We're very serious about food, but atmosphere is casual at Food Dance. We begin by sourcing the freshest ingredients from our family of farms. Starting with Norm's free range eggs in your omelet to J&S farm's fruit we preserve in-house for our cocktails, you will find great full flavored food on our menus. We work to build relationships with the farmers, ranchers, cheese makers and producers of fine food that share our same values.

"Prior to arriving to Food Dance, my family and I had no expectations. We are not from the area but have heard positive comments about the restaurant and read great reviews online. The food was presented beautifully and tasted awesome. Our waiter, Reece, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the restaurant."

"My husband and I have recently moved to Kalamazoo from Macomb County, Michigan. Our niece recommended Food Dance and we went. My husband still believes that his 'pork chop' was the BEST PORK CHOP he ever had. I had the spring tart.....and learned what ramps were! We also tasted some cheeses and I fell in love with the mattone. Sooooo, great food and, for us, a food education. Definetly will be going back. Also appreciated being able to purchase the wine we had with dinner.... Thanks!

"Along with thousands of other medievalists, I visit Kalamazoo once a year, and I've done so for six years now. For the last four visits, I've gone to Food Dance, and it's now a must-do on my Kalamazoo agenda. Service is amazing (hello Kimberley!), and the food and cocktails are great. Every year, I bring at least some new people, and all have loved it. Highly recommended."

"Food Dance is one of our all-time favorite dining places in Kalamazoo, where choices abound for our family's varied taste buds, including vegan/vegetarian. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The staff is well trained and very accommodating. "We had a party of 19. The service was excellent, which isn't easy with a party that large. We had vegans who found some nice choices, and foodies who were all satisfied with their meals. As the "planner" of this outing I was very pleased."

"We celebrated our son's graduation at Food Dance. Our reservation was flawless. After the ceremony we were famished and it was great to walk in to a restaurant and be seated immediately. We had a cozy nook which was quiet and comfortable. The wine list and abundance of beers on tap were impressive. We were delighted by the perogie appetizer which brought back memories of Polish grandparents since passed on. My husband and I were awed by the generous, fresh salad entrees ; his Salmon and mine the Cobb. Delicious and best salads by far! The savory bread and herb butter: Yum! Our carnivorous sons feasted a delectable steak and scrumptious burger. Dessert was divine!! We will definitely return for another special occasion."

"This is our second time at food dance. The first time everthIng was great. This time service was great but do have a complaint about the pork chop specifically as it was very fatty. The size of it was quite large however 1/2 to 3/4 of it was all fat. For the price that is charged for the entree it does not seem like a good value. The other entrees in our group new York strip, lobster dish and spring roll were very good."

"The experience of eating at Food Dance was top notch. The dinner was the best I have had in a long time. One of the reasons we eat there is the food is fresh and chosen to be served. There is only one thing Food Dance could change. My boyfriend and myself wanted two pieces of cake, then found out that they do not serve a slice of cake, you have to buy a small cake for 15.00. So that would have been 30.00 for dessert. I don't understand that at all."

"This is a favorite of ours in town. My family loves going here for brunch on Sundays, however this visit was for a business dinner. The curry chickpeas and duck entree were outstanding. This place never disappoints. I have taken associates from San Francisco, Chicago and NY here and they all are very surprised that a place like this exists in Kalamazoo. If you haven't been, check it out."

"Found this place on TripAdvisor and it was every bit as good as the reviews. Dinner was so good, we went back for Sunday brunch the following afternoon. The fried chick peas w curry is a must try. My wife had a vegetarian squash tart that was delicious (and I'm a carnivore) & I the NY strip w foraged mushrooms that I had was one of the tenderest cuts of meat I've ever had. The real treat though was dessert - bacon & egg custard vanilla ice cream with french toast. The ice cream was both sweet & smoky - a truly hedonistic experience. For Sunday Brunch I highly recommend the smoked whitefish scramble that my wife ordered."

"This review is for Friday March 8th at 6:30 PM. We had a booth in the second room. The noise level was very loud, not from customers, but from the upstairs level. It sounded like people running up there. Our waitress was pretty bad. She was forgetfull and slow. It seemed like her first night. She really ruined what would have been a fun dinner. The food saved the meal. Everything was great, including the cake we ordered for our birthday dinner."

"Food Dance is a wonderful dining experience in Kalamazoo. The food is great, the customer service is spot on, and the ambiance is very cool. Parking can be challenging, though. I am very happy to see that Food Dance is now using OpenTable to accept reservations. It made our choice of where to have dinner on a Saturday night very easy."

"Food Dance has a nice presence. I wish there were more gluten free options, though. I ended up with steak and potatoes and vegetables. Everything was pretty greasy, though they did mention that it would be cooked with duck fat. I guess I was warned, but there were not many options on the menu for me. My friend enjoyed the salmon and mac and cheese. I liked my Black Valentine cocktail. Service was weird. There was a lot of pressure to put drink orders in right away, but we were first timers. Then when we were ready, it was hard to find the server again. This was the pattern. We had tickets for a show afterward and were late. Overall, I really enjoyed Food Dance and would return."

"Held a work dinner gathering at Food Dance. Great service, great food! Everything was delicious, well prepared, served hot and cooked exactly as ordered. 8 very happy people left almost two hours after starting our meal. I can't wait to go back."

"This was a birthday celebration and we had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic and the wine that we had chosen was extremely good. We had not tried this label before and we were very much impressed. The service was very good, very prompt and very pleasant."

"It was OK but not Wow. The food was good but nothing special. Tomato soup... wife said, 'Tastes just like the tomato bisque I make.' My Whitefish was OK but was like something I would prepare at home. Wife's BBQ chicken was dry and tough."

"My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and the staff had all signed a card, lit candles, and had a rose on the table when we arrived. It was amazing experience, with amazing service. I had the salmon, and my girlfriend had the Chicken dance sandwich which she recommends. Overall, Food Dance was a great experience. Recommended."

"The appetizer we had was great -- the local dried fish. Amazing! But the main course -- the steak -- was only a so-so cut of meat. The dessert -- creme brulee -- was too dense and thick, more like a cheesecake. And worst of all was the tea, which was lukewarm. So the experience went steadily downhill over the course of the evening."

"What a treat! Having found Fooddance just by luck in Googling, our hostess at the B and B was ready to recommend it when she asked if we had/needed any reservations. Wanted to make it back for Sunday brunch-maybe next time. The boutique shopping was great and wish it would have still been open when we were done dining. Would love to have FOODDANCE in my town!"
