Tallula
Tallula offers a modern approach to classic American fare in a friendly neighborhood environment. The menu focuses heavily on bold flavors resulting from the use of fresh, local produce and the highest quality meats they can find. The extensive wine list features more than 350 wines by the bottle and 70 by the glass. Tallula's dining room, bar, lounge and wine shop provide four distinctively different settings to enjoy dinner with your family, celebrate with friends, or grab a quick bite to eat!
We reserve a portion of our dining room for walk-in customers. We accept walk ins!

"I enjoyed the experience very much. I went with other 7 people and they gave us a great table. Server was nice, she could've probably recommended a more expensive bottle of wine, but she gave a great affordable recommendation.

"I took my mom to Tallula for brunch for Mother's Day. The menu was varied and the food was very good, and reasonably priced for a "hip" eatery. The cheese grits were particularly tasty, and came in a huge portion. The bacon was some of the best I've ever had. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The place was fairly busy, but the noise level was not annoying. All in all, a very good dining experience."

"I took my date here on a Saturday night for her birthday because we had both had a great experience here a few months before at a birthday dinner for her son. I loved the ambiance on the previous occasion: it was quiet and candle-lit, surrounded by wine and heavy wooden furniture. Unfortunately, we didn't find that same ambiance on this occasion. There was a large group that was quite loud, and so every other pair of diners had to raise their volume to be heard. It was almost like a cafeteria. I'm guessing it all depends on which night you go. If you want quiet ambiance, go on a Sunday night, as we did for our first experience. If you want "energetic" volume and loud laughing, a Saturday night is your best bet."

"We went to Tallula the other night and we were sat at the Chef's Table - a spot in the back of the restaurant which allows you a view of the kitchen magic and the opportunity to interact with Chef Nate. What a treat!
It is always a pleasure to visit and we had a wonderful meal, getting a special plate made for us "since we were at the Chef's Table". How cool is that??? We got to view the symphony that is a restaurant kitchen on a busy night and experience a delicious meal.
We can't recommend it enough. Give it a try!"

"This was our fourth or fifth time at Tallula. We have also been to the Eat Bar next door several times. Tallula is a solid restaurant with very good quality food. I typically get seafood and I have had both the Flounder and the Scallops, both of which were cooked to perfection. The service is always good and the wine list is ample, with plenty of reasonably priced selections. My only knock is that the cheese plate portions have been scaled back, but they are still delicious. We live close by and consider this a local, high-end restaurant that comes through in terms of quality of food and ambiance."

The only drawback I see is, though the food is fantastic, the menu doesn't change often. I'd go more, at least in theory, but I've eaten everything I wanted twice already."

"Went for Sunday brunch with my husband. Service started off very slow (about 15 minutes before our waiter dropped by), but picked up from there. We had a later reservation at 1 PM so once the place cleared out a little bit, service became much better. Because of the late time, they were out of the entree my husband ordered. Tallula was quick to notify us, and provided us with a free dessert and small plate. Food was overall really good; however, portion size really varied (entrees much smaller than sandwich)."

"Tallula once was great. It has gone downhill, sadly. There once was a sommelier who would pair wines by the glass with each course. Our waiter was unfamIliar win the wine list and guided our group poorly. The food once was memorable; now it is merely good. And the noise level has gotten worse. Not livIng in the neighborhood, I once treated Tallula as a destination restaurant. It is no longer worth a special trip, based on this recent experience. But it was such a special place in the past that I probably will give it one more try."

"Tallula's all about the food, which is superb. The decor, not so much, but when you're enjoying the food, the service, and the excellent and eclectic wine list, that's not all that relevant. The menu is small, but offers enough diversity so that even the pickiest diner will find something to like. The roasted beet salad was a small gem, with the earthy sweetness of the beets offset by the contrasting microgreens. My pork loin was superb, perfectly cooked to medium/medium-rare and smoky and delicious from the grill. Honestly the best pork dish I can remember having in many years. The wine list is a real star here -- it's broad and deep, with offerings from around the globe and very fairly priced, a rarity in this area."

"My dinner partner and I both ordered fish and it was very good. Hostess kindly moved us a to a quieter table when we requested it. Only disappointment was the wine list, which was disappointing to us. It is very long, and things in the moderate range just were not that good. We tried three moderately priced reds (one was $50 for a bottle) and all of them were things I found less appealing than simple table wine reds that i drink everyday at home. For me to make the restaurant a frequent stop (and I live close by and could do that), I would like to see more moderately priced, good wine."

"This is a neighborhood favorite of ours. I took my wife and children to celebrate her birthday there and we had a great time. This is a stylish restaurant that is not pretentious, with a diverse menu. My wife had the pork loin that was juicy, tasty, and paried with apples and other sides. I had the scallops - tasty. The kids had hot sausages from the bar menu. The after dinner donuts were decadent (very good!!).
What else to say? I highly recommend Tallula's for upscale dining."

We arrived a couple of minutes early for our reservation and our table wasn't ready. No issues, we were early, but we were finally seated 20 minutes late. The simple act of getting bread and drinks was tough - bottom line, the staff were overwhelmed by the crowd.
We'll definitely return, but the neighborhood is not getting less crowded - Tallula should reexamine their approach to the busy nights."

"What a great spot. The food and service were amazing. We had the sirloin and the pork loin and both were delicious and cooked perfectly. The only minor 'negative': while the main room was nicely appointed, it just didn't feel super cozy/romantic. Not sure exactly why. Still, a great place and we'll be heading back again soon."

"We had heard great things about this restaurant so made a Sat.nite reservation. The table right in front of the door was very cold--every time the front door opened we were greeted by a breeze. Our waiter introduced himself and then we sat waiting for someone to take our drink orders. After about 20 minutes, we stopped a manager who took our order and delivered our wine. The food was inconsistent. My scallops were very good, but the lamb ragout was disappointing. It was 95% pasta and about 5% lamb. I've never had a ragout that was more like pasta with a little meat sauce. The little doughnuts holes at the end were outstanding!"

"The experience and atmosphere was wonderful. The food was good, didn't blow me away though. We had the beef cheeks to start, which were delicious. Then entreés were Flounder and Pork Loin, with a side of winter greens, which were just ok - the pork loin was a bit chewy. I Loved the infinite wine selection they offer and they have a short, but mighty, list of beers. The expresso at the end was delicious with the fresh doughnuts they give out as treats. The bar next door is pretty sweet too. We'd go back."

"They were understaffed when I went, so the manager was my table's server. Problem is he was a very busy guy and didn't get to us very often. So while that was annoying, he made up for it by comping our wine and giving us a free dessert. Othe than that, the food was great and reasonably priced, and the ambiance was great. So I would definitely go back."

"We celebrated an early Valentine's dinner. We had exceptional service and the food tasted like it came from a 5-star restaurant. We REALLY enjoyed this dinner and will definitely be back. The temperature was also comfortable, which seems to be an issue at many of the restaurants we have visited recently. The only downside was the limited parking. We arrived early in the dinner hour and luckily got the last spot available in the lot. Hope for a spot in their lot, but plan for street parking if you are driving."
