all outstanding. Wine list has a very good sampling of varietals and regions and is reasonably priced. Service is very good. We have been going to this restaurant for about 7 years and it's usually been quite good but not special. In 4 visits over the past 6 months we've noticed a consistent level of excellence and now rate this among our top 3 favorite restaurants in SRQ."

"I took my mother here for Mother's Day and we both had a wonderful time! The waitress was attentive and the food was excellent! We shared the crab cakes as an appetizer, which was one of the best crab cakes I've ever eaten, the scallops were delicious and the flourless chocolate torte the waitress suggested was divine! The Martini I ordered was a little stronger than I am used to and I told my waitress and she fixed it immediately.The scenery was beautiful and with the exception of cigarette smoke from a couple of tables, I'd say that it was nearly perfect. I would like to go back for another special occasion."

"Another great night however, a couple of things - we did have to wait 35 minutes for our table w/ advance reservations. That would have almost been ok if we could have gotten a round of drinks at the bar to tide us over, but after 20 minutes of waiting there as well, the bartender kept promising he would be "right with us" - we never did get served. That's too bad, as restaurants make significant profits on their bar tabs, particularly when the drinks are over $11. a piece. Need either more bar help in general on weekends, or a faster bartender. Subsequently, it took us another 20 minutes to get served with cocktails when we finally did get seated at our table. Food yummy - Butterfish & swordfish recommended. Wait staff buried in weeds."

"The wine list had decent wines with pricing not over the top $30 to $80 with some notable wines over $100.
Ambience - I would agree the interior decor is a bit dated, but Orphelia's is about enjoying the view of the bay and that we did. We dined outside by the water fountain overlooking the bay and watched the sun set. The noise level was low and is a great place for a romantic meal or to for a quiet special occassion.
The food was fantastic, the menu is updated daily, however, the crabcakes on fried green tomatoes are one of the few menu staples which we highly recommend, they were sublime.. The filet mignon requested med rare was cooked to perfection and the alaskan butterfish melted well like butter. Top restaurant in Sarasota."

"This was out first visit to Ophelia's after hearing all the great reviews! It definitely lived up to it's reputation in every way!
Beautiful setting on the south end of Siesta Key. 5Star Ambiance without the stuffiness as the staff was very welcoming!
Service was outstanding as the server was knowledgable and helpful with the menu. The food was GREAT - Rare Seared Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna (one of the best I've ever had), Crab Cakes on Fried Green Tomatoes, Eggplant Crepes... YUM! It's was Mother's Day and they were busy but they did not miss a beat! We have found a new treasure in Sarasota!"

"We enjoyed our Mother's Day dinner at Ophelia's, especially the view. One recommendation to the management...use better quality outdoor tables and don't put them on the sloped area by the stairs. The table was very rickety and we had to ask to move because you couldn't even butter your bread without the whole table shaking. The staff did accommodate our request to move. The food that I ate was delicious from mozzarella appetizer to filet mignon to key lime pie. The only complaint about the food was my husband's steak which was cooked well, and he ordered it medium. It was enjoyable to watch for sea life while eating the meal."

"I had the Scallops and the wife had the Halibut both were delicious. Both the wife and I split a California Spring Mix with Gorgonzola, Caramelized Pecans, Blueberries, Tomatoes, Cran-Raisins, Champagne Vinaigrette.- delicious. Our son had a Lobster Infused Blue Crab Bisque - again delicious...
Although the ambiance is lacking a little at this establishment the service and efficiency of the kitchen more than make up for it. We did request a seat on the bay or at least near the water. We were seated inside the restaurant alongside a large crowd of people. We had to remove one seat at our table so the waiter could get by. It was Mothers day and at least I can say the food was absolutely delicious."
