"They had our reservation and seated us immediately in a desirable location. The service was adequate but not outstanding. The menu was pricey, but about what we expected. Overall we were satisfied, especially on a Sunday evening when many of the places on the Hill were closed."

"My 2 daughters and I took wife/mom for Mothers Day. The service was amazing. First class dining experience with emphasis on experience.
The meals were very good authentic Italian with a wide selection of seafood, steaks, chicken, and pasta.
Bread was excellent and the garlic dipping sauce was superb.
It was a bit cold at our table when we arrived. We mentioned it to our waiter and he immediately adjusted the air and in moments we were all comfortable. They took a very personal interest in our comfort.
We will go again and recommend Charlie Gittos to all friends and family."

"Took a few friends who had never eaten at this type of restaurant and are probably not the usual customers that pass through, but a good night was had by all. The service was great, could tell our server was a veteran and cared about his job. Our host was kind and efficient like usual. The food was excellent as always and everyone enjoyed their meals and experience. A big thanks to the staff at Charlie Gitto's and a compliment to the wonderful establishment."

"I was entertaining a guest from Seattle who had never been to St. Louis before. I thought Charlie Gitto's on the Hill would be a definitive St. Louis dining experience. "Everyone at Charlie Gitto's takes great care of their patrons. We have enjoyed the Chesterfield location, but this was our first visit to the original on the Hill. It was definitely worth the trip. Great taste and service, and excellent wine choices by the glass or bottle. Tiramisu was amazing."

"My wife and I wanted to celebrate our first anniversary together at the restaurant and it's safe to say that Charlie Gitto's was a good choice. The dark lit atmosphere was a good romantic setting. I like the idea of hanging out at the bar while waiting for a table. The crabcakes were great as well as the chilean seabass. My wife enjoyed her veal too.
At the end..our waiter apparently didn't know it was our anniversary. I thought it would have been communicated when I mentioned it up front. So after ordering our desert and receiving our check I mentioned it. So we got a complimentary cake."

"This was for a business dinner of 11 with the majority of persons being from out of town, I felt it was time to expand their horizons to what STL really had to offer. We were placed in our own room which was tastefully decorated, our server Timothy who not only assisted us with recommendations but after learning our guests were not from STL was gracious enough to answer questions on the local history of “The Hill’. He also verified various wine selections discreetly to me prior to moving forward, which I truly appreciated. The food was superb. Timothy arranged for appetizers at our request and served us each with equal portions and explained how each was prepared. This eliminated that awkward passing plates and disrupting the flow of"

"Food was excellent. Did not care too much for our server. Seems he wasn't too attentive for being a server. I was sitting next to a window and opened the blinds just a little which caused no problem with the ambience. He came by and I mentioned I hope this is okay - his response, my manager would not like this. Like I said the food was excellent and would go back."

"Excellent service: Don M. matched my tastes to the menu and wine list. The chef prepared a pasta dish that was no longer offered on the menu. I watched as other waiters quickly served served food to families with small children. This is how a restaurant should be run!
The restaurant on The Hill has that old world charm. Nice updates have been made to the bar and other areas."

"We made a quick trip down to St. Louis to visit my son and his girlfriend. Charlie Gittos is the third or fourth place we have eaten on the Hill, and was by far the best. The food was very good (as is the case throughout the hill) but it was the atmosphere and the service that made the difference. From the moment we walked in unitl the second we walked out, we were met with incredible service and and just a great experience overall. I would highly recommend Charlie Gittos to anyone looking for a great Italian experience on the hill."

"Such a wonderful classy place -- we were in the "back" room and love the dark wood, white tablecloths and impeccable service. Mixed green and caesar salads were perfect -- chilled and perfectly dressed, and special ravioli and Chicken Nunzio were outstanding. It's not inexpensive, but a great meal and experience."

"We always hit Charlie Gitto's on The Hill when we are in the St. Louis area. One of us always orders the lasagna and is always glad she did so. Another orders the Chicken Marsala and loves it each time. This time we order the Toasted Ravioli as an app. Delicious. The portions are large, so enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day. Management and waitstaff are attentive and polite. Manager always stops by to check on the table before you leave. Can't wait to eat here again next year!"
