"This might be nice in the evening. It was dark and dank on a beautiful sunny day so we were sorry to be in there. Food was just OK. Beer selection is excellent and there is a large beautiful bar. It is near the opera house which is nice. There are better choices nearby however."

"The food was a bit pricy but absolutely worth it. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed this plate and the drinks were amazing too. I had the seared scallops with polenta and bacon. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the polenta, which I thought that I did not like, had a stiff creamy texture that was unbelievably wonderful. The Moscow Mule I ordered tasted delicious and had plenty of alcohol in it. As I mentioned before each plate is a bit expensive (and so are the drinks) so while I would not call this a place to go on an average Tuesday night it is a great spot to celebrate a birthday party or an upbeat occasion."

"Girlfriend and I were in Boston for her work and staying at the nearby Hyatt. Came to Stoddard's based on Yelp reviews and were more than pleased. I had the rabbit and she had the tenderloin, both were amazing. The fondue was great and I loved that it came with tons of vegetables! Cocktails and beer selection were also amazing and we both definitely went home happy. Our server was excellent as well, friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place to all."

"My wife and ate at Stoddards on the way to the theater. It was a nice place. I loved the history of the place. I remember going past Stoddard Cuttlery when I was a kid. Overall, the food was good. Great beer selection. I would eat there again."

"The table was ready when we got there and were seated promptly. Having tickets to a nearby show, the waitress took out order and told us she would make sure the kitchen knew of out time restriction. Dinner was served in plenty of time to make the show and the food was very good. However after the manager brought our dinners, our waitress disappeared and was difficult to flag down when we did see her. Also the dessert choices are very limited - only 2."

"The food was fine, but it was a bad experience on service. Our waiter was paying much more attention to the two tables on either side of us. We ordered drinks and after 10 minutes got the first, and after 20 minutes got the second. We ordered an app and entrees. After a lengthy period of time, our entrees came out so we asked the appetizer. He was confused, read his notes and stepped away to ask the kitchen. He never put in the appetizer, as he noted upon return. During all of those exchanges he never offered to refill my empty water glass. It was my only time at this restaurant so I was disappointed. It was a date night and that bad experience from start to finish was unfortunate and took away from the night."

"Awesome experience. Having just moved to the area it's overwhelming to decide where to eat. This place was a great find. I was impressed with the menu options, not your usual list of foods, the beer and cocktail list was impressive and the space was amazing. I also enjoyed the staff, very friendly and helpful."

"Menu was limited without many choices that were appealing. We sat at a table downstairs and the room was poorly lit, smelled of stale beer, and the table was sticky. The music was too loud and inappropriate for dining, and coupled with the loud patrons at the bar made talking to the other people in my party very difficult. This is a place that may be ok to grab a beer at the bar, and perhaps a snack, but not one I would recommend for dining at a table. The entree offerings were much to ambitious for this establishment, and none of them really worked. Given the poor menu selections, the mediocrity of the food, and the poor ambiance, this was not a very pleasant dining experience."

"Stoddard's is a bar that excels at bar food. The beer selection was diverse and the server had an excellent knowledge base with regard to the unique features of each. She was also not afraid to make recommendations from the menu, and provided excellent and attentive service.
With its dim lighting and dark wood, Stoddards has the look and feel of a classic tavern/pub."

"This is not a restaurant, it is a pub that also serves food. The food os poor and expensive. If you are looking fo a pub, this probably fits the bill, but with so many other places in downtown crossing serving better fair, skip the menu and stick to beer."

"Restaurant would have been a great spot for me and my friends, but I came with my family and family friends. The restaurant was more of a bar scene than we anticipated so it was sort of hard to hear, especially over the music. I loved the feel and look of the place! Nice beer selection. The deviled eggs were delicious and pork was cooked perfectly for my father. Overall I like the place, but not for a older family dinner."

"I had been to Stoddard's once before for drinks and they absolutely blew me away. Awesome cocktail and beer list. So I decided to take my girlfriend there for dinner.
While the drinks were once again outstanding, the food in our opinion was so so. Yes it was good, but for the price and the way the staff made the menu out to be and how the chef operated we were expecting better. While it wasn't bad by any means I expected more for the price.
I would recommend Stoddard's as a good place to go for cocktails but not to eat"

"I chose Stoddards for 3 reasons: the extensive cocktail menu, the burgers, the pickle pot. We found out the extensive cocktail menu was NOT available in the downstairs dining room.
The service was unreasonably slow. We waited an average of 20 minutes for each drink (including water), asked for condiments and were left waiting while our burgers got cold. The waitress was inattentive & uninformed, the food average.
Out of the three reasons we chose Stoddards, only the fabulous pickle pot was worth it."

"I love the feel of Stoddards and would definitely come back for a drink, but I felt the food was significantly over priced for what we got. I am happy to pay for good food, but my piece of cod was not worth $23.
We were also rushed out of our table after less than 90min, because someone else wanted it. We had reservations for dinner, had barely finished eating, and had full drinks still. That was not awesome and cut our night with our friends short, which is a bummer.

"Stoddard's has a lively bar scene and seems to be very popular with students and the downtown younger work crowd. I've been there three times now, and if you don't get there before 6pm, forget finding a seat. The draft beer offerings turned out to be very disappointing. The menu tends towards American ambers and Belgian beers. Only two IPAs and none that aren't run-of-the-mill. The food menu is interesting--with venison and rabbit, in addition to the more standard burger, cod, and scallops. But the burger was only mediocre. The meat was not particularly tasty and the house sauce was too sweet. The venison, however, was excellent, as was the kale and the onion rings. Overall, the experience was very uneven. I expected more."

"This is a very good spot for Boston. It's a combination of a traditional Boston bar, but with great bartenders and real cocktails. Fun late 20s and 30s crowd, great cocktail menu, and decent (albeit not great) food. More of a bar than a restaurant, but it's also good for dinner. Atmosphere is loud, most tables are high top."
