Established in 1977, our restaurant has become a favorite landmark for locals and visitors alike. The lively bar tables are great for people watching and the Wine Cellar is ideal for private occasions.
The Chef has daily specials that are sure to entice your palate. Seasonal fresh fish, blackened lamb loin, handmade raviolis, apricot-glazed baked brie, Godiva chocolate torte, yum!
"I took my wife here for dinner on Easter. The service was good and the food was tasteful but pricey. The menu selections were very limited if you want seafood or a good salad instead of heavy pasta. The wine selection was adequate but limited. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very staid and dated. There was one open room of tables where people all sat looking at each other. It was my first time at this restaurant and unfortunately I would choose either Bungalow, Tommy Bahama, Summer House or Bandera instead."

"First time at this restaurant. Always wanted to go to Rothschild's but never got around to it.....until now. The service was warm and attentive. The hostess and wait staff truly cared and wanted to make sure our party was cared for. The food was exceptional. We especially liked the Crispy Chicken and Spinach Ravioli, Lobster Ravioli, and the Vitello Rothschild's which was veal in a white wine and lemon sauce. The pasta is made on the premises and was quite delicious. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the halibut as the fresh fish. We were not rushed and were able to enjoy each portion of the meal as well as each's other company!"

"Was excited to try out Rothschild because fe restaurants serve caviar in the OC, maybe they should take note! That said pastas were sensational. I haven't looked forward to eating leftovers in some time. Also desserts were delicious. Service was polished, but friendlly. Not far from my house will def. be back. P.s. don't order the caviar had a weird acidic taste and no bellinis :("

"I have been frequenting Rothchilds for 35 years and I have NEVER had a bad meal or negative experience. The food is always delicious and perfectly prepared. The staff is professional and attentive without being over the top. The wine list will please anyone and there is always a manger/owner present. I cannot wait to return!"

"Made a return visit after a few years and it will be the last. The restaurant is in need of a major face lift and the food resembled something less tasty than what one might expect out of a can. There were four of us dining and each entree was worse than the next. Canned mushrooms in their "Signature Dish" along with super greasy sauces that simply were bad. The only saving grace was the waiter who was very attentive. Not to mention they have a parking lot in the back that you pull right into and the minute you park your car someone walks over and tells you that it is valet only for a fee. I never parked my own car in a valet lot before. Oh,the garlic bread was pretty good. Bad experience!"

"The resturant is charming and small, which is nice. However, while the menu looks good, the food is old school like the clientele. The food was at best bland to odd tasting and the ingredients were of poor quality. I ordered the veal medallions and instead got some sort of pressed patty that looked and tasted as though it came from the freezer of a French high school cafeteria. Difinately not worth the price charged. If you are under 65 and still have taste buds, look elsewhere for a nice meal."

"My husband and I went with a gift card, and to celebrate his birthday. We weren't sure what to expect, and were pleasantly fulfilled. The restaurant has a very old school Italian feeling. There is an older "Newport money" crowd that seems to frequent the establishment, yet there was no stuffy attitude! The service was very pleasant and the food was delicious! Also the people watching was a gem. Its a bit pricey but well worth it. We even had leftovers that were equally delectable the following day!"

"Very mixed last night...my husband said his salmon was really excellent. My very favorite Fettucine alfredo was not very good - very dry and not up to par. The service was a bit slow, but OK. It all seemed a bit "off". This is one of our favorite places, so really hope it is not slipping..."

"Disappointed. Rothschild's is a mainstay and been around for a long time. Sad to see and experience that it was disappointing. Friday at lunch time -- 1p -- only three two-somes. Not a good sign. One pasta meal was swimming in a too-cheesy sauce, the salad entree' looked dry although the filet was delicious. One out of three meals good -- not up to par for what we need when dining for business."

"They need to do something about the upstairs lighting. The lights are constantly changing from bright to dark... pretty annoying. Great service though. The people that work there really make it feel special."

"Quaint dining room, locals seem to dine in the bar. Nice atmosphere. The appetizer options are nice, although the escargot was not as flavorful and would not order it again. The Caesar Salad was too creamy, not much anchovy garlic flavor. The cannelloni was ok, but again, not something to order a second time. The linquine with clams and shrimp, was different. The clams were not served in the shell, this is a no-no in my book. Overall, might try this restaurant again, but would definitely would order differently and try other food. The service was friendly."

