Beacon Bar and Grill
Designer Walter Gagliano second visioning of BBG introduced a fresh, and romantic feel to BBG. Vermeer’s portrait of “Girl with a Pearl Earring” was the muse leading to creating the new look. “Our original goal was to bring the space to a cleaner more contemporary vibe, when we discovered the over scaled Vermeer print , originally created by Philipe Stark was on the market, our fondness for bold romanticism found expression and led our fabric and lighting choices in a different direction" stated Mr. Gagliano. Chef Steven Hunter introduces a new menu complementing the new look with his own re-interpretation of classic American comfort foods that are stimulating to the palate and eye, Chef Hunter states: “We produce our own charcuterie and fresh signature sausages from organic meats, ninety percent of our fish are sustainably raised or caught in the Chesapeake Bay area. ”We are committed to support local producers, who are dedicated to environmentally, sustainable agriculture.”

"Went there for the Saturday three course brunch with bottomless mimosas/champagne and we had a great experience! The first course and desert were average, but the entree was outstanding. I had the huevos rancheros and my friend had the crab cake. Both our choices were executed in an original way and they were DELICIOUS.
The decor is modern and the dining area is very spacious, which is nice and unusual for DC.
Our server was very attentive and respectful. Definitely recommend it for larger parties (as they have the space to accommodate) and its a great place to take out-of-towners visiting you as it is not that expensive, the food is excellent and the space is beautiful."

"Only six entree options were available on the Sunday dinner menu. Had we known this we would not have selected this location. It looked like a modified lunch menu. We had a drink and an app and then went to a place with more options. Not sure what the menu looks like other days but have to think they have more to offer. We probably won't return."

"It didn't start out very well, and I thought it would be a horrible experience. The maitre d' initially couldn’t find the reservation and nearly turned us away. That was aggravating. He eventually located it and promptly seated us, but that experience left me defensive the rest of the meal. Nonetheless, once we got past that, things went very well. The brunch experience was very pleasant and the food was GREAT. From the first bite till the last, I found it breathtaking. I eat out a lot, and Beacon's food ranks way up there with the best. The service has room for improvement, though. Not great, not poor, just fair to average, ordinary.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience and I’d certainly recommend others to eat here. Very nice place."

"Went to Saturday Brunch. Three-course meal for about $25, with unlimited champagne, so it was a good deal. The three courses were from a reasonable menu of options. The dessert was a bit of a disappointment, but everything else we had was very good, the ambiance was nice, and the service was excellent.
We would definitely go again, as there were enough choices and the food was good enough that we would feel comfortable trying other items on the menu as well."

-Atmosphere was great.
-Plenty of light, outdoor scene is nice, and multiple bar/dining rooms allow you to select an ambiance that suits you.Staff is friendly and our server was (initially) very attentive.
-Happy hour teriyaki wings and homemade guac were truly excellent.
-My pasta/vegetables were cooked perfectly.
-Atmosphere was great.

"This place was the best! I took my fiance' there for Brunch on Mother's Day and we loved it. The price was reasonable, in addition to the UNLIMITED MIMOSAS-- which i never seen the bottom of the glass. The only negative to this hidden gem is the fact that parking was very limited (street parking) and we circled the block for 30 minutes looking for a place to park. All in all, Beacon Grill will see us again."

"I have done brunch at Beacon a few different times on Sunday for their brunch buffet. This time, I decidedto take my mother there on a Saturday. ALL of the brunch menu selections looked and tasted outstanding. Normally, when I attend brunch there Jember is my server and she is absolutely AWESOME. This time, I had a different server named Diane. She was very friendly, although nowhere near as energetic and attentive and Jember always is. Regardless, a great experience as usual. I recommend this brunch to whoever will listen all the time. The only pit-fall is parking, which can get to be a hairy situation on the weekends. I lucked up and got a spot right out front, but I normally plan to valet when I go."

"Very good food, excellent ambiance. We had a lovely server and the manager was really great also. Our server was excellent with our two young kids and kept the bottomless drinks coming. Our kids especially loved our server who was patient with them.
The only drawback was that some of the other servers were pretty rude. We figured out early that we had the best one in the house (which was great due to us celebrating an event).
All in all I'd go back. I was very pleased overall and found Beacon to be a great find."

"It had been quite some time since we had been to BBG for brunch. It was as good as I remembered. The selections were very plentiful, with both breakfast and lunch items prominently featured. I honestly believe anyone could find something they would be happy with. All of the food looked very fresh and the presentation was nice. This brunch also featured a made-to-order omelet bar. They don't have a carving station anymore, but it didn't take away from our experience.
Brunch also includes all-you-can-drink bloody marys and mimosas.
Two things. The price is $34.95 per person. If you don't drink, you may find it hard to justify the price. Also, PLEASE make a reservation. I saw the host turn away people that didn't have one."

"I chose this place for brunch when we were visiting DC based on a "top 10 brunch" list that I found online. These lists are subjective so I keep an open mind. Well the Beacon did not disappoint! In a hotel in a Dupont Circle neighborhood, I checked it out for drinks on Friday night just to get a feel for the vibe. All locals, no tourists in sight so I figured if the happy hour scene was like that then the brunch was safe. CORRECT!. The brunch crowd was a mix of classy families and church going types, with plenty of stylish college kids mixed in. Food was excellent, hot and never ran out even though it was buffet style. Champagne included in price which was nice."

"This was my first experience with the brunch at Beacon Bar and Grill. I was taking a friend there for her birthday. Both of us were very impressed with the food and service. "Sunday brunch on Easter and the place was pretty mobbed. Was seated pretty close to our reservation time but at a table for 2 when there was 3 of us. I assume they did so since we where with our 9 year old son but still it was fairly tight and not conducive to relaxing. Buffet style lunch was okay. Food was nothing special and somewhat on the disappointing side. Not sure if I would return."

"I would have enjoyed the Beacon Bar & Grill a little more if they hadn't put us in the back of the restaurant in the conference room that I call the "Reject" room for my birthday brunch. We had come here for my birthday and immediately got sat in the back of the restaurant and there was no music, and our waiter was fairly rude. They were not accommodating with changing our table because we were unhappy with our location and we basically had to pay at a certain time because another table coming in (rude). I do not believe that that is appropriate for any restaurant to do when we pay for what we get, and it was someone's birthday party. Overall, the food was good and the service was fair."

"Went here for Easter Brunch. Their normal Sunday brunch has unlimited mimosas, champaign, and bloody marys so we got these as well. The food was plentiful and fresh. There was a great variety, like a good brunch should have, of breakfast, lunch, and dessert items which was a nice change from many of the brunches. The place was packed which was good to see since a lot of places were open for brunch this day but didn't have near the amount of people as this place had."

"We had a 2:30 reservationfor brunch. We had eaten one small plate of food and went back for seconds, only to find that the servers were already clearing away the remaining food! So we had a little dessert, found the pie was frozen, and for this we paid almost $35 each. Do not recommend it!"

"I went there for a business lunch and was very pleased. The service was attentive bu not bothersome the food was god and reasonably priced. Although the front of the restaurant might have a more vibrant vibe, we were seated in the main dining area where it was quite and conversation was easy. I would recommend it for lunch and am curious to go back and try their dinner service."

"On Saturdays they have an affordable pre-fix brunch with unlimited mimosas. There isn't a large selection on the menu but the choices are tasty (except for the dessert). On Sundays you pay a little more but there's a large buffet with many options and unlimited mimosas. It is much noisier and crowded on Sundays however. For good food, go on Sunday. For a nice brunch outing and atmosphere go on Saturday."
