Strand Bistro at The Strand Hotel
Located in The Strand Hotel in the Fashion District, The Strand Bistro serves new American cuisine, with contemporary influences. Chef Kelvin Fernandez has created a menu that reflects the influences of his past, with an intuitive nod towards current, and evolving trends. As trends in the fashion industry are forever changing, there will always be those classic styles that remain timeless. Cuisine is very much the same way and Chef Kelvin demonstrate's this with his new menu.
With a cozy and inviting lounge, a fireplace, and an enchanting fish tank (yes that's right a big fish tank!) the interior is quirky yet comfortable. There is a place to lounge, place to wine and place to dine, and after dinner you can have a cocktail at our relaxing roof top lounge at The Top of the Strand with stunning views of The Empire State Building.

"Good prix fixe menu for Mother's Day - $39 for 3 courses (i had the Chet's corn/tomato chilled soup + crab cake Benedict + flan) plus $20 for unlimited brunch cocktails (bellinis, mimosas or bloody Mary's). Nice atmosphere, each dish better that the last. Overall great! And our waiter made sure there was always a cocktail in front of me! Oh, and they weren't watered down... At all... Woo hoo!! ;-)"

"very nice restaurant that's in the strand hotel. we went on sunday eve, mother's day, probably not a big day for the restuarant and were the only one's seated in the back room, so it was empty and felt that way. nevertheless, the restaurant is very nice and the food and service were very good."

"Tucked in a small boutique hotel is a beautiful lounge with friendly and helpful attendant and wait staff. We went for lunch and ended up sampling all of there pre fix menu and were beyond impressed, this was about twenty levels above your typical hotel food. All together I will end up frequenting the bistro based on the environment, staff and food. I could not recommend more highly if you need a meeting place before dinner of a light fare and nice drinks.Wish the roof top was open earlier"

"We were looking for something interesting but not outrageously priced near times square, and when i saw lobster risotto on the strand bistro menu, i knew i could be happy going there. The delightful flavors of this dish more than lived up to its description, but so did everything we ordered! My fellow diners greatly enjoyed the calimari, the salmon, the braised chicken and the steak - which all sound very typical but which all brought unique flavors and presentation to the table. A little taste of warm fallen chocolate cake and cheesecake canolis made for a wonderful finish. We will be back for the wonderful food, pleasant service and easy going atmosphere near the warm springtime fireplace!"

"I went there with a coworker and we were impressed with the food and our waiter was very attentive. He made sure to come by our table frequently to check in on us. "Well, swordfish was bland and sauceless and dull. The waitress misled me to believe that swordfish was flaky... So I blame her as well. Eventually had to send back the meal and instead got the salmon. Also bland and sauceless. But my husband's chilled corn soup and pork chop were great. Didn't care for the tuna tartar either. Overall, don't recommend and won't go back."

"First time at the Strand. The hostess was friendly enough; I was seated immediately even though my dining companion was not there.
what wasn't great was that I literally sat at my table for 15 minutes before I literally waved a bus boy down, only to have an unfriendly waitress come over, and tell my she'd send my server to take my order. (P.S. the Restaurant was pretty empty at that time).
I only had a pasta special; the papardelle and lamb ragu and it was absolutely spectacular! The portion size was perfect and it was cooked just right! Highlight! Chef Kelvin came out and greeted us, super cool even took a pic with us.
We'll be back!"

"Delicious pre-theatre meal at The Strand. Shared the spicy tuna tartare, which was delicious, tho I couldn't detect the sriracha that was detailed on the menu. My uncle had the scallops over pork belly, which were decadent and perfectly cooked. I had the swordfish - everything on the plate was beautiful and delicious, super refined, A+ to the kitchen.
Service was lacking a bit unfortunately, nothing horrendous, just sort of absentee. I had to ask for more water and bread (usually I'm not huge on bread but their brioche with a hint of cheese I think? was delicious). And we were eating early, so the dining room wasn't crowded. No one ever asked how our dishes were, which is sort of a pet peeve for me. I'd return if I was in the area tho."

"Great night out with friends, Amazing food and very good service, The place was packed and i can clearly see why, Seems like there a well known chef with everyone asking to take pictures with him i almost wanted to ask myself but was shy! next time i will :) must try the Coconut dessert and the Cheesecake Spring roll! "Delightful late afternoon lunch with a group of woman after an equally wonderful Shop Gotham Tour. The restaurant is beauftifully appointed with a large fish tank, large paintings, flowers etc. The service was perfect and the wine and salads were delicious. There is a rooftop bar with views and we all plan on returning. Very pleasant experience."

"I can't tell you enough how special this place is. I had to write a review right away!
Sexy Vibe in the Bistro Service was great and Food Was Spectacular.. I was not expecting this from a hotel. The Bacon egg and cheese flat bread was cool and Unique, The Cauliflower soup was excellent, the Scallops were amazing and the cheesecake spring roll and flan was Heaven on a plate! I will continue to come back!"

"My girlfriend suggested the Bistro on a recent trip to NYC. Neither of us had been to the restaurant before. My girlfriend had special dietary needs and our server made sure to eliminate the offending ingredients from everything she ordered. The food was prepared perfectly. The plating was simple but elegant but more importantly the flavor was outstanding. I had the Scallops and she had the Lamb. We will definitely come back next time we are in NYC. Pardon any typos. "We went there for dinner on the day they introduced the new menu. I have to admit, none of the main courses seemed particularly interesting when reading them off the menu, but the food was delicious. We split the flat breads and a salad to start (they were yummy) and then had the porkchop and rack of lamb, which were fantastic. For dessert we had the warm chocolate cake and the cheesecake spring roll (something between a donut and canoli). but what was truly outstanding was the service. I don't know if they tried particularly hard that day, but they were amazing. Particularly our waiter Sharif, who was knowledgeable about the food and wine, gave excellent recommendations, and was kind and attentive without being overbearing. We'll be back."
