"We had dinner here for our 10th anniversary - the service was excellent, our waiter very knowledgeable. The salads and desserts were the highlights of the meal and we appreciated the Happy Anniversary white chocolate decorations in the latter. A lovely meal and a great way to celebrate."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. We asked for the Royal Table; however, after finding out it was only a "service" and had little to do with the food menu we were a little disappointed. Also, there is an extra charge for the royal table service which was not mentioned in the ad so that was also a surprise; however, having the chef prepare a course at our table was very nice and interesting. It was also a nice surprise when our desert was served with a little "happy birthday" note written on a strip of white chocolate. Overall a very nice special occasion experience and the chef who prepared one course at our table was extremely entertaining, informative and a very nice person. His performance made the entire experience worth the price."

"My wife and I were staying in the hotel as well to just get away and enjoy the spa, even though we live in the city. Our waiter Mark, was an absolute delight, was very knowledgeable of the menu selections. When my wife couldn’t decide between the chicken or the steak, she left it up to Mark to decide for her. He had the kitchen serve a bit of both, which made my wife feel very appreciated to have such a remarkable kitchen make something special for her. She had the French onion soup, which she said was to die for and ruined all others she has every tried in the past. I had the scallops which were prepared in a very creamy sauce. My steak and Foi Gras were perfect, as was the wine selection. For desert my wife had the sticky pudding,"

"There once was a time when the Empress would have been at the top of my list of places to eat at. We were sat in the smaller front dining room, which was very quiet and has an exquisite ambience. The chair that I was seated in had an armrest that pulled right off the chair when I tried to move it forward. There was an terrible cold draught from the flour register by our window, which was fixed by the placing of a tablecloth over it! While I had thoroughly enjoyed the foie gras, my husband's french onion soup was disappointing-it wasn't hot enough and their version of it was lack lustre. The mains too were disappointing. I had the salmon which I could have easily prepared at home & my husband had the veal shank. The reduction was too strong."

"Our server, Alfonso, was a delight! The food would have been very good, but the veal cheek appetizer and both entrees (short rib and salmon) were not hot upon arrival at the table - warm at best. I'm not sure if that was a result of having chosen from the Dine Around menu? I'm glad to have tried the restaurant, but am in no hurry to go back."

"This is the third time I have been here for my birthday and as always I was not disappointed. From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty and this continued throughout the evening. "Our Empress Room reservation was a late breaking decision for Valentine's Day, and we were LUCKY to have found an open time within one week of our visit to Victoria. I've been to many restaurants through Open Table, but believe that this ranked as the best overall experience from all aspects. The menu was extensive and preparation was excellent. The atmosphere was first rate from the moment that we arrived, I can easily recommend this venue for ANY special occasion."