"There was no one, and I mean no one, at the hostess stand to seat us per our reservations. There is literally no where to stand if you have to wait. This is a tiny restaurant, and it can't be that hard to figure out where the reserved tables are. One server after another swerved by us, and no one helped us. Finally, after 20 minutes, the third time one person told us she would get to us soon, she finally did. The actual waiter, once we were seated, was extremely nice and attentive. The food is sloppy--gobs of sauce thrown over dishes. Portions are very large, but not delicious."

"Celebrated our anniversary here and it did not disappoint. We had the restaurant week 3 course meal, pate, caesar salad, calamari diablo, and creme brulee. Everything was delicious. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. We'll be going back again and we've already recommended it to several people."

"We visited this CdM landmark during Restaurant Week and were quite impressed by the level of personal service and attention to detail. The food was v good and the wine list was extensive and fairly priced. We will definitely return and try some new dishes."

"Had the prixe fixe menu for Restaurant Week and although the appetizer and desert were stellar, I cannot say that about the Chicken entree. I also dined earlier this week on Monday and decided the meal I had was so delicious I would treat my husband on Thursday. We ordered the same chicken entree and it bore no resemblance to what I was served with another friend on Monday. I guess consistency is lacking or there is a change of chef. The chicken on Thursday was "tough" to cut and the gravy, although good, looked like it was "slopped on". This was not the way with the chicken on Monday. Patricia"

"the food was good, a bit too salty though. we enjoyed most of our meals, but the temperature in the room was too cold. the lights flickered quite a bit, so it wasn't the best experience. we thought they might have a power outage and our dinner wouldn't arrive. they should repair things like this as it didn't leave the best feeling of returning. the waitress could have apologized or said that this never happens, but there was no mention."

"We went there during Newport's Restaurant week. The $30.00 pre fixe meal was excellent. Some had the salmon, which was very good, and I had the filet mignon with a delicious sauce. the portions were perfect and the raspberry linzer for dessert was yummy. Everyone agreed we would be coming back."

"This is a small, but well-appointed, restaurant in the heart of Corona Del Mar. The cuisine is fine Italian/Continental. Due to its limited size, it can be noisy if heavily attended. The food is excellent. There's a small parking area behind the restaurant. Full bar. We plan to return."

"I started with the bruchetta and as soon as soon as I tasted the marinated diced tomatoes, I knew this bruchetta would taste great and it did. It was followed by Chicken in sauce; the sauce was delicious and the chicken as well. Don't know how they get the chicken so tender, not overcooked. I had Chianti - great and the dessert hit the highnote. It was a heart shaped white chocolate with sorbet and I think ice cream inside. This was the Fixe Prixe menu for restaurant week. You won't go wrong with great food like this...my hat off to the chef. The service was excellent. Patricia"

"It was a Sunday night - the room was full but nobody waiting for a table. The service was terrible. The waiter asked us if we wanted garlic bread - normally you get bread at an Italian place - didn't tell us that it was a $3 charge. The Linguine with Bolognese was actually spaghetti with some generic kind of sauce - very little meat and it all looked like ground beef and to top it off it was barely luke warm. Horrible. Will never go back."

"Rothschilds looks like it was an old house so it has an intimate feel about it. Our service was excellent and unobtrusive and the noise level was quiet even though there were tables in fairly close proximity to our table. We ordered off the Prix Fixe menu so did not peruse the regular menu very much but what we ordered was well prepared and also well presented. My steak was done the way I asked and my veggies were nicely done, not too much but also not rubbery as in some restaurants. There are some stairs to some of the tables so it might be advised for the staff while taking a reservation to mention that for the benefit of handicapped people."

"I was a little skeptical to come here from reviews on other sites, but I am glad I decided to come. The food and service were very good. The ambiance is very upscale and perfect for a romantic night out with a special person. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I chose the 3-course meal from the "restaurant week" menu, each course was divine. I want to return for dinner sometime."
