An Ofrenda, in Spanish, is an offering, a gift. At their cozy West Village space, owner Jorge Guzman and Chef Mario Hernandez offer their unique interpretation of classic Mexican cuisine with an innovative cocktail menu of tequila-based drinks. Named by NYLuxury as “one of the top ten restaurants in New York serving Latin food” and as “Top Tequila Bar in the US” by the editors of USA Today, this intimate and stylish cocina offers its guests a blend of passions. Jorge’s desire is to create a sexy and fun space to enjoy creative cocktails with the best of Latin cuisine. While Chef Mario’s dream is to craft dishes to showcase the indigenous ingredients of Mexico, the foods his ancestors enjoyed, and bring those flavors to a new generation. This team has joined forces to offer guests a unique dining experience. We look forward to having you.
"Good food and service. We had noticed Ofrenda near our home and tried once to walk in but it was packed; so we finally made a reservation. We loved the food. It was a little hard to find a relatively quiet table to converse and we made a bad judgement to sit in back by a very busy, elevated table of about ten, who were animated but not obnoxious. We would have had a good wait to sit outside. But, overall, no complaints because the service and food are excellent: both pork and chicken enchiladas; lamb empanadas for appetizers, and a chocolate brownie confection that was very tasty."

"I arrived 45 minutes early for my reservation. Checked in with hostess- had a conversation with her. Sat at the bar where someone took my order then promptly got into a deep conversation with another worker. Took about 10 minutes for them to get me my drink. I notified the hostess when my friend showed (still prior to res time). Told her we would prefer to sit inside but would consider outside. 15 - 20 mins after our res time, I again went to the hostess and was told the inside tables were for people with reservations,so reminded her I had one. She sat us outside. Took over an hour to get our dinner. Moved inside. Kitchen was ringing a bell repeatedly. I called over a random server, turns out it was our food. Food was great. Service, not."

"We told the server when we arrived that we had a play to attend at 8pm and so we had 1 hr 15 min to be served get in and out... they took their time coming around to take our order and were slow to bring our drinks/food even after a reminder that we needed to leave by 7:45pm... in the end the server took her time bringing our to go box and change... she stopped and talked to other tables and we left at 8:05pm after the play had begun and were unable to enter until intermission."

"Food was o.k. Not great. A bit overpriced for what you get. Paid $26 for two scallop mini enchalada's and they were about 3 bites each one and did not come with rice or beans. No meals came with any rice or beans. Did decide to order and was charged 12 for tiny side of rice and beans. Drinks were great, and so was the staff."

"The food at Ofrenda was hit and miss I am afraid. The margaritas were great! The guacamole was great, the chips that came with them were a little stale and not enough served for the guacamole. We ordered the fish tacos for an appetizer, they were really good but not as great as other places I have been. Our table also ordered the Queso, the tortillas were not that great either. We ordered the Carne Asada and the meat was tough. I had the Short Ribs which were decent but not served with anything....it needed something with it. Though we did order a side dish of black beans which were above average but a bit salty. I really wanted to like this place....but there are places that have much better food."

"I went with a friend who loves Mexican food and she said the food was 100% authentic. They even had Mexican beer. Really loved the interior and the warm lamps (especally on a cold night). Would love to come back in summer when its warm and sit outside. Had a very good experience and would definetely recommend to others."

"very pleased with my experience at Ofrenda. Made a reservation for a table of three although there was a bit of a wait the hostess offered us a drink menu at the bar. food was great. at times we lost our waitress because it was a busy friday night yet we were able to catch other waiters that were more than happy to place our drink orders for us. we did not feel rushed at all through our entire dining experience and stayed for almost three hours. we all ordered meals and a pitcher of margaritas and were refilled chips and salsa. A truly pleasant surprise was when the waitress gave us dessert on the house. a vibrant crowd and excellent meal. will return for happy hour specials."

"Great/fun restaurant -- but WAY TOO LOUD! Really need to turn down the music several decibels. You can't hear yourself talk, let alone your dining companions."

"It took a little while to get a table and not too much room at the bar, but we loved the food and the service was wonderful. I enjoyed my enchiladas with the fried avocado. I will definitely be back."

"We finally arrived in time for brunch and once again, Ofrenda never disappoints! The new cocktail is amazing - we even stayed around after finishing for the dinner drink menu to become available and so glad we did! Ofrenda is always a stop for us even for one of the amazing cocktail creations!"

"Ofrenda is a quaint little restaurant with delicious food...but the prices are not for the faint-hearted! $12 for two tiny tacos is a bit steep, but you'll enjoy every bite!"
