"Excellent restaurant. Consistently good food and service. Nice wine list. Enjoyed a bottle of Next Door Wine with dinner. Nice place for dinner before a Sharks game or concert at HP Pavillion."

"It was nice to have a menu to pick from instead of one fixed price for too much food. The food is superb. Service was a little slow and waiter looked like he had a hangover but overall it was a wonderful brunch with my family in a private room. Have gone before and wlll continue."

"We enjoyed the food with reasonable good service. We had a table at about the glass door which was open and the street seemed to have a lot of traffic. While the food was good and in good portions, but the menu was a little short and did not offer a lot of selections. The 'hearts of Romaine salad' with ceasar dressing was terrific and the high spot of the meal."

"8 of us went to this restaurant before an event at the nearby California theater. We chose it based on location more than anything else and I really wanted to like it, but didn't. The service wasn't great. When we told the waiter that we had an hour and a half, he rolled his eyes. The menu was limited. The grilled asparagus appetizer wasn't fresh or interesting. The dressing on my spinach salad was so heavy that the salad was inedible. My friend ordered a cup of soup and it came in a very large, shallow bowl, so it got cold quickly. There was sliced supermarket french bread on the table. A pretty "meh" experience."

"Restaurant was great. We were seated outside, had attentive wait service, but unfortunately, the "view" of the parking structure combined with a million, very loud, 49er fans marred the ambience. Otherwise....great restaurant!"

"My coworkers and I enjoyed our time here. We are celebrating our newly renovated office and all of the hard work we have put into the space. We came for dinner and had a great time. The food and atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for- fun and fresh. We're hoping to recommend the space for future client and team events. Thanks-"

"71 Saint Peter is our "go to" restaurant in San Jose when we want a good meal in pleasant surroundings at moderate prices. We always find several enjoyable dishes on the menu and are never disappointed."

"The restaurant was very accommodation to my dietary restrictions, and the food was delicious! We are both "out of townies" (Berkeley and France) and planned to meet in San Jose for dinner. We were not disappointed. This is our second visit to the restaurant in a year. The menu is small, but everything is super fresh. We took our own wine this time, but only because it is a favorite...the wine list is very good. Definitely worth a visit."

"We had great service but had an issue. We purchased a $50 bottle of wine and then we asked if we could gave the larger, red wine glasses. We were told we couldn't and that they are reserved for the "more expensive" wines. We were quite offended by this comment. Did it have to be a $100 bottle of wine to deserve the "expensive" glasses?? It just isn't seem right and a little snooty. Our friend was persistent, trying to explain the difference in the taste with the correct glasses. Our waitress soon brought us the glasses we requested which we were very appreciative of and enjoyed the 2 $50 bottles of wine so much more :-)"

"We had a great time on Valentine's night. All our food was fresh and most enjoyable. The server was very attentive. The table was in a corridor - a bit of an odd space - but OK for a quick meal which is what we wanted. They provided vegetarian options for my friends. I really enjoyed the duck."

"Attentive waiters, food fresh we could see it being plated which was fun, wonderful to be in a restaurant where you can converse with your table in normal voices rather than shout above the noise - a real plus. Live music which added to the ambiance. A delightful evening."

"Very accessible for lunch, and the food and ambiance are meant to impress. Very definitely sort of an undiscovered gem in downtown San Jose at least for lunch. Easy parking nearby. Service was very good as well... I'll be bringing the foodie wife back here!"

"The food was excellent! Foodie level good. HOWEVER THE WINE WAS WAY OVERPRICED; think $50.00 for a $10.00 bottle of J. Lohr chardonnay! We won't be back, in spite of liking the great food, because of the wine prices."

"We came here about 6 months ago and were pleasantly surprised by the food. The pork tenderloin was fantastic. What was lacking was the service.
This time, the pork was a little dry, but the service was GREAT. I would definitely come here again. I think the pork being overcooked may have been a fluke. Everything else on my plate was good.
Tips: The bruschetta was delicious - not your typical bruschetta. The chocolate was heavenly - very moist. Don't bother with the fruit crisp. If you're going to have dessert, go for a real dessert."

"We enjoyed our meal. The salmon and steak were cooked perfectly, the green beans were crisp & the potatoes were roasted nicely. We plan to come back and try out other menu items, and hopefully stay for dessert next time!"
